When your mount goes into deep water

Apply 2 second debuff called hydrophobia or something. Dismount after 2 seconds.

The instant dismount is bad.

Well not bad for the player but the poor horse dying a horrible death over and over which is why you shouldn't name your horse because it died long ago you don't even get a chance at mouth to mouth :(

The mount doesn't die, it just disappears.'

If you want to see your mount die, jump off a cliff while mounted. It will die and probably make a terrible noise when it does.

Then the solution could be to remove all those "deep" waters from cyrodill or areas of passage.

I find it so annoying :-D

Forgive me, but I can't help but think that there are more pressing things to change.

I have a temporary solution for you though: don't (attempt to) ride through deep water. This will have the effect of you NOT dismounting.

When you try to just jump that little stream but slightly mis-time it and hit that tiny patch of 'deep' water in the middle - dismount your horse then slowly get back on again the other side. Why not swimming horses? Thats a thing right?

Every time my horse disappears in deep water, I feel the desire for a little row boat. Can we have boat mounts for water, please ZoS? Also, can we do fishing from said boats too? I'd love that.

    Agreed.

Well, when it actually goes into deep water, its not so bad.

Then it takes -one step- in -just a smidge too deep- water between shallow water, That is when it gets totally vexing.
A "hydrophobia" delay would make it so much better...

Heck, I'd love to see it as fourth riding skill. Water paddling. The more riding training you do, the more seconds you get of your mount swimming before the dismount... I'd gladly add another sixty day to "maxing mount skill" for that...

Yes, horses can swim, but not in my experience with someone riding on their back. If a horse is ridden into deep water, and loses its footing then one way or another the rider is coming off. The rider gets dismounted, just like happens in the game. Once the rider emerges from the water they can mount up again - provided they have still got a hold of their horse.

It makes sense wood elfs are shorter so they can not ride an horse of the same size as other horses in water.

It is rather unusual that a snow bear (polar bear) is afraid of a relatively small pond. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but I thought bears and water usually go together like peanut butter and jelly. I thought bears even go hunting in the water, as in swimming and even diving. Yet... My bear gets in water that goes up to my character’s waist, and immediately disappears... :#

Except the other races aren’t that much bigger and a wood elf could still handle it. I get what you are saying. But it just isn’t valid, they aren’t that much smaller. Do jockeys have to ride smaller horse to race because they are smaller? Nope. Because they aren’t that much smaller, and they can still handle normal sized horses.

I've ridden horses into a lake and it was no problem. I just slid off, got a hold of the mane, let the reins long so i didn't accidentally would pull under the horse's nose and got towed along. You just have to stay clear of the paddling hooves. :)
It's great fun and surprisingly fast!
So, yes - you should not stay mounted. But it's still faster than the ordeal ZOS is putting us through with demounting and mounting up again.

Or at least make it easier to spot where the deep pools in a stream or lake are! It's next to impossible to tell under some circumstances like certain light or ground.
