Have you (or do you know of anyone) who has met someone IRL that they met in this game ?

I sure have but luckily @Nestor hasn't realized that his new neighbor is a fellow ESO player, slowly shaping his bushes into a topiary maze filled with kagouti....

Not ESO, but met my wife of 12 years in WoW. Still going strong.

Met my best friend in ESO. She's the most wonderful person I ever met. We're seeing us as often as we can considering we're 800km apart - which is a lot for us Europeans :p:D

I know of two couples that met each other in ESO and now live together. Seems like playing games won't make you lonely :#

I thought that was you, but I did not have enough evidence

I have IRL friends who I met before I played ESO and played with me, but otherwise, no. There's maybe 1 or 2 people I'd like to meet, but frankly there's just too many bad eggs that I've had the misfortune to befriend.

I've yet to meet someone from ESO that I met initially through the game. I have spoken on the phone, became Facebook friends, etc. with some however, so I guess that blurs the line between in-game and real-life somewhat.

One of my earliest online games was a text-based mud called Darkness Falls / Darkness Falls: The Crusade (these were the direct precursors to Dark Age of Camelot if any of you played that one), and I met up with multiple people from that game.
    • I think that was a more drastic step than an MMO like ESO where you have voice chat and things of that nature. The old text-based games were simply lines of print on the screen with a character name to identify you, and all communication was done through typed messages. Long before Facebook and Myspace, we used cutting edge technology called AIM (AOL Instant Messenger, lol) to communicate outside of the confines of the game GUI.

Many of those people I stayed in contact with for over a decade until life moved on, and I wouldn't be against meeting some current ESO players who I've formed some sort of connection with. Not into the whole, go to a random meeting with other players I don't know though.

Not in ESO, but my group of friends and I all met about 14 years ago in SWG. We are a small community that has gamed together since. We have all met, and go on vacations together occasionally and visit each other often. Two of the guys were even groomsmen in our wedding :)

The friendships I personally have made in gaming over the years are some of the best friendships Ive ever met, and its easy to forget we actually met over pixels.

Actually yes, several times. Both my wife and I play, and we met on another online game. Her sister and husband also play ESO, and we have done many dungeon runs together. And then one of my guildies recently got a job with Microsoft, so we had a chance to meet up with him for some brews at the local pub when he was moving to the Redmond area.

Not exactly? I mean, I've met a good number of my friends who play ESO at one gathering or another (often there's a get together in the vicinity of Otakon which is in my driving area), but most of them I got to know before ESO launch. I have not met anyone via ESO the way I have via WoW and GW2; it's more that friends I've met in other places have elected to try ESO and I've added them to my Friends list :)
