FYI: Broken Armor causes the Armor active skills to be uncastable..

So if you are using a 5-1-1 and one of the pieces of the 5 set piece breaks...the you cannot cast the active skill now...

I was in vet CoH today on the last bosses...and I kept dying...when I realized that harness magicka was grayed out...and then realized that the broken light piece of armor makes it so you can't cast until you repair...

    Interesting. Sounds like having the broken armor piece makes the game read you as only wearing 4 pieces for the purposes of using armor skills.

    This is a good change. Makes repairing your armor a greater focus as it should be.

    Yeah that would be a real pain, especially on the tougher fighters where you get lots of wipes.

    While I can see this being a pain on harder dungeons where you are dying a lot (my first run of Vet City of Ash II comes to mind), this is also the very situation for which Grand Repair Kits were placed in-game. They aren't expensive and can be gained from crafting writs and, I believe, other dailies as well as merchants.

    Still, its worth pointing this issue out to ZOS, so they can determine whether or not broken armor should or should not count towards "wearing" 5 pieces of armor for the skills. I know that broken armor contributes no armor. It would be interesting to test whether broken pieces reduce your armor passive benefits or removes set bonuses.

    I literally have hundreds of grand repair kits...but if armor breaks in the middle of a boss fight and you lose your shield...you're pretty much screwed...especially on console where it takes like 30 seconds to find anything in inventory...

    Getting into a tough fight with broken armor will most likely cause a wipe anw whether you use an armor ability whether you dont. At least now you know wtf is going on and you repair instead of dying over and over again because you didnt even realise that ur gear is broken.

    Check your armor before you start a tough boss and repair using repair kits?

    I guess this means we'll have to be more proactive with repairing near-broken armor before fights, so that we don't lose access to armor skills in the middle of the fight.

    Yeah... I usually check my weapons to see if they need charging before a tough boss, b/c of that lag when your weapon discharges during a fight...gonna have to check armor as well

    Hopefully its a bug and it is not intended...

    It has always been if your armour broke you would lose that particular enchant on it but by the looks now since armour skill is tied to that particular armour type that becomes redundant until the armour is fixed. Easily fixed by making sure your armour isn't stuffed before a big fight :)

    If you armor broke, especially you only have 5 piece of one kind and one of them broke, you will lose active ability and tons of passive bonus

    Worst part is, shield can broke...and you are sooo died if your shield broke mid fight

    Working as intended. When your gear breaks you lose the armor passives as well. It's been this way since launch.

    I like this, seems a good way to keep people on their toes about stuff like that. I mean, just repair it before the fight and no problem. If you die so much during the fight that you lose all your armor.... well boi I got something to tell you, you got way bigger problems then just your armor needing repairing.

    Never payed attention to this, but for me it sounds obvious... If your skill depends on gear it shouldn't work if the gear is broken, duh. When you punch one tire whole car is crippled, isn't it?
    It's not L2P issue, it's "use your brain and be prepared" thing. You're about to fight a boss? Check your gear (running out of juice on your staff/sword in the middle of fight isn't funny either), food and potions - basics...

    Making you feel naked when it's broken doesn't make it important, as far as I know anyone with a little bit of experience can do trials with the gear broken so yeah this "change" is welcome :smile:

    Yes, I've experienced this just yesterday during an awful situation, tried to get harness in desperate moment, nope, armor is broken must have 5 light pieces, rekt.

    My god some groups must be poorly organised, right from the start I have always had it as "everyone check your armor and enchants" before a boss fight.

    Guessing zerglings are running trials now, just jumping in and hoping for the best.

    Shoudln't we just check our armour/charges before a boss if we know we've died a lot? I mean I am all for easier less stressful gameplay, but this is really getting towards the point of "why even have armour damage".

    Also I thought this was always the case, things you learn.

    Shouldn't be a bug. A broken armor is no armor! You don't get any armor value nor bonus from passives wearing. Of course the enchantment is otu of the question. So, it should be placed in your bag since it's broken. That is the bug (staying on you).

    Well, the passives and traits, and even set bonuses (I think) werent working when your armor was broken for a very long time.
    In cwc they simply changed armor skills so they require wearing at least 5 pieces of armor, so even though you could cast them with broken armor before the patch, now you cant.
    I dont see how's that "not intended". Whats the point in wearing broken armor anyway, youre not getting any resistance, and all passives are disabled.
