SOLUTION for unattended macroing

Give every class a tiny (1 meter?) knockback that only works on other players. Put it on like a 3 min cool down so it’s not very exploitable.
Simple ... see someone macroing on node?
Knock them off 1 meter and they come back to their pc to find they failed at the days’ collection efforts.

As a bonus it might even knock a bot just enough off its preprogrammed path to mess up his day too!

No thanks, I'm a PvEer and as soon as another player actively interferes with my characters ZOS'll know my views on it  !

Every idiot in the game will take advantage of this. Declined a duel? Be knocked back every 3 minutes until the other person gets bored. Just zoned in via a wayshrine? Welcome to the zone, /knockback. Standing at a crafting or dye station? Bad luck, just been interrupted by a knockback, didn't lose anything did you? Fishing? Tough luck, you missed the reel-in due to a knockback.

Meanwhile the bots are carrying on regardless as their programmers will have sussed out a simple one line of code solution to it.

Does anyone seriously think this wouldn't be abused? Players should never be responsible for exercising discipline or control over other players.

Might work on consoles, where it's mostly AFK farming, not on PC, where you have fully fledged bots. Sill, would be abused by bored kids.

If someone stops me from legitimately getting a node even once with this, it’s going to *** me off far more than any bot ever did. So no. I’d rather deal with the occasional “unattended macroer.” As long as they’re not teleporting between nodes like in SWTOR, I honestly don’t care.

Guess I was thinking of the way most people play.
I don’t see anyone bored enough to waste the time to slot something like this just to be annoying once every 3 minutes. Maybe I’m wrong.

Heck no, they'd interrupt my fishing - and because of Murphy's Law it'd be when I finally caught that last rare blue I needed in a zone.

(Also, can anyone else see it being abused at treasure chests? I sure can.)

    Good point!

Plus, all the comments thus far are about the effect on PvE activities. I don't PvP but I assume there would be any manner of abuses open to PvPers, for example using knockback to interrupt an enemy player just as he was casting a spell (which to be fair could be an abuse in PvE too if mobs were vulnerable to knockbacks).

Sorry OP, but we need to find new ways in which ZOS rather than the players can target botters, perhaps your topic could be redirected accordingly as the idea of finding effective ways of countering botting is always a good one!

Will knockback afk char in stonefalls into lava....
    Groupfinder:
The worst part is when it finally puts you in a group, your healer turns into a werewolf, your tank has 14k HP and the dps is heavy armor, using a restro staff and a two handed sword on the backbar. Then comes the 15 minute penalty before the cycle starts anew.

    Rulz of Morrowind:
    • The first rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • The second rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • Third rule of Morrowind: Someone yells NDA stuff, uploads images, streams, the game is over.
    • Fourth rule: only invited players can test.
    • Fifth rule: one invite at a time, fellas.
    • Sixth rule: crying or bashing on pts.
    • Seventh rule: NDA will go on as long as they have to.
    • And the eighth and final rule: If this is your first invite at Morrowind, you have to play.

I can imagine what 'fun' griefers would have with this...
    ...no. Just no.

    ...

Personally I liked the way Age of Conan did face the issue - by adding random "special events" to their nodes that had a what, 10% or so chance of triggering?
...like NPC monsters that attacked you when you were farming because the sound of your pick/axe woke them from their slumber, or NPC bandits ambushing you when you were bending down to pick those flowers (no soap jokes now, please... oh, wait, belay that, go ahead but make them good ones! :p;) )

Another possibility would be making all gathering activities minigames that depended on player interacting with the screen to get a decent farming result - otherwise they mess it up, splinter the wood they were trying to chop, crush the herbs they were trying to pick, crumble the ore they werre trying to mine, whatever. It would mean gathering a node becoming more time consuming - which could be balanced by higher payouts if you do well on the minigame...

Nope. I believe it has to be an effort completely done by Zenimax.

Look at how many squeakers pelt mud balls at crafting stations.

This would almost certainly be used to troll.

It used to be that these Daedra mini events would drop near you, but that seems to have gone away.

There is no abuse in PvP. Everyone is civil and courteous. +

Seriously, though. almost nobody uses a castable in PvP. There are two many ways to interrupt, you could be dead before you get the cast off or they could LOS you by slipping into your character model. Wtb warhammer collision detection!

Put a 24 hour timer on it.

Better solution pay someone/s minimum wage to no-lifer investigate bot reports [snip] and ban. Have the process be we have reports we attempt to communicate no response while botters bot insta ban perma unless appealed.

ZoS has said several times in these forums that they investigate based on the number of reports. Which makes sense. Just get a bunch of people to report the bots.

Yes, have an chance of special event as in some mini boss, think of the oblivion rifts who happen from time to time.
Boss has an good chance of dropping crafting materials.

For bot groups, you go for an world boss, you might add mechanics who an bot group would not handle think some dungeon bosses.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I would prefer something that just numbers each node, and you can't get any decent drop from consecutive pulls off the same numbered node until you interact with a different node.

Yes, this is exactly how it'd be used too. I have had people in crag throw mudballs at me for farming near where they were farming. Imagine what they'd do if they could literally knock you away from a node they wanted.
