Should Summerset Chapter cover the whole island?

Since last year Chapter came before the dlcs, and summerset is a big place full of stuff and players never been there in previous games, I'd say summerset will be a chapter.

However we all know that in the original map design, only the lower part (1/4 of the whole island) of alinor is covered, which is definitely not enough for a chapter.

So consideirng the "chapter" concept is only introduced after few years of development, surely the map of summerset should be expand to the whole map?

I'd hope that it covers the entire island.

    Lots of stuff to explore.

We need Summerset chapter, Murkmire DLC, and Mephaela's Web DLC. Web would make a great trial.

before morrowind chapter, people begged for all Vvanderfell being added, then when they got it, they were complaining how much unfinished it was(cannot enter some places, big inaccesible volcano ect). Summerset is bigger than Vvardenfell, if they will add entire island at once, it will be even more unfinished :P

Morrowind came out in June, so if they release the next chapter in the summer, that gives them awhile. They also released Homestead last year as well, so that gave ZOS even more work.

I hope it's the entire island and scaled a little more than Morrowind (if possible) to try and really have a larger zone to explore.

Yes but they stated their "Update's Plan" one year ago. Its like:
    Q1 - DLC
    Q2 - Chapter
    Q3 - Dungeon pack
    Q4 - DLC

So... chapters are between April and June

I wonder, if they don't plan on adding another class in the next chapter, that would mean more room for something else, which could justify for the larger landmass of Summerset Isles.

If ZOS plans to charge us for that "Chapter" the same as for Morrowind, then it has to cover the whole island to be worth that price tag.

Judging by the hints in CWC we may only be getting Artaeum. I would LIKE to see the whole of Summerset though. :(

I get the feeling Summerset Isles wont be out until 2019. Look how long it took for Morrowind to come when we all knew it was coming from datamined maps etc

Artaeum is the third largest island in the Summerset archipelago, so it's even smaller than Auridon. Thus, such small island won't be the setting for the next chapter for sure. But it would fit perfectly as the setting for the 4th quarter DLC - pretty much like CWC is connected with Morrowind stuff in many aspects.

Nothing in ESO is full size whatsoever, so of course the devs are going to give us the entire island in a downscaled fashion. Probably, what, 3x to 4x the playable landmass of Auridon?

Yes. However what constitutes a chapter isn't very well defined.

    .............
Personally I'd prefer quality over quantity. Substance over size.

I almost quit the game after testing morrowind in the closed beta. I was angry, upset and heartbroken that my favourite single player game was so half-arsed in ESO. Months later I did play the morrowind chapter and it is good for eso, but still not even the best dlc. Cwc is pretty good though.

I would rather have half of the sumerset Isles done well than a whole zone that gives none of the wierdness the lore promises. The cities are meant to look like glass, so maybe the cities could be offered as separate dlc's so summerset can be unlocked piece by piece, quarter by quarter.

Thats not true, the cities in eso are about the same size as the ones in skyrim. Same with anvil for example, same as oblivion. Now compared to lore, of course , otherwise the game would be 500 gigs.

Yup, it was in an article shortly after the Morrowind announcement. Q2 will always be a chapter, Q3 will always be a dungeon pack, Q1/Q4 will be content DLCs

You obviously don't know how software development works. They are already planning out and probably coding the next couple chapters. They have the story line written out and everything for the next couple years is laid out and being worked on. The work on this chapter began probably around the time the game launched. Yes it takes that long to develop something even the size as an island.

Probably depends what else we get in the chapter other than zone content - Morrowind purely judged as a new region is not worthy of the price IMO, it's short on quest content and, as people have said, it has a lot of dead space and unusable doors.Wrothgar has more to do and feels bigger.

However if you add in the new class, the new trial and a new PvP system then the whole package stacks up better.

So I guess it depends on whether it is solely giving us a new area in which case I would expect a full sized area with a full 50+ quota of decent quests, new Anchors/WBs/delves etc to the level of a main story zone and some sort of story advancing main quests.

Or a we get a less fully featured area but the extra value comes from the others things they add in with it.

I imagine it also depends on what each team has got in it's work queue and who can spend the most time contributing content and features to the next Chapter...

Considering that the main island of the Summerset Island is lots of different kingdoms, I'd be highly impressed if ZOS manages to cover the entire thing in the sort of depth that would do it justice. I will settle for ZOS doing some of the island in the sort of depth that does it justice.

What I don't want to happen is for ZOS to gloss over the major areas of the island in the sort of "depth" we got with Vvardenfell, where there was a ton of decorative locations and very little depth or room to explore.

Shorter me: I want a ratio of content/quality that's closer to Orsinium's depth and storytelling, not Morrowind's.

I was referring to the actual assets, like graphics, sound, quests, etc. Of course I don't mean they are starting from scratch as soon as they finish Morrowind. Their team has been expanding every year, allowing them to have different teams for each DLC/chapter, but I'm sure they sometimes have to temporally pull away people from future projects to fill in for the most recent if they are doing cram time.

Most of us know that land area does not necessarily equal content.

Whatever parts of the Isles are covered, my hope is that every part includes quests, new discoveries, and something for every player ... including something for the PvP player.
