ESO could learn from Destiny

Forgive me for my rather blunt opinion, but I think it's somewhat narrow-minded to propose game companies learn from other game companies experiences when the game and the game community is like apples to oranges. The Destiny community is far more first person shooter than mmo. For example, when was the last time you met someone RPing in destiny?

Destiny 2, sure, seems a bit lame but they also came out with their first expansion rather quickly. I'm getting the impression that they released early with a very basic game in order to feed the community
content like breadcrumbs, one at a time. I would suggest that the reason destiny 2 seems to have a small community is more due to the fact that there simply is no content. I am a destiny 2 player but you can really only make progress by playing 1 time a week, and maybe doing the raid. So that's what I do, play once or twice a week.

But, let's say the reason destiny isn't as popular (if we take it as fact) is that they decided to balance everything and the community didn't like it. Who is to say eso hasn't learned from bungie? Has eso found perfect balance yet? Maybe they know more than you think ;)

    "ESO is on that cliff"

and that is where I quit reading.

Nostradamus was wrong the game isn't going to end on December 17th.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I quit ESO for Destiny 2 just before it released. Content in Destiny 2 is so bland/similar, PvP is extremely small scale, Destiny 2 has nothing on ESO in my opinion.

The options for content on ESO are in abundance compared to my options for things to do in Destiny 2. Safe to say I am back, playing Destiny 2 made me realize how good ESO really is. World/zones always feels active and alive compared to me rarely seeing many people in the 4 small scale planets in Destiny 2.

Great post. I look back at vids I took on Xbox back pre Morrowind sustain nerfs....It was so much more fun to play then. I don't care if sustain made us too strong. We were all that way....So PvP didn't really change. They could've just made newer pve content harder as it came out. Now instead we just have to suffer doing dungeons and trials made harder just because we have to do a million things to maintain resources now. Devs need to make games fun, not brain dead.

Destinys popularity relies heavily on its creators notoriety and its previous popular franchise Halo. The game itself is devoid of a compelling or engaging story. And its DLC is lackluster. The gameplay is also monotonous.

I understand that people want to make a point when comparing games. But ESO and Destiny arent even in the same ballpark. ZOS has had its hiccups and has definitely shifted in a more questionable direction over the last year business wise. But the last thing it needs is to take lessons from Destiny good or bad.
