One wonders how Crown Crates are not seen as gambling here.
I got suspenders for saying "Testicular Mass" instead of "Balls". like, rilly.

Hey guys! I'm the ANZ Community Manager (hello!).

The biggest reason for us missing out with regards to the comp comes down to our local laws with regards to sweepstakes, as some of you have already mentioned. There are some rules in some states in Aus in particular that pose unique challenges when it comes to global comps.

With that being said, we've heard your feedback and we're going to do our absolute best to give Australia and New Zealand love where possible in the future.

Feel free to reach out to me if you ever have ANZ specific questions or comments! I'd love to get to know you guys more.

Welcome to the forum @ZOS_KelseyGamble looks like you might need someone to activate your green and Z symbol ;)

ZOS had a competition previously that was open to the states in Australia that did not have laws preventing people entering these competitions (like they do with US and Canadian states) can they bring this back for future comps? I'm in WA so I don't have laws preventing me from entering and I would have loved to have taken part in this comp.

@Curragraigue i wonder if the contest you mentioned had less variety in prizes, too. this one has in-game rewards, stuff they would ship to you, and travel invitations. being eligible by law for only one or two of those categories and winning the third one is tough to hash out afterward. i'm just mentioning how it can become complicated, not insinuating you don't know that.

If you want a contest hardmode mode, immigrate to Canada. When you win, you get interrogated in person or via telephone and forced to answer mathematical question without the help of another or device. Get it wrong and you are ineligible.

It was the home decorating one recently (I can't remember if there were any others recently) so it included in game prizes as well as some trade merchandise. All probably under a certain value which is probably why it was easy to allow a lot of the Australian States to take part in it.

Hopefully with Kelsey on the case they can try and work out how to get all the permits for each State for lotteries/sweepstakes for the larger prizes.

We're definitely weighing this up as well - the ultimate aim is to try and include everyone but obviously sometimes laws in particular states make that tricky. Where we can we're going to try and include as many people as possible.

Now if y'all could please move 10,000 miles to your right so we can shut up the US east coast PvP players that whine about you being night-cappers.

    Thank you!

    Hello! @ZOS_KelseyGamble,

Thanks - I think the issues with the law have become clearer now and I for one do have some sympathy about the challenges.
However, part of our initial frustration with this is that this wasn't made clear to us. All that was said was:

'here the the 10 countries that can participate, for others, sorry!'

A little more explanation would have been handy and likely avoided unnecessary speculation, confusion, threads etc.
Transparency is always a useful option.

Anyway, welcome aboard.. Let us know when you want us to talk about ANZ lag issues ;)

Thanks for responding on the post. I understand the limitations now. I think a sweepstakes was not a great choice of competition style this time around as even some US players were excluded (your primary customer base).

I hope you can come up with some new ideas for community events that don't require licenses or gambling permits.

I can suggest throwing screenshot and housing events back into the mix. Contests that require active participation or skill based endeavor are not subject to gambling laws.

    Thanks again.
