It's all in your head.

Figure out what you feel like doing and don't worry about the grind. I confess I will do my crafting writs every day no matter what, but I let my master writs pile up for weeks. They are a total chore so I only do them when I'm in the mood.

Here are some general paths I take when I play depending on my mood:

- Pursuit of Wealth (farming mats, motifs, or flipping items from guild traders)
- Pursuit of knowledge (shopping or farming motifs)
- PvP
- Exploration - sometimes I just go to an area that I haven't been to for a while and run around with no real purpose
- Achievements - just pick an achievement and go after it
- Guild n Build - recruit for my guild
- Dungeons
- Alt development

yeah this is an mmo after all like others have said. I have fun playing the game so I don't see it as work although if it weren't a TES mmo then I would have never played it and never would

Its called self-control. If you dont like it, find something else to do. I often play my favorite games for thousands of hours before I get truley bored, but I do get to that point if I allow myself to play too often or too much at one time.

But you played 6 hours straight before that "wtf am I doing here" feeling arose in you. I usually get that feeling after doing 6 hours straight of whatever (sometimes much sooner), so I'd say it's a normal feeling. Actually if you can manage playing for 6 hours you're either enjoying yourself or some sort of masochist!

Just log out when you feel bored. There's no reason to play past that point. The majority of players only play like 3-4 hours per week. Playing a lot does not automatically translate into a better experience for everyone.

I'm bored of ESO but I consider worth keep playing because my guild and hope for the future. Some games I walked away from the past really got good after a few years and it sucked I wasn't there, won't do the same mistake on this one.

Depends on the type of gamer you are I guess. I still have lots of fun when it’s not lagging uncontrollably and I’m cursing at my character to “just fu***** swap weapons you piece of s****!” But yeah, I still enjoy playing it.

Haaa.. I feel you. As someone who had been at this game for about 2 and a half years now, it is not the new, additional, or anniversary contents that I come back for. None of the new contents have captivated me as the main story did. Wrothgar was also good, but to me, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves' Guild and Morrowind are a bit lackluster. I have done every endgame contents vet and hard mode within the first year, and the second year for me kept me occupied with leveling up 17 other toons. All my current 14 toons are maxed out, I haven't been ESO plus for months, and I probably put in an hour here and there each time I play just to kill time.

Yes, I do take time away here and there for other games and other real life activities, but when I do pop ESO back on, it has just been doing the dailies for one or two toons, writs and help out somebody at a world boss pit who was crying for help. That is just it. I am still very disappointed with all the nerfing still going on and have been for a long time, wasn't too please with the Morrowind content, and I don't think CWC will be any difference to me. However, I do like all my current toons, their difference, class, builds and setups, skills/abilities, and I still like to frolick around with them just to kill time for an hour or so here and there.

So yes, ESO has not been too captivating as it was for the first six or so months for me. However, I am glad to see ESO is still going and more and new bloods have been joining in the games. Also nice to see more CP added with each new DLC. However, Thank goodness for the options to turn off text chats and blocking dumb *beep* nasty people/players.

For me eso is a game and should be fun. If I find myself not having fun I do something else for a while. I've been playing since launch and have had a couple of month long breaks. I always come back though.

I don't necessarily enjoy the grind, but it's a part of the game in willing to deal with.

I had a 8 month break, played for 2 months, stopped for 6 months and started again and im enjoying it again.

There was a period when ESO was a checklist of things I "had" to do. Have to start by logging alts and mules to train horses. Have to do writs on all characters, have to keep guild stores stocked, have to raid on Wednesdays and Sundays, have to spend hours each week farming for enough mats to do writs, Have to craft gear for guildmates, etc.

It stopped being fun. Logging in wasn't something I looked forward to anymore.

Know what I did? I stopped doing those things. If I feel like doing writs, I do. Most days, I don't. If I don't add one more carry slot to an alt, my night goes on just fine. As long as I meet sales minimums, why bother spending more time on it? If I want to PvP in a group, I do. If I want to be solo or with 1 or 2 friends, I do. If I don't want to do dungeons, I say no.

The grind is self imposed. You can stop anytime you want.

When I play a certain content past the point where it has rapidly diminishing returns I simply stop doing it. That's what happened with the daily undaunted pledges, and this week I also decided to drop vMA. I have all monster sets in all weights impenetrable, divines and infused for those that are used by tanks, almost all dungeon sets that are good and all vMA weapons except very few weapon type & trait combos; I've even kept multiples of that, for example I received my 3rd infused bow from leader board reward this week and kept it. I'd rather go and do other content for a few weeks when I'm bored of something. That's how games like this work. If you do the same thing over and over again you become burned out and end up quitting. It's way better to alternate between questing, PvE solo/group and PvP to keep things going. When I do writs and train riding I'm basically on autopilot, and I don't even pay attention. I even keep something to read on the side while doing those.

this game of all the games i play is just a job with toxic jerks in the dungeons who yell at you for not being so involved in the mechanics as they are. I seriously forget them because i play several other pc/ps4 games and some real life related sports and music professionally. Plus i am mute (i can't speak) and guilds have generally treated me bad because i can't talk. I listen when i can but they just leave me behind. I join and i hear a big huge speech from the leader about how they'll care, how this guild will be different but it never is. I usually just get used for free stuff etc. I should never have given into it. It's a sad bleak thing.

I have tried hard to make friends in this game. People are cruel. I got bullied a lot for messing up or forgetting some mechanic because i stepped away from the game for a week or two. I am so tired of it.

That's people, not the game itself. Don't blame the game for rude and obnoxious people. I have made a TON of friends and met a TON of nice and decent people in ESO. While it's a bummer you've experienced such things, I think your negativity is misplaced.

It's a game that is loaded with fun if you're new. Honestly there are very few games that have provided me with as enjoyment, but this game has gotten stale, and the frustrations just pile up. I played a couple of different games for a bit, and then my guild mates started asking me to come back. I eventually came back after being gone for a good couple of monsters, and man did this game feel like a chore.

Truthfully I play this game for my guild mates, and for the PvP (which is rarely good). I'm just waiting until Monster Hunter World launches, and then this game will be dead to me unless they actually make drastic changes to battlegrounds.

All MMO's are face the inevitable problem: what to do with players who don't realize the game is finished but still want to give their money to keep playing the game. Companies have people saying "Hey, that was fun - here's some more money I want to do some more." and the company is like ... ok we didn't plan for this. But we do like money so let's make some stuff up."

Key for me is to step back and ask myself "what do I want to do in this game?" "What is fun for me?"

I find that often I am working towards some advancement or some gear all the time so i can be better prepared to....what?

When I never actually do whatever it is I am getting myself all geared/leveled/CP'd up for - or don't even know what it might be - I stop and take a step back and find something I want to do and make that a goal, or just make sure I spend time doing it.

Well, I've been playing the game for over three years now and still have not finished it, haven't even touched any DLCs. I find I spend most of my time creating and leveling new characters hoping to eventually find one that I want to take on the long journey.

If you ignore the meta, it's a game. Seriously, jsut blow off what other people say you "have to" do. You can survive without doing it. You don't have to grind the best gear, you don't have to pvp or pve unless you want to, you don't have to do this or that dungeon or trial, you don't need to grind mats for gold. A lot of people make it seem like these things are somehow necessary to function at all in the game, and they aren't. IMO it's allowing people to make you feel like you're in a race or competition that sucks the fun out of a game like this.

I agree, it's just a game, so play it for enjoyment. "Achievement" counts for nothing if you don't enjoy earning it.

Plus, take your time. It's not a competition, why race to see who can exhaust all the content or burn out on it quickest? In a MMORPG the destination is never all it's cracked up to be so savour the journey instead.
