Now don't get me wrong, you need a tank and healer know what they are doing.

However when DD have no clue and don't get out of big red dumb on the ground I don't care how good your tank or healer are you're going to struggle or outright fail.

I run a lot of random normals.

When I'm on my Tank: good DPS
When I'm on my Healer: good Tank
When I'm on my DPS: good Tank

I don't think many of those DPS who queue as a tank and then can't be bothered to slot a taunt understand how much of a difference holding boss aggro makes to a smooth dungeon run (probably because they always run without a tank). Like, I'm perfectly capable of DPSing or healing without a tank - I don't deny that you can do the content without one.

But by Arkay's Beard, it's SO MUCH EASIER when someone slots a taunt and just holds the boss still. Its so much easier when the boss isn't in the healer's face and the healer has to kite. Its so much easier when I don't have to chase the boss around in order to do my aoe and single-target DPS. You want a fast run? Sit that boss in one place and I'll melt him as fast as you please!

If you want to queue as DPS to get the fastest run possible, you know what would really help with that? Slot a taunt. Sit that boss in one place and you'll get the best DPS out of everyone you could hope for. Make me chase him, and you just made the dungeon run go slower than it could have.

So I've done 4 trial runs, and the COMPLETELY random one went smoother than the other 3 because the tank either forgot to slot a taunt or we just forgot to get one.

depends on where you are searching and if you need it for normal or vet :)

I usually only run normal pledges and usually with pug groups from zone chat or guild chat and 99% of the time the people and their execution of their roles is just ok

Tanking and healing are both far easier roles mechanically to perform, and gear sets are much easier to get a good idea of what's good and what's not.

With tanking, all you do is taunt and do a rotation of your defensive skills and then block or alternate one or two offensive skills until your defensive skills and taunt need to be reapplied. Heavy attack as required to get stamina to block. Look where your dps AoEs are and try to keep the boss in it, which usually means standing still. Doesn't sound hard, but still something I constantly see tanks managing to screw up in my daily random dungeons.

With healing, you just put down some HoTs and team buffs, then heavy attack and heal individually. I'm by no means an experienced healer and I've completed Vet Cradle of Shadows on him and none of my other characters. The rotations and resources of healers is very forgiving.

On DPS characters, you have to get perfect animation-cancels and perfectly-timed DoT refreshes to avoid wasting all of your resources, and you have to focus down multiple targets in the correct order or a problem mob might screw something up for you.

Why do stam chars with bows que as healers? Good healers are so hard to find. Sometimes I have to resort to self heals--but that's because I mostly pug (which is probably the problem.)

SEE.... healers are under appreciated. But voted tank cause it's easier for good dd or even exceptional dd... they pm all the time (healer life <3 ). Now on the other hand.... exceptional tanks are just too rare. The ones who keep arrgo in line, edudure and sustain. Swap gear depending on situation... so basically the ones who do more than puncture.

A healer, just because 90% of the randoms just spam breath of life, even when there's no damage coming in. or they try to do damage instead of buffing the group. Buffing? what is that?

Hard to answer because all three roles add something to the group that leads to success.

    From my experience in PUGs:

Tanks: Actually the tank itself is a rare and shy species, but if you get one the most are usually able to tank at least a boss without losing a taunt. The good tanks who support the group (pile up adds, taunt multiple adds, care for ultireg and warhorns, buff and debuff and -most important - are build for that ressourcewise) are a much rarer species.

Healers: Actually I made the most good experience with healers in PUGs. Many are even supporting with ele, bubbles, shards and in rare cases you even see someone using Warhorn, Combat Prayer or even a lighting wall. I won't rate a healer after having SPC, if he does more than 50% of the just described support, I would rate that already ok for PUG standards.

DDs: I voted that, just because of the fact on how many DDs you met in PUGs who do unbelievable low or just mediocre dps even with good support.

Since I Tank 90% of the time I have idea of how I know I usually do things and when someone doesn't do those things. Chain, CC, keep stuff still. If the don't do stuff like that or use weird skills I will usually ask them why they are doing things like they are, most people are good with my feedback, others gets super pissy. But yea, for me finding someone, when I don't tank that can tank really well is not easy.

Tanks, mainly because there is a lot more that goes into good tanking than people understand. You need to have the right skills, know when to use them, know the mechanics, oh and, understand resource management and what gear you should be using for your tank build and how to spend your CP. Add to that that nobody wants to level as a tank so most players playing tanks have spent most of their time on that toon doing dps or maybe heals so it's a real gear change and too often these role-switchers aren't really that committed to learning to tank well.

I'm indifferent with dps. If I'm on a geared toon the other dps isn't much of a concern. A bad support player can ruin things though.

Great support players can't make up for bad DDs - its either very slow or downright impossible.

Great DDs can make up for bad support - slot a self heal, switch some skills to provide your own major buffs and debuffs etc.

I can agree on that, with my Were-Warden, whenever I am outside of werewolf form (Main form of DPS), I do most of my DPS on my Dual Wield Main bar, But on my Sword & Shield back bar (Main form of Tanking), I use a variety of Pierce Armor for taunting (and reducing an enemies resistances), "Leeching Vines" to apply Minor Lifesteal to Enemies (Particularly the taunted enemies as well.) who attack my Character, And "Winters Revenge" to Pile on the frost damage to multiple foes at once as minor lifesteal is more effective when facing larger mobs, resulting in mass healing which eases a fair bit of stress on the healer as anyone in the group with a good DPS AoE move will also benefit from the minor lifesteal against massive hordes of mobs.

In Short: It is hard to find mostly Good Tanks AND Healers (& I usually have a lot of appreciation for the other good tanks and healers for the hard work they put into their roles.)
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.
