There is no point in adding more. No point in making tough decisions, we need to stop this now. The power creep is making this game so easy, stop it.

It wouldn’t be bad if it wasn’t so utterly pointless. I’m a full-time student; I don’t have time to make sure I’m getting at least 60 champion points before each major update. I’d like to reach max-level sometime within the next five years.

If they plan on keeping CP long term they need to expand the trees, add more options for better varity and just diminish some point values so the power creep can be kept under control

Yeah, and the CP caps will stop making singleton builds powerful soon enough. There's a bunch of CP that doesn't crossover well, like the magicka vs stamina build differences, the boost to sprint or sneak, etc.

Not everything is about more dps or less damage. You're looking at a few extra percent as we go higher and then nothing at all unless you feel like expanding your spec to include PVE and PVP.

After that, we'll have to spec into the opposite trees that don't help our build. Once we hit 3600 or near to it I can totally see hybrid builds being used more often.

    Rejoice, they -are- capped.

The people at ZOS are just increasing the cap on a quaterly basis.
Just like most other games do give people -something- to play for, to keep them interested, keep them feeling they are progressing, keep them having that nice, warm "ding - your character got better!" feeling.

    That's how it works.
That's how it will keep on working for as long as its working.

    Also...
But you will be the same as everyone else.
...I don’t have time to make sure I’m getting at least 60 champion points before each major update...
...nice to see one statemept disproving the other. ;)

Some people will be the same as everybody else, riding the cap.
Others cannot play as much due to life happening, and will fall behind.
Others still have only started recently, and are busy catching up to the cap.

Some will whine about it and demand the ones who have put in the time be nerfed... after all, how -dare- they get better just by putting in more time and effort! And the people who are not whiners will ridicule them for it behind their backs, and call them names, and share knowing nods with each other, thinking people who demand those who put in more effort then they ought to be denied extra effect are what is wrong with the world.

And some will just accept this as the price they pay to use their time to earn their food/rent/power bill, study for that test, enjoy time with their friends, partner, family, whatever. And catch up to cap at some later time, during holidays for example, by gaming the sh... stuffing out of all the questings on multiple characters when they DO have time to spare. Or not, as they choose.

That is the same in -every- game where they add progression. No matter if you play for CP, or levels, or "alternate advancement points" or to get the newest "must have" rank of gear.
It is not really something worth trying to argue about.

I believe he means to cap the CP at every expac, rather than people going over the cap for nothing so each time they up the CP limit people have time to grind the extra points

What they need to do is not clump all the skills together (like physical, poison and disease) and make each one a skill that can be upgraded, this is where the CP system fails...for illustration...you're not a staff expert, you're a lighting staff expert...you dont get extra damage for bows because you're a DW physical weapon expert...

Just like most other games do give people -something- to play for, to keep them interested, keep them feeling they are progressing, keep them having that nice, warm "ding - your character got better!" feeling...
Then why do they constantly nerf all our skills and armor? I WANT you to be correct, but I'm just not sure you are. If they want us to feel like we're making progress, then why do they keep setting our characters back over and over again with nerfs?
The nerfs are obviously their attempt to balance PvP, but it gives people the feeling that they aren't making much progress in the game.

Because the people ar ZOS are just human. No gods, no perfect intellects, just your average run of the mill humans, who make a set of rules that looks good in their eyes, then find it doesn't quite work out as they had intended, and have to tinker with it later on, then see what the new changes do, usually find out it still isn't quite right, and tinker with it again... etc.
Game balance is and forever will be a work in progress in a game this complex.
On the bright side, the complexity comes with loads of nifty spells and abilities for us to play with...

And yes, sometimes that means nerfing something we enjoyed, because it was more effective as intended (yup, that is both the reason for the nerf, and the reason as to why people enjoyed it)
    Adapt to the nerfings.
Deal with them and game on!

Sometimes we get buffs too, but noone ever complains about those for some reason... ;)

CP is already capped. It's not getting better than that until it is either SIGNIFICANTLY reworked or removed altogether. They rebalanced the whole game to work around CP though and people have gotten used to them so it'd be hard to remove. Idk, it's an interesting system I suppose but it is a double edged sword in the end. It's giving players an sense of progression but at the same time the monsters are not progressing, so they have to keep players' power at least somewhat in check by in turn nerfing players...and no one likes being nerfed. They could buff the game, but that would be bad for those not at cp cap, and the gap is only ever gonna grow.

Although imo the negative impact of cp is overrated. I'm not saying it isn't a very powerful system but at least in PvE every time I hear the "well I'm not cp <insert current cap here> in full legendary gear" it makes me facepalm, because 100% of the content people are complaining about can be done without that. It just comes with the territory that best players are usually also those most experienced and at cp cap simply due to how long they've been around so people begin confusing "being a good/strong player" with "having a lot of cp".

I feel no sense of progression whenever I hit the new cap. It's just a chore for me. I'll grind out the 30 CP a few days before the new patch. It doesn't really make you any stronger anymore (we reached the point of diminishing returns on all trees). It's literally just grind for the sake of grind.

Not that I'd want the new CP to make me stronger as the power creep is already ridiculous.

The system needs to be reworked so that it actually provides a sense of meaningful progression.

Nonsense. There are good and bad systems of progression. This one isn't that grindy but it sure is pointless. CP points don't mean anything at high levels due to diminishing returns. There is no progression here. Just grind for the sake of grind.

The system needs to be reworked so that those extra 30 points of CP actually mean something.

cp are capped anyway and all the damage cp are taken first so the power creep from now on is probably rather mild ...that being said id like to see more interestig and creative cp rather then just power+.... for example teeasure hunter.... or cp that unlock costumes or emotes etc

I only reach cap since it was 690 but I do'nt really see how increasing it does any thing for us. I do understand things needing to change so that we hunt for a new optamial set up. Just being able to spend more points doesn't seem to really do that though. Its not like I'm going to have to work at all to make 720.
