Hey everyone, not sure if there was a post about it or it was just in my mind, but since launch I wanted to make it so here it is and I would love an actual opinion about this from a ZoS oficial :D and the reason im doing this is because I really miss this from previous TES games and yes especially from skyrim...I am aware we cant have decapitation animations implemented but at least I want to see those I kill in a pool of blood or idk perhaps dismembered, it is why in my opinion this should be a menu option since for those with a "weak heart" they can just turn it off...how would this work? pretty much the same way we can now turn on/off visual animations for friendly AoE.

Would you like to have an option to turn on/off from settings Excessive Violence (by On I mean adding more Gore to the game and if possible more macabre death animations/ by Off the stuff remains as it is right now).

You mean, like some sort of... "Brutality Pack"? ;)

Yeah, the idea has been talked about before. And ought to be talked about again. I mean, I like good, old fashioned ultra-violence as much as a nice milkshake! (and shame on all who don't get this reference! :p;) )
I am aware we cant have decapitation animations implemented...
    Sez who?
If there is an option to have magic damage "killshot" animations, like burning up from fire attacks, freezing and crumbling from ice attacks or melting in green goop from disease attacks, why can't there be a "head flying off in a shower of blood" from sword attacks, or "chest cleaved open and guts spilling out" from axe attacks, or "throat slashed and blood squirting" from dagger attacks, or "skull crushed and brains leaking out" from mace attacks, or "perfect headshot - right between the eyes" from bow attacks???

And there could be a lot more...
...temporary blood splatters on all melee attacks, fro both attacker and victim, so that after a hefty battle your character really needs a bath to clean their armor (and yes, they should all vanish if you jump in a lake - no matter how much you nords among us may miss the bloodstains! ;) )
...NPCs that are story-hurt to -actually bleed-, or show other "grievous wounds" instead of just lying there as if they went to take a nap or something.
...NPCs that suffer the effects from medieval battles when they were too poor to afford a proper healer. Have some of the beggars in cities display missing limbs for example.
...dead corpses between "looks so peaceful, like just sleeping" and "burnt to a sincer / skeletal", thince for the most part, we -only- get those two extremes to spare people the gritty, bloody mess bodies can be in between.

And if it was a DLC... then only those who actually -buy- it would see the "bloody mess" (yup, another reference here), and the rest... would get things as they are now.

yeah but my point was to not really put it behind a paywall...that is a bitt low...cuz the next step would be what? ESO Enhanced Graphics-DX12 support and more! 5k crowns! no...just no... I like my way better in this regard sorry.

Lets incude full uncensored nudity while we're at it. Cause you know, how could bare breasts or man junk be even more graphic than a person's head being torn off or blood spewing from a torn limb.

cool so im not the only1 that thinks eso is so language safe :D was wondering why no swearing at all in certain situations where even the awesome made quest npc should be like... "man just *** THIS ***" but I totally agree the more more 18+ stuff and after all this isn't a game for children...it is an 18+ rating game so it must be treated likewise!

The only blood you really ever see in this game is during the vampire feeding animation which looks absolutely ridiculous. Until they can get things liek that NOT to look stupid I'd rather they didn't bother. I have no faith that they could pull this off at present.

Actually... I'd say GoT has the right mix. Spartacus-Blood&Sand on the other hand is an example of adding too much "blood n tiddies"... it should be there when it makes sense in the story, but not otherwise, or it becomes a "groan, not again with unneccessary the bloody/naughty scene" moment. Especially when they add completely unneeded scenes just to show some "fanservice" - its fun once or twice, but gets old pretty quick I'm afraid.

But as said, when it -does- make sense in a story... I definitely want to see them push the limits of their "M" rating! No matter if violent or naughty. Tamriel is supposed to be a medieval-ish, gritty and oftentimes brutal place, not a disney fairy tale. Think "Game of Thrones". Think "Vikings". Think "Conan the Barbarian". Show the gritty, uncomfortable side as well. Show the unpleasant sights as well. Make it feel more real. less like a game we play, more like a living, breathing, swearing, bleeding and sweating world we sort of visit.

Oh, and while we're at it... add some outhouses to the world too, willya? Chamber pots. Bathing tubs. Just as part of the scenery, to make the world feel more real.

But I guess that's the roleplayer in me speaking, I reckon a lot of people just want "the game" and are disinclined to think about such things when they just want to hack down dozends of enemy mobs in record time "for fun"...
    MornaBaine wrote: »

...and the dark brotherhoods "Blade of Woe" use. Which actually is a good first step to what I would want to see more. When we brutally hack and slash our way through ranks upon ranks of enemies, thoughs bloody well ought to get... well... bloody.
    MornaBaine wrote: »

Agreed. They bloody well should have done a cutscene letting bloodthirsty vampires "put the bite" to their victims instead. Hey, they could do it for the assassins. So it ought to be doable for the bloody leeches as well, right? ;)

A lot of people completely overlook this, but lack of gore has nothing to do with zenimax not knowing how to add it, or wanting to. It's entirely because it's an mmo, meaning it connects to multiple countries, each with their own laws. So an mmo needs to conform to ALL of the laws, or risk being banned in an entire country.

For a good example, look up Germanys videogame censorship. A lot of it involves replacing things with robots lol.

Considering there is very little reason to think this would attract new players in numbers worth discussing or help with player retention then there is little reason to invest the time and $$$ to add the required animations

That's the reason this idea will be added by Zos.

If you want render-intensive animations like capes and uniquely 'deconstructed' mobs, load up a single-player game. If you want detail-loaded environments with realistic physics, load up a single-player game.

Responsiveness and overall performance of an online game are dependent upon predictable, low-packet, easily repeatable commands and results. To simulate real time as best as possible without ever being real time.

Additionally, if they did start adding in layers of instanced animations, you'd be the only person seeing them. Which I suppose is great for streamers who like to overreact to everything, but it's a misleading way to present an online world - because it's no longer a shared online experience for everyone.

No. I want the opposite. This is a world with rampant slavery and racism. A world with intense politics and cultures clashing. I remember being blown away by the moral complexity of morrowind. Then it was watered down by oblivion and again with skyrim.

I want a return to that and I want them to double down on it. There should be brothels and slums. There should be violence and bloodshed in the streets. If you're an evil character you can join in the fray or if you're a good character (which I prefer) you have more opportunities to fight evil.

Don't worry, I know it's not gonna happen, though.
