Yes. We were quite friends for a while. We schedule annual meetings, visited each other. Played many other games. But then we started to play MOBAS, we the things went down hill very quickly.

I barely talk to them nowdays.

I have not, unless they were already a friend of a friend type situation. However one of my friends met his wife in WoW, she came down to visit, they started dating and well, the rest is history.

Yes. Had lunch with a PvP friend from another alliance when he was in my part of the country.

Not this game but in EQOA, met a few people and was friends with one for 8 years + until we lost touch, life n stuff...

Yep, most of my buddies are from Canada and I've gone to see them.

Technically yes, since I have friends in-game that I've known IRL long before playing the game together. One of them I first met personally AFTER playing the game together, but again, we have a common childhood friend, so that was the main reason for us meeting. People I met in-game and THEN met IRL? Not in ESO, but happened before. I met my partner of 8 years in an online video game as a child.

Not my story, but some of my past guildies shared stories about meeting others IRL, and I know several couples who play the game together, some of them actually met through ESO.

I met my daoc 8man at a guild meet up. That was a ton of fun. Everyone was exactly as I had imagined they’d be lol

Even though I have never met anyone...yet...several in my main social guild have met other guildies in person when they happened to be in the same area for whatever reason...and I would have no issues hanging out irl with most people in my guild if the opportunity presented itself..

I find the example of meeting someone in an MMO then they date and get married (heard of this quite a few times) to be rather obvious

if you think about it people tend to be incredibly "real" in an MMO because of the fact you may never meet them, so there is not really a "mask". you learn if people are good or bad with money in a "safe" environment, how they handle stress in situations (pvp, raids, etc) how they play also reflects on them, are they a flower sniffer, do they prefer to spend time fishing or in pvp, etc.

you see how people treat others on a large basses, if they create drama or avoid it, how they handle social situations (if at all) are they introvert or extrovert, etc.

as I said it makes perfect sense and is quite interesting, we just nee an Eharmony for MMO's so all us nerds can be happy lol

Not in this game, but in other games, yes. Majority (all except for that one time lol) were positive experiences and I'm still friends with many to this day.
