If I didn't have the treasure map add-on I wouldn't do them, so I understand why console players think they are worthless.

If you don't have 90% of the treasure locations memorized by now anyway, you obviously don't do them often. I turned off treasure markers in the addon months ago.

Sometimes I like to go out and take care of all my treasure maps as a nice break from questing. Although the rewards might not be too meaningful, I like the system.

I was impressed with how closely the sketching on the map matches up with the zone, and it's satisfying to find the exact location where the picture was taken. In most games I look up a guide to find secret locations, but in ESO it's fun to complete the treasure maps without using a guide.

I always do maps - the only one I don't go to is Cyrodiil because the effort vs reward just isn't there.

Gold + set pieces + decon gear + misc other stuff? For a minute to dig up a map as I'm running around doing my surveys anyway? Yes please!

i must have done 100 treasure maps, never had anything purple let alone gold. i jsut destroy em now

    He means gold quality gear.

To bad for him as gold quality gear never drops from an overland chest.

I don't think they should get rid of the treasure map system but currently it just isn't worth the time. I know people still do them, but doing most of them is a net loss in gold revenue no mater how anyone tries to say different.

I think the system needs to be revamped. Say they buffed the rewards... 1-5k gold, 1 or 2 pieces from each of the overland sets in the zone you are in, blue-purple furnishing recipe, and a random furnishing item from the loot table of the luxury furnishing vendor. Now, I know you're thinking that's way too much... But it isnt becaue if they buffed the drops inside them then they could nerf the drop rates of the maps themselves so system wide nothing really changes.

Treasure maps would be somewhat rare, like they should be, and it's something that would make me go and turn in my maps instead of destroy or sell them.

It would be nice if they stacked. Writs can stack, why not maps?

I only sell the ones for really inconvenient or annoyingly-guarded spots, and Coldharbour. Treasure maps and fishing are what I do when I'm too cranky to talk to other people. ;)

If the treasure map system was removed (or drastically altered), would that free up resources for other in-game systems? More useful/interesting housing storage, maybe?

Totally can understand the performance issues around giving people more storage...but seriously, there were like 25+ treasure maps in my bank alone. If others are doing the same, that has to be a drain on resources?

They’d never release this, but I’d love to see the stats on the number of players that actually do treasure maps (and how many), compared to the number of maps in game.

i would like to see the treasure maps increased in quality a lot and maybe reduce the rng so they are really fun to get! :-)

I know. But as he quoted me and I was referring to currency, I clarified.
