What was your hardest ever 1v1? Most dangerous spec?

Hey guys, I'm just keen on seeing and reading some good stories about your hardest 1v1 battle! This could be a duel, or in cyrodiil.

Describe what class you were playing, and what you were up against.

Throw in what you think is the most dangerous 1v1 spec - in the hands of a skilled player.

My personal hardest 1v1 came on the EU XB1 (I've since came to NA) server in Imperial City - I was playing on my Mag DK and ran into an EP Stam DK (can't remember gamer tag but he was notoriously one of the better players in the server - was emperor a few times)

Anyway, we were fighting in the sewers for probably the better part of 10 minutes before I used my last immovable pot and he got me with a wrecking blow (the stun was still on that ability at that point) and I was out of stamina, and he won the fight. I had him down to below 5% HP at least 5 times during the fight, and less a couple times, however I couldn't close out the fight as I didn't have the burst (I didn't have meteor at that time and the dragon leap ulti sucked then) and as we all know Mag DK has no execute

I think the most dangerous spec in the hands of a skilled player is probably Magblade. Magblade is far from OP - I can empathise with the argument it's the worst off as far as magicka specs go - however, it has probably the largest capability/skill threshold in the game. A Magblade who knows what he is doing can be absolutely brutal! I especially struggle on my Mag DK - they have all of these speed buffs and a spammable immobilize (RIP Fossilize) and I have to waddle towards them to get into melee range and apply my Embers and Whips.

What class is the hardest to fight 1v1 will depend entirely on what class you’re playing. Rock, paper, scissors and all that. All around however, across most match ups, I’d say the most dangerous 1v1 spec is one of the following destro mageblade, heavy armor stamblade, or magicka DK.

The single toughest lopsided counter match up I’ve seen in this game tho is anything stam vs magicka warden. Having to fight inside an aoe major defile to do any damage against a pigeon cannon that completely denies the stam playstyles main method of relieving pressure is about as up hill as it can get.

When I think of difficult 1v1 opponents, I think of Magsorcs, magblades, magDK, or stamDK.

When I think of easy 1v1 opponents, I think of stamblades, and Stamplars.

A magplar can and will negate most of your damage in a 1v1. You have to run them out of resources.

A magdk can force you to eat the dots and use amazing St heal.

A magsorc duel build with pets, mines shield stacks are nearly as impossible as mplar.

Magblade similar to a magsorc, in mobility/annoyingness but more squishy, more damage.

AoE Magplars with Jabs, Skoria, Blockade, etc, ... A Magplar by him/herself is already a very tanky opponent since they can purge a lot of effects and have very strong heals, but because of the AoEs they included in their build they can attack me and my Bear at the same time which makes it rather hard for me to both mitigate my own damage as well as my Bear's. A very solid counter against my build.

Then there's the Stam DK. No matter how many Cliff Racers I send after them, no matter how many Shalk I summon or how many Fetcher Flies I throw at them, ... I just can't get their HP low. And when I do get it to half, they can heal themselves up rather easily, even when I do throw down Corrupting Pollen which applies Major Defile to them when they step in it. A fight against them usually ends in 1 of 2 ways: they get a good burst in with Leap or I run out of Magicka

Those are the specs I fear while duelling

A friend of mine, one of the players at alik'r deserts daily fight Club, did show me his troll build once. A heavy attack stam dk with moltens weapons, knight slayer and oblivion glyphe. It was ugly as hell.

There was this one crawler in Rawl'ka...

But no seriously, fought a Mag DK in battlegrounds a couple of weeks after CWC dropped.
Thought I'd be able to just burst them down and laugh of the damage, but this guys defense game was on point.
We fought for a minute or so, and then I realised that I wasn't going to win alone, and went to run off to another objective, but my god the Talons spam. As soon as I gave them an opening, I was no longer allowed to move, and got rekt.

So yeah, good mag dks are disgusting

1v1s are not hard they just depend who's the most cancerous, who's having a bad day, who's getting lucky, who's class is more imbalanced than his opponent class..

Of course if you put a super star against a normal guy it won't even last 10 secs but at a certain point you reach the same skill level than the rest of top players in your server (class knowledge, cancel skill, movement skill, ect..) and it's not skill based anymore but all those points above.

My hardest ones were against magplars,
but just because that class is completely unbalanced for duels, that's why when they come with another class it looks like a totally different person is playing.

This one in particular had 29k health and 3k recovery, all that while dealing enough damage to burst you in 4 seconds, I had to play like a total *** to even last and we went on for 30 minutes until the admin of the event asked us to remove 1 skill, I died after 1h of duel, the 95% of the time I was doing damage and he was just spammer his heals and then the famous meteor + purifying light + vampire bane + skoria + jabs = healing and insane damage = RIP.

I won by decision tho but it was still a loss and if it wasn't a tournament it will have been a loss while it shouldn't have I still remember how pissed off I was after I died like *** while I was doing pressure the 95% of the time and he just had to do that to win.

A mine-camping double pet sorcerer with Atronach ulti . Even a beginner player will give you a hard time . A master of this class will make you delete the game . There is absolutely no way you can kill a master pet sorcerer who mine-camps on 1v1 .

I've never had a hard 1v1. I either stomp or get stomped. Win or lose, to qualify as "hard," a fight would need to last about 5 times as long as my longest 1v1.

Probably when I beat multiple streamers repeatedly in true 1v1s in both Cyro and BGs, I will withhold their names to prevent the embarrassment of being killed by a "random".

CP 290 Stam Warden here; mostly purple gear, and just monster shoulders (no helm yet).

The class I'm having most trouble against 1vs1 is DK's. Don't have enough PvP experience to know what spec exactly, but it seems like they have Templar burst healing along with great damage.

Shield spamming sorcs give me trouble as well, but I can beat ones around my level if I play the fight right. If they have significantly higher CP than me, I have next to no chance.

Speaking of which, I was actually able to beat a CP 690 Nightblade in Cyrodiil (Cropsford) today. Not sure if it's a bug, but my bear seems to be able to detect them whenever they go invisible.

The most dangerous 1v1 I´ve faced will probably be against one of the few well-played werewolfs on the PC/EU server, but boi are they rare. They hit extremely hard and in the hands of an experienced WW player, very few will win a 1v1 against a WW.

Ummm the most dangerous are players, not classes they play and no, Im not talking about those "streamers", I mean players that are ancient like dinosaurs, they simply live in Cyrodiil, dont tell me that when you had seen Warbow on the tower you never have hesitated

I'm a horrible PVP'er, usually just get killed at once and only my Magblade can sometimes win a duel... But the most horrible memory is a one-on-one battle in Cyrodiil with my Magplar and a DK (can't remember, mag or stam). We just couldn't hurt each other, remained full health however hard we tried... It lasted for 20 min, I think, then I just lost patience and threw myself in lake Rumare.

My hardest 1v1 was whrn i found someone whi was wearing the same troll gear as me.

Stam dk vs health dk, both wearing meridia.
Qas a very long duel before i ran away cos it got boring.

With other duels, even if i lose, i often feel like i could have won if i played a little different.
But that duel, no chance

I wouldn't say Mag Sorcs are difficult, they are rather tedious and boring to duel instead and Stam DKs are an easy nut to crack on basically any other stamina class as long as you avoid the Dizzy Swing and block the very predictable Dragon Leap.

The worst possible matchup however? Any medium armor build vs Mag Warden. Depending on the level of stupidity the Mag Warden is rocking, you can be up against perma Major Defile, unblockable stuns, undodgeable ranged delayed projetiles, insanely good burst and obviously all the layers of healing. Stamina Wardens are kinda stupid to fight against too if they really want to be, which is basically all of the above but with way more survivability.

About a year and a half ago when I did run a heavy armor stam dk I had a 15 minute fight with a stam nb, he eventually won because I had been missing a few set pieces for my hundings set ( wasnt researched yet and i dont like relying on others for gear ).

My least threatening one was when my siege tank character met another siege tank character and we slapped each other with wet noodles for a full 20 minutes before both laughing and just walking away.

Right in the beginning when we where one of the few first ever vr10 pvp players, there was a certain EP Vamp Dk Emperor.
Well he was basically undefetable, so lets get real. (Non the less i did some 1v1).

I suck at pvp, so that could be the reason to.

Right now i am back from 1 year break and put all focus in pvp. But that means i am trying all classes, but master none.
Basically there are some names, that plopp off on my killer-history and i think "that guy again".... "wtf! 2x Crit-frags in under 1 second" or "boundless storm 11k + 5k prismatic + Heavy Attack + in your face". (And i had 33k resistance +3k Critresistance)

Also... its very hard to catch one allone and be allone ^^

Some just ignore me, because i run with low-rank caracters. At least they let me watch, right? ^^
Seems i am too much of a nobody

Though yesterday i had a fun encounter, (while on my glass-sorc) not strictly a 1v1, but the guy (a famous sorc on my list) just killed my whole pug-group and me several times without a swet.
After taking the keep we followed him onto a tower and he killed everyone. As a last ressort i cornered him, dropped my negate perfectly +crit frag procc. It was kind of a one hit... I am no tea-bagger or necrophilliac... but damn inside i did a victory dance.
