How excited were you when you first started, whether it was last week or when the earliest player-testing started?

If you look at my not-too-long list of prior suggestions, the game hasn't gone quite as I had thought either, but, what were you looking forward to the most when you logged in with your first character?

    I was actually so hyped.

But we have to admit. The game was totally garbage back on the launch. 80% of que quests bugged, no content. Pvp was kind okay I guess. But everything else was like "WTF?"

It took until Craglorn to be playable and only after 1T it actually started to have it's own personality.

I started back in July 2015, me thinks.....

    When I 1st start i was like.....ooo pretty landscape....ooo a goat....oooo a dead goat. Must kill more things.

Starting a quests and to be honest enjoying it more than Skyrim. The fact that I could go anywhere across world was ace.

I had to complete everything, so yeah I was addicted at the beginning...and still am.

Had one toon a mag sorc for a year then start with the alts.....:D Still need more character slots. lol

I started playing the day it was released (not beta). I had heard about the game being in development for awhile but didn't actually know anything about it, I didn't keep up with the info or anything, but I remember reading on twitter that it was released that day to my surprise, so I decided to check it out. I wasn't working at the time, so I spent the next three to four weeks playing for 10+ hours a day, just playing through all of the Daggerfall Covenant quests and exploring. I had a ton of fun and greatly enjoyed the stories and quests, seeing all of the lands I've heard about from Tamriel from playing the other Elder Scrolls games so much :)

I never really interacted with other players though. After DC and Coldharbour, the main story and guild quests, I did all of the Dominion quests and enjoyed those a lot too, but lost steam going into the Ebonheart quests, and quit for about a year.

Started playing during PC early access. I was so excited about everything, but mainly about three things:
    1. A chance to (re)visit the different areas of Tamriel.
    2. Meaningful and impactful crafting.
    3. The chance to enjoy RP and grouped content in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

    ...still, 1/3 isn't bad I suppose.

I stumbled across Morrowind in the Xbox Store this past November, it was on sale and I was looking for a new game and thought, hey why not? I played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim..soo..lets do it!

I landed on the shore of Seyda Neen and started exploring Vvardenfell. I had no clue I was separated from my alliance (AD), that I wasn't were I "should" have started and it wasn't until level 30 that I ventured out of Vvardenfell, I had no idea who Alcast was, or that I shouldn't have an even spread of points across health/stam/magicka (lawlz). While trying to green a 2H sword I figured 65% odds were good, and wouldn't you know it, it destroyed my ONLY WEAPON (lawlz). So I had to go find a new sword somewhere. Thankfully I had a shield.

It was there however that I had my best game related story; I ran into another player as we acted like buffoons near the blacksmithing station in Vivec City. We decided to head out to kill things when we ran into two Aussie ladies and the four of us set out, gathering up loners and heading to overland bosses. After killing some giant spider thing (I had little idea what we were doing back then so I don't remember the name) we added a CP690 player to our group who saved our butts and he soon became "daddy", and thus the group set about Vvardenfell following "daddy" laughing and cutting up as we accidentally reset world bosses, died MANY times from some poisonous werewolf thing in a small cave, and had a genuinely great time playing the game. It still to this day hasn't been topped.

I still look back at Vvardenfell with fond memories and it felt like home for a while but after I arrived in Auridon, nothing else has felt like home. It's actually a weird feeling but after awhile I just have to go back. I can't be away from Auridon for too long. I go back to Vvardenfell to check out what I thought was the main game and laugh at some of the areas I used to go to thinking they were tough. I remember learning what the hell that evil sound was when some crazy contraption showed up in the sky (and to not just run to one like an idiot when NO ONE is there).

I still love the game and still look at it as I always have, a multiplayer version of Skyrim. I like going out on my own and doing my own thing and am very self sufficient but I also enjoy having many friends now and linking up to take down some dungeons.

I'm playing ESO one year or so.
I'd heard about the game when it was in beta and I'd watched some overviews when the game was launched but I wasn't really interested. I wasn't a TES fan, I played Oblivion in 2007 but it failed in getting me interested in TES world. I also spent some time in Skyrim (a week or two) and dropped it as well.
It was interesting to try TES game as a MMO, especially since one of my thoughts about TES games was "why all this craft and dungeons in the game? It's pointless and boring. It's like MMO but there's no other players".
However, the fact that ESO hasn't Russian translation stopped me from buying this game.
One year ago I watched Russian ESO stream and they said there's an unofficial Russian translation. That day I decided to try out ESO finally.

And... It was cool! I've never seen such singleplayer-like quests in MMO before, every quest was so exciting and every new story about this world was interesting to me. I must admit that storytelling in ESO is brilliant. Neither Oblivion nor Skyrim didn't make what ESO did, it have got me interested in TES lore.
Later I did realize that crafting system here is almost brilliant as well. ESO is one of a very few MMORPGs which has a really good working and very interesting crafting system. I was excited even more when they said about upcoming furniture crafting in Homestead. One of my MMO dreams comes true!
Also, I was charmed by ESO's visuals. First time I saw a dark anchor falling down from the skies, I was just "Wow! Oh my God! It is awesome! Oh my God!" And then I've seen like 10-15 players fighting with daedra at this dolmen, I thought "So many players are actually doing content here, in a newbies zone. The game is alive, It's a very very good sign".
And I was wondered how many different activities the game can offer to players. These dolmens, dungeons, fishing, thieving, gathering crafting mats anywhere, crafting, also I'd never seen so many role-players in other MMOs...
Then was Cyrodiil. It was very exciting at the beginning, to see the lands of TES IV: Oblivion again. But it turned out that Cyrodiil is a typical copypasted quests and quite unusual PvP mechanics. I don't like it at all.

Well, that's my little story. I think that ESO is one of the best (the only best for me now) MMORPGs, though I always have something to complain about. :)
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

I have to say I was quite pessimistic about this game at start because for me Elder Scrolls world was always about single player experience. I approached this game unsure what to think of it, expecting dissapointment, but in the end I fell in love with ESO, even considering its issues :)

I was thrilled when I received a beta invite, and have played off and on since then. Originally I was slightly disappointed that some features hyped pre-release did not make it into the game. My biggest thrill, which offset my disappointment with the Sorcerer class, was when I realized I could make a siphoning mage/warlock with a Nightblade.

My biggest disappointment was the original release felt like an Elder Scrolls skin. I loved the visuals, the quests, and the overall game play, but missed being able to do anything I wanted. So I found that thrill again once they converted to One Tamriel.
