Okay, seriously, is there a basis for the Weredaedroth?

To be fair, I'd rather have a few implemented well, rather than eight or nine implemented poorly. That said, yeah, other lycanthropy breeds would be pretty cool, especially if they were, legitimately, rare.

Imo we should stick to werewolves because its easy, common, and wont consume dev resources.

I'd be cool with all dose other were-creatures being added as enemy types.

Imo until I can play as a Dagi Khajiit then you cant play as a were-shark.

@Urza1234, to be clear, Weresharks and Werecrocodiles are exceedingly rare to the point that they may actually be mythical. Though, they do pop up in Tamriel's folklore. There's even a series of novels about a pirate captain who is also a wereshark.

That said, there's almost no evidence that either variety exists. Weresharks in particular are somewhat contentious among the scholars on Tamriel that study lycanthropy.

Letting weredaedroths run free in the wild would surely be fun, but not so lore friendly? I mean it got tricked by Sheogorath's bird into suicide right? Hircine burnt its corpse afterwards and I don't think he will create another one of its kind since weredaedroth symbolizes his defeat in some way.

Weresharks are a thing, they are just really rare. There's a bunch of books about it in the Gold Coast area. I can imagine Redguards and sailors get bit by them.

Okay, seriously, is there a basis for the Weredaedroth?

Actually, there has been a storied account of one single weredaedroth hand crafted by Hircine himself to challenge Sheogorath. Sheo just used a tiny, impossible to hit little bird that ran around the droth's body making it kill itself and winning the bet. (Accounts of Madness is the lore book series iirc)

The other seven are confirmed, BUT weresharks are exceedingly rare and up for scholarly debate.

I'd like to see the Devs put "combat pet skins" into the crown store. Make your clanfear a fire atro clanfear or blood root style one, changing nothing but the appearance (think the orange vs grey warden bear). In that category, we can add werewolf skins. This also gives incentive for zos to make them, and make them look awesome.

@DocFrost72, Weresharks and Werecrocodiles are up for debate. As I mentioned posts ago, they both exist in Tamriel's folklore, but they're so rare they may be mythical. (The bit about the werecrocodiles being that rare comes from one of the novels, if you're wondering.)

Sixteen Accords of Madness, v. VI

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, it wasn't actually a weredaedroth, i.e. a man turning into a daedroth. It was a daedroth infected with lycanthropy. No human component in this combination.

I'd love to see more lycanthropes in ESO, and to be able to play as them.

Personally I'm quite curious about the werelions. As far as I know they've only been seen in Elsweyr so I'm kind of sceptical on whether they're real or if someone mistook a big/ugly khajiit for a lycanthrope.

@starkerealm I agree with everything you posted, I perhaps should have phrased it better. The OG post has eight varieties of lycanthrope, all of which appear in elder scrolls lore. What I meant to say is, those eight are mentioned, and therefor having them exist wouldn't be out of the question. If someone had said werepony, werepheonix, or werewelwa, however, they have no basis in TES as of yet.

I'm on the fence aboot sharks, because all I know referring them to exist comes from a book where a scholar says he has never encountered nor found someone who encountered the beast firsthand. But yes, both sharks and crocs are intensely rare: most likely due to their biome of inhabitance in both cases being prone to certain...natural dangers. The swamps of Argonia and the open seas are not safe research environments even before adding lycans!
