People are hardwired by evolution to be social creatures to begin with, and non-negative responses (likes, comments, etc.) to social media posts - and forums were the "second generation" social media (BBS and Usenet probably count as first generation), lest anyone forget - act as a dopamine drip, literally.

If you consider the entire spectrum of social media, forums are still the first generation. If you consider just public messaging systems (ie BBS and Usenet) then they are a subsequent generation of that. You can pretty much measure generations in social media by measuring the average attention required by the person receiving the information. The ultimate goal in social media is to design a system that conveys the desired message without requiring any attention on the part of the recipient.
When I get bored with questing, I PVP. When I get tired of that, I run dungeons. When I get tired of that, TG/DB dailies. When I get tired of that, I decorate my house. When I get tired of that, I spin up a new toon.

This. I don't do everything in the game all the time. I have characters that are not max level in anything. If I decide I want to level crafting, or horse training, or even just bring one up to 50, I have characters I can do that on. I don't have to do all the daily quests every day, and might go months between various DLC/Chapter daily quests. I might decide to farm and sell materials for a few weeks, or just run around and find places to take wallpaper pictures. There are enough events scattered through the year that I have some characters that only do that. Almost all of their leveling is done during an event.

I really want them to make Housing worth my time, so that I can add it to the list of things to do.

That said... Right now, as I said earlier, I am playing Fallout 3 and a little Oblivion instead of ESO. I have even fired up the modding tools for them. All I am doing in ESO right now is "keeping the lights on" while I wait for New Life.

Yea pretty much my foo is weak for ESO, don't play much, tired of cheaters and exploiters and them doing nothing about it, content is ok but nothing that makes me go oh that was cool, still love the Elder Scrolls just not the online version. Had great time early on was in early beta loved testing the game one of the few games I have ever seen that play worse now than when in the late stages of beta.

I switch from RP-PVE- PVP- questing etc every now and than so I won’t get burned out playing something constantly. I’ve even spent time just helping players in zone chat. Been doing this since beta.

I've had a 6 month break in the past, that helped. I'm basically just waiting for something else to come along. Sick of the changes that get made that just end up making the game more stale and less fun. Also the fake community interest that zos comes out with every now and again the fool us into thinking they are listening.

At this point, I'll do some new content questing out of basic curiosity. Unless friends want to go dungeoning there's no real point to playing this game. I've given up trying to accomplish VMA (my toon remains stuck on final boss and I'm fine with that). Trials are a silly *** measuring endeavor to prove you're worthy of inclusion. Pugging Undaunted runs with my tank is a mirthless experience. And PvP? Just feels devoid of any meaningful reward for the effort.

So in conclusion, yeah, I'm burned out too.

The early days of Warcraft are long gone. ESO is meant for casual players. If you notice the population is teenagers and people in their mid 30-40s. You can recognize the first ones by their names, which often involve Gandalf or some super sayan. Most people playing the game have little time to dedicate to it. The game gives you the best content demanding very little time and skills.

    It sucks. Really.
Considering you can run full SPC without ever entering the WGT, just to give an example.
The simple fact that you can upgrade quality or move items in between all your characters. And transmute them.
"Yesterday while searching a barrel in vVoM I found a lemon. Best drop of the whole run."

Protect the weak. Heal the sick.
Treasure the gifts of friendship. Seek joy and inspiration in the mysteries of love.
Honor the Earth, its creatures, and the spirits. Use Nature's gifts wisely. Respect her power. Fear her fury.

It's very easy to become burnt out after playing extensively on one game. I recently left WoW purely because I became too burnt out.

I find ESO a very relaxing game, and one of the most aesthetically pleasing games out there. The scenery and music is very beautiful. Sure, there a few things that make me annoyed with this game, but overall I'm enjoying my time back here. I can imagine after playing this for a length of time that you might start to lose interest, but that's why it's good to give yourself breaks away now and again.

I'm planning on doing that now. I have my single game, (dark souls 3) which I never completed, and then ESO. I also never finished Fallout 4, so that will be another that I will go to when I want to take a break away.

I also find that if you have a group of friends to group up and do content with, that tends to add more enjoyment. Making it a fun and enjoyable setting adds much more to gameplay, where you can just relax and chill with friends.

You need to stop doing dailies. Repeating dungeons all over again makes people quit this game quickly. I wish they would add some tavern mini-games like a simplified eso card game etc (would be cool to roam the world to find cards you'd like to have) something like GWENT in Witcher3. You know...some other activities than just kill kill kill.

Kinda at that stage now. Ive got my dps to a stage where im able to contribute to vet trials (minus vas, vmol, vhall of course) and even though i need to improve to hit those other trials, im just over it and burnt out. Tried tanking, healing, pvp etc, but find instead of wanting to log in to enjoy it, i do it out of boredom.

Last time this happened i cancelled my sub and didnt touch the game for about 6 weeks which helped, so im thinking i might do it again.

After too many attempts at trying to kill Voriak Solkyn I'm burned out from the worsening lag and my own poor reflexes... thought about doing it on my MagDK instead but she needs a lot of skill points and I simply cannot be a*sed right now.

I hit a serious case of burnout just before Morrowind, kept forcing myself to play just because of all the time and effort and cash I'd already put in, wasn't having fun at all, it was a mess. Stopped logging in, put 400 hours into Skyrim SE, eventually wanted to come back, so I did. Afer a while, Riften just isn't the same without other players wandering around.
AD is the best looking faction. I don't make the rules, I just enforce them.

I am so burnt out of this game that i couldn't even start the game to kill 1 monster each day and also complete dungeon during the next event. :hushed:
The game was right there installed right in front of me. Whispering to me "click click" and i still couldn't

The worst part is ill miss these goodies when I return to the game when the new chapter is announced for my ES lore dosage .
And I freaking bought 200 crates at a time once and now I denied free ones.

I am not telling this game is boring or something . This game is awesome and most of the players in it.

I feel the same. I just rushed Morrowind because I felt all quests where the same and I couldn't care anymore. I probably won't buy any more DLC, chapters,...

For me, it's the "events" that will more or less lead me to a burnout.

As it has been said : it's a game, you have to do whatever you want, when you want. If you put yourself under stress because "woah ! it's my only opportunity to get X, and give a shot to Y !", it becomes more a less a second job. You feel you *have to* do it.

Once I understood that, I don't give a **** anymore to many events. New boxes events ? Nah, I want to do PvP, because I'm bored of running dungeons. New Ebonshadow and Mechanical Priests quests ? I dislike Priest motif so much, I just run the Quest of Ebonshadow... that is, when I feel like to do it.

Every MMO has to keep their players busy with something... but that's marketing. Do what you want to do.
(And for people that might say : "I run out of endgame content" (just like me), move to something else (for me, it's PvP, but why not another game ?). You'll come back to enjoy it only if you make a break, and do it because you want to do it again.)

EDIT : sometimes, you also find something "less attractive" because you're too used to it. Try giving a 1-2 weeks break at ESO before a new release, it works wonder !

EDIT 2 : You don't have to "fear" you'll miss something when not doing an event. RP-wise, you shouldn't have access to everything to begin with. So, if it's for your RP or characterization, you can do without it (and sometimes, you even enjoy more something you've done with less resources !). If it's for hardcore builds (new important recipes,...) it can be bought. So, grind gold while playing the way you want, and let others farm for you.

Yes its getting there for me other than to do trials with my guild and a little PvP with my other guild I don't even want to log in anymore

On the other hand, I’m burned out on trials. Switched to NA server to play to get away from doing (more of the same) trials.

I’m actually having fun derping around doing all sorts of weird things- from stealing everything not nailed down to going to IC to flip the flags just because of the lols and then try to gtfo before actual PVPers kick my arse (which they often do if they catch me, but I love it when they barely miss me!) and sometimes even kicking their arses! Met some pretty cool people along the way, too- of enemy factions even!

Also lots of other stuff along the way! I actually really like going in finder and just see what group I end up with xD it’s funny!

I get burnt out on ESO sometimes.

When I do, I play something else for a while, like Skyrim, a Soulsborne game, Destiny 2 (lol), or something else.

I think the next game for me will most definitely be Monster Hunter Worlds.

I always come back to ESO eventually. Love this game.

It does for me, but i ended up coming back everyday, until my friend lsit again drops, this might be the end, and some are actualy less and less on, and i play MMOSt o play with friends, not soloing things... but yeah this game is going with lots of less wow and ohhh and awesomes!

if i keep playing the game is mostly these days i need something to change my mind.. and only game i love to play now are MMOs and Flight Sims, and ESO game is the only one i would still play... went for about a 1.5 year brake and came back last january.. reated feqw new toons... had to make changes so tried stam toons, now they are my fav, 2 old magika toons got converted as stam, might also convert a no-tuses anymore DK tank to try DK stam dps.. so i actualy try to create myself new content since new content kills me... when game came out i loved questing... but after what 2 years or so in total in game... hate questing, too much run all over, too much long dialogues making me loosing it.... i persoanly would rather have new content as dungeons only, get a patch out and add 5 new dungeons, is what i'd love, get ride of old sets, creates new ones, recycle old ***... not a new zone with questing and blablabla that after 4 days you'Re done with....

And the constant weird changes and bugs etc.. pisses me off, so does ZoS RNG.. when Xmute crytals came out, i was happy, was getting quite often 3-4 crystals in geodes, now for some reason since 2 maintenances away, i get mostly 1-2.... so agai ZoS might had droped RNG chances to suite their stupid needs of making us grind grind.... And ZoS pushes me to a hate status on lots of situaiton but, the drip thaht acctualy spilled the glass, was Fire Atron crates.... bought 2 packs of 15 crates, about $ 100.. and didn't get a single special mount, good this is, i ended u wiht barely enough gem to get one... but i mean, really i know it's RNG, but really, $100 and can't even *** guarantee me a mount, a pure mount in game, with $100 i could buy 3 games.. but not a single ingame estetic item.. and gem refound is absurd.... so this mount was when i learend my lesson and ZoS are not getting anymore my money for the crates, no matter how cool things are.... yeah they can stap their shoulders cuz they mad eme waste $100, but instead of making me waste $50 on each crate season, that $100 was the last..

So no matter the nerfs, bad RNG etc.. i still play this game, game is awesome, i don't mind build changes, nerfs etc. it actualy allows you to get back to your toon, learning new stuff, cuz new content in this game is crap, so i presume it's their way to make changes, what i get to hate is the people and brains behind the game, but again, only reason i still play is, it's the only MMO i find interesting as i say again and might repeat myself later, it made me quit SWTOR cuz of some stuff i came to hate there... but who knows, i'm intorealistic Flight Sim as well, maybe when that company release their awesome F/A-18 module soon, i might leave ESO behind finaly :) After all for about $50 i,ll be able to fly a plane module that people were programming, modeling for years based on hundreeds of real plane guide, mdeling lfight dynamics doing all it looks and feels like the real thing, working with real pilots, ingineers etc... that, is some work that deserve $50, more than a $100 mount that actualy frame is copy pasted from one mount to the otehr and just apply a new texture....

Well here iam again with a long post cuz of another maintenance, but maintenance for what, on each maintenance they create new bugs, changes invisible stuff on us.... since 2 maintenance i have more crashes than ever since i installed this game on release.... wonder they maintenance what..... their BAD RNG coding i presume. But yeah from all the MMOS i played (Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, Star Wars Galaxies, Ages of Conan, Dungeon and Dragons Online, City of Villains/Heroes, DC Universe Online, Star Wars The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2) ESO is the only one i would have so much negatives listing, so many frustrations, so many crashes, but again since it's the only decent MMO still up and graphicly awesome, i still play.. but for how long.. not sure, my 2 real life friends who were still playing aren't much on anymore, one got back to console gaming and the other comes once in a while.... that might gave me the push to get into something else.
