Have you ever decided that a different character should be your main?

I've played with non-pet sorc as main for about a year and got bored eventually. Now my main is a magblade. It's complexity makes it a joy to play IMO.

My first character, so basically my first main, was a Dunmer Dragonknight. I chose this one because I already played a Dunmer in Morrowind. I had a lot of fun with her but always had an eye on a sorcerer too. One day I created a Breton sorceress actually
a pet Sorc (lulz b4 it was kewl >;3)

and that became and is still my main. And I am very proud that I made it up by myself and didn't use a given build and I feel very strong with it

I couldn't find my main for a long time. Stam DK was my first character, then magsorc, then magplar, then stamblade. Here I found the clue which playstyle I actually enjoy. Finally after creating a Magblade I completly fell in love. Now, when I finally understand the game and mechanics, my mature decision was creating a stamplar, which is completly different than Magblade, regardless I feel like a play a different game after onetricking the magblade for 1 year. Those are my 2 mains now, I just wish I could have their achievements at once. I won't create new characters in a looong time.

Not different character, but different class. My main is magsorc since 2014, I changed a few times race and spec (mag-stam-mag-stam), but then for some reason started playing templar (mostly in pvp) and liked the class. Now my templar is general, but I'd rather have this rank on my main. So I just want to change class on my main. And no, I can't level all the crafting, buy all the motifs and complete all achievements on templar - it's *** ton of work I'm not sure I can do again. #letuschangeclass

I've got four mains, one for each class. Though my Stamblade is my MAIN main, but I don't really have a wish to trade places with another. I'm okay with her being my "Do ALL The Things!" Character, even if I originally started playing ESO with a Sorc.

My main is my pet sorc because she is a very unusual build that was difficult to make and use so She will always be my main For pvp because I like a challenge ;) and she was my first character I ever made, shes pretty strong, its just a shame we can't control pets properly yet and they loovvee to vanish into zergs.

After that though I have to say my Templar Tank because he is a beast.

I can't nightblade for the life of me so my NB has been buried by Healers.

I love all my characters though ;)

Actually yeah I have. Or rather, I added an ESO "second main" just a few weeks ago. :)

My first main was/is a wood elf stamblade. While I still like her a lot, especially for the "BiS cuteness", I found that a magblade is much easier to play overall, as in solo and survivability. And since I'm aiming for as many achievements as possible for my main(s), including hopefully vMA some day, I started doing those on my dark elf magblade.

My original toon was a Sorc - I was too dumb to realise it needed to be primarily Stam of Mag, and just threw stat points where I felt I needed them.

It never made to level 25, and I then went for a Mag Templar that was primarily DPS but over the years has morphed to Healer / Support DPS. I have close to 85% of mt total played time on that MagPlar.

However, when Morrowind came out I decided I wanted to try something new, but just could not get on with a Warden, no matter which way I tried, and ended up with a MagBlade that is looking like being a near copy of my MagPlar but is more engaging to play.

I suspect when it get to 50 it will become my Main.

Yes. I did PvP and then started RPing. I had my main a Dragonknight, Zuna Roath. She was main for all I did in game. Then slowly my other DK became a bit of my main, I stopped having a main to have two, Rolvar Ulfssen. Things happened in RP, I took Rolvar out of the RP and made a third character, Hjalmar War-Shield, stamblade... I like... I told a friend I didn't want him to become my main, because I felt really away from my main who was Zuna. But I didn't fight it, and slowly both in RP and PvP Hjalmar became my main and I love him. I do EVERYTHING with him, even PvE. Then I made him a stam warden, and I honestly can't be more happy with him being my main. Zuna has been abandoned from all PvE, PvP and RP.

For the first year after I started the game I've mostly played my Stamina DK, although I created 3 other characters shortly after started playing. I did level those characters to 50 but didn't want to grind veteran ranks. After they got rid of them, several months later I did start playing those again, specced various skills, and caught up with the content. In time they all received full Undaunted and PvP ranks sufficient to unlock all skills and passives, I trained their craft skills so they can do writs as well, and even started researching the traits again - they are at 7-8 on clothier and blacksmithing and 8-9 on woodworking. In time they have become mains as well since I started deploying previously collected gear to make them highly effective for any content. When new content is released or I decide to do older content that I had not completed yet, my Stamina DK is usually the first one to complete it, he also has all the motifs, rarer recipes and furnishing schematics. Sitting at 25,875 achievements on him, and between 17.5-19K on the others. The process is still ongoing as I want to lift another 6 characters to the same status. The next one will be my stamina warden, within 4-6 months.

Technically I did within the first month of the game.

My Nightblade was meant to be an alt I played alone and my main was a Imperial Templar to play with friends, but I found the Nightblade more fun and my friends all left the game so he ended up as my main.

I think if ZOS ever released a true necromancer or undead specialist class I would be tempted to push one through everything in the game again and work on that character being a new main. Otherwise I have too much on my Nightblade to ever switch to another character.

Nah not really. My main is my first character, always been a stam DK dd. Used to 2h though :D
What I do wish is that I could change my character's orders in the select screen. The first 2 characters I made after my main were just so I could give werewolf bites to the other alliances, back when that was an issue. So I'd like to have my second most played character in 2nd slot, which is my tank, who happens to be in 4th :)

My original char from beta/launch was a Dunmer Nightblade, but I quickly got annoyed at the bugs and broken class.

Late 2015 I made an Altmer Sorc, pet DPS build, who was my main until Morrowind, and is still my main for hard content or PVP.

In Morrowind I made a Bosmer Warden, and have reached max and is my "new main" for new content and daily adventuring.

The other 11 chars are mules or experimental builds, some are fully levelled and can at least do writs, some can't.

Yes, actually. I used to think a main character should be one of your oldest, most played characters with all possible quests and achievements done. Had a magicka sorceror since launch, but back then things were obscure and I didn't know how to play properly and that there are other cool things to do rather than smashing mobs. So after a long break found myself into tanking and my dragonknight tank is definitely the main among all other characters.

A character which brings you most joy, which you are most confident with and you would prefer to play it for the most occasions - that's something that defines 'a main' for me.

Still using the first char i ever made - a stamDK - as my main. I like the melee, close combat, fast paced playstyle. I have MagSorc and MagPlar as toons but i dont know, i just dont like the magicka playstyle, for me its just boring...Its fun from time to time but in general i still prefer my stamDK.

Yes. A few times in fact. For me it was:

Male Khajiit stamina nightblade (DD - a few days ago I made it into magnb tank - works really well despite being khajiit)
    Female Breton magicka templar (DD)
    Male Nord stamina dragonknight (tank)
Female high elf magicka sorcerer (DD - but recently I'm mostly healing with it, occasional vMA and trials as DD)
Male high elf magicka templar (healer - I wanted to switch my breton DD with this elf healer, but both worked fine, so I've left it as is)
    Male Redguard stamina sorcerer (DD)

Now I can't say I have a main. I play pretty the same with nearly all of my 14 characters (much less with my pvp orc stamsorc, stamnb gank and mag warden DD - though I plan to change it to a tankheal soon).

Main is still main as achievement hunter and master crafter but plays the templar more. Simple as I prefer healing and its easier to get into groups or use the dungeon finder as one.
Thought of making an healer of my main or convert to stamsorc, later should give better dps as she khajiit and should give more mobility then questing.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

    Some evolution:
    • My original main was a Breton sorcerer. He has the most overland content done of any of my characters, by a huge margin. (None of the others has even fought Molag Bal.)
    • I made alts for crafting/mules in race/class combos I thought I might like to play more seriously later. A couple were Altmer sorcerers.
    • When I decided to start doing dungeons with my wife, one of my Altmer sorcerers became my dungeon main.
    • This week I've started using Group Finder to tackle challenges harder than those my wife and I can duo. I queue as a healer with one of my Breton templars. My better Breton templar is becoming my "dungeon main" in a hurry.
    • My Bosmer stamblade was created to be a thief before there was a justice system. He was also my main provisioner. He indeed is still my main thief.
    • I had yet different characters as my main enchanter or alchemist. All that ended with Homestead. Now I have one main crafter, namely the Breton sorcerer who played so much overland and has heaps of skill points accordingly.

My only characters who have completed even 3 dungeons each are the ones mentioned above (including the stamblade). I expect to add a couple more to that list who will still be under Level 40 at the start of the Random Dungeon event. :) They are yet another Breton templar (who looks a lot like my minstrel main from LOTRO), and a magicka warden.

Max-level characters stashed for potential future use include:
    • A Redguard DK who has a lot of skills and skill lines leveled up.
    • A Dunmer NB with less levelng who never seems to be my top choice for any of healing, DPS or thieving.
    • An Imperial warden who's a lot newer yet.

    Low-level characters similarly stashed include:
    • A Dunmer DK.
    • An Imperial DK.
    • An Argonian warden.

Everybody except the wardens is old enough to have all their riding skills maxed out. Everybody except the Argonian is high enough to have Rapid Maneuvers learned. :)

My very first character was a khajiit nb. This being my first mmo I had no idea what I was doing. He was a mess. Made a couple alts. But I didn't find my new main until Professor Kittyhawk, a sorc khajiit, arrived on the scene. He was just a joke character for light role playing. But he grew on me and became my main. Eventually resulting in me deleting my original khajiit nb and the old alts so he was at the top of the list. And that is where he will remain until the end of days.

Yeah, my early NB builds were messes as well. I don't think it was until I got to V1 Silver that I really started getting a handle on the class.

Well, having created 12 characters, I've found each is my Main...in something. 1st one ever created started as a Dunmer stamina nightblade for questing, 2nd was a tank which became my main for dungeons and other content I couldn't complete on my 1st. 3rd was all dps for future trial attemps...around this time I learned how to actually play and make sets and such so the 3 all got makeovers. then I needed more space and I had more build ideas so 4-8 filled up quick each specializing in a certain content or task. it went on that way for the rest and I may even buy the last 2 spots soon. basically, for something specific I need to do, I have a main for it. yet, for story and questing only, I use my first. Now properly set up as a mag blade for PvE and some tricks for PvP.
