Race Change WARNING!

No where does it state this service requires the Any Race upgrade in order to change to a race of a different alliance. I am pissed that I just wasted the crowns and can not use it on the race I want to change to. Be warned. I feel scammed.

I mean, it's common sense I would have thought.

You make a character with your available races, and if you then subsequently wish to change your character's race then it will only be possible to change to ones you have available normally.

In future, I'd recommend googling stuff like this before you do it. .

Are you joking? I need to google this? The item is a RACE CHANGE. There are no requirements listed on that service. I think you need a reality check.

ALL races are available to me, so tell me what race isn't available to me?

Most likely imperials if you have not purchased the imperial upgrade/edition.
Also raging against other players will not help you. If you want to try to get a refund i advise you to contact the Support in a calm and collected manner.

Since I have the any race/any alliance upgrade this never occurred to me. Yeah, I think it should state: You will only be able to change your race to one of the races in your Alliance UNLESS you have the Any Race/Any Alliance upgrade.

It would save confusion AND would encourage players to purchase that upgrade.

OTOH I'm sure this was never intended as a means by which players could Alliance swap.

I can see your frustration, I really can. Write support, especially if you haven't used the token already. They can prolly refund your account, and they could put a little warning on it moving forward.

Now that I've been helpful, I'm going to be straight up: I assumed people would understand this.

I have not purchased the silly outdated Any Race upgrade, and that was not listed as a requirement for the service to change to a race of my choosing. Common sense: Race Change = Race Change, not Limited Race Change.

Well if you don't have the ANY RACE upgrade then the races of the other alliances aren't available to you. I have to agree that is kind of common sense issue. You thought you could get one over on the system and have access to races you otherwise wouldn't have access to. I agree it should be stated maybe but I don't think you were "scammed". You tried to game the system and in turn got gamed yourself.

Well It does make sense you would need the race available for your alliance but in your defense I made the same mistake after I switched to pc and so I just bought the imperial package.

So they probably should update that. But no reason to freak out it does make sense we just overlooked it when buying

Race change is different than Alliance change. I can see the slight confusion, and thus not a bad PSA, but this is something you would have noticed during your character creation.

I agree with the other poster but can see how this could be confusing if you hadn't made a new character in awhile.

Why is it silly or outdated? Base game locks you to your choice of 3 races in your alliance. For many players that's fine.

If you are desperate for 'those' passives with 'that' alliance then you need the pack. It's fair enough. Most players got it free on launch anyway.

Race change is simply allowing you to change race, to those available for you with the edition you bought. It's fair enough.

I would expect that I could switch to Imperial without the Imperial pack, this is the same...

Id say its logical & common sense.

But as above contact support politely and you may get a refund.

Like what has been said, it is fine for what probably counts as most players, and actually makes life simpler for new players by simplifying a character generation decision. Later, after they are more familiar with the game, they can buy that option.

I agree with Morna on this.

While you are understandably upset due to the lack of descriptors on the item (which, contrary to what others are saying, should outline all restrictions prior to purchase), because the game requires you to purchase "upgrades" to play Imperial or to play a different race on an alternate faction, I also can see why it was overlooked.

Overlooked does not mean that the game is correct. In retail, mislabeled items typically end up at a reduced price or free to the consumer. I am not saying that you should get the item for free. I am carefully not voicing an opinion on that. However, I *do* think you should contact support and let them know their error because if one customer has done it, others will, and this could potentially be an ugly backlash scene for them.

Just keep in mind the whole flies and honey proverb thinger. It really does help in these situations.

    That all said...

Anyone hoping for a low-cost Alliance swap via this method really does deserve to be disappointed. I am not making assumptions on the OP's reasons for the purchase, rather voicing my agreement with Morna that I also do not believe this was intended as a low-cost Alliance change.

I've used one of these tokens before and it never occurred to me either since I have the Any Race upgrade too (and in my case anyhow, I was changing a DC toon from Imperials to Redguard so I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't have it). That said, I too agree to descripts on the token are so scant that they could be seen as misleading and ZOS maybe ought to look it that, maybe, huh? I realize that we forum regulars have beaten the Why Can't We Have Alliance Change Tokens Already??? horse to fine, powdery dust, but that doesn't mean there aren't players out there who don't realize how locked your toon's Alliance is.

And if I may be so trolly, given how pricey the token is when not on sale, it should include an Alliance change. Amirite?

That said, I'm personally annoyed that the Race & Name change bundle isn't likewise on sale--I have another Imperial I would consider changing to a Dunmer but not if she's stuck with the very Imperial-y name I gave her at creation.

You’ve got to love the idiotic logic here. If you have to google crucial information about a product, then the seller is not trustworthy. As expensive as the token is, I’d think it did let you change to races of other alliances. The only reason I know otherwise is because people have complained about it. The only reason “googling” it shows results is because people have complained about it. It’s blatantly and intentionally misleading. There’s no way they should be selling this without letting people know that they still have to purchase the separate alliance unlock in the description.

I will confirm that even with ESO+, a race change token does NOT allow you to change to a different faction.

I bought a race change several months ago and was disappointed that it only allowed me to change within my own faction. I submitted a ticket and actually got my crowns refunded.

I had the same thing happen to me recently. I was a silly wood elf and decided I wanted something a bit more DPS appropriate. So i got the race change *thinking* I could be an orc (I like orcs after wood elves) but nope, only within my alliance. I didn't want to change alliances, I want to stay AD.

SOOO...I bought the Imperial Edition, any race/any alliance thing and STILL I could not change my race to a different alliances race. I don't mind it because I'm sure I will use the added features of the Imperial Edition but I did feel cheated and intentionally misled. Enjoy that $20 bucks ZoS.

The race change token description SHOULD include information that it only allows you to change races within your alliance. It was misleading and I felt, wrong. I changed to an Imperial which suits me just fine.

PSA: I am not complaining, just sharing my experience. I don't mind having the Imperial Edition now, or being an Imperial rather than an Orc or Redguard.

As for the concept of "google it before you buy"...If I need to "google" something to see if other people have had misfortune with said item, whatever it is, I shouldn't be doing business with that entity or buying that item.

You google reviews and information for things like cars, houses, computers...not a flipping race change token in a flipping make believe video game with orcs and flipping wood elves.
