Spell penetration as a healer

I'm just wondering since I have no points in the lightarmor passive "concentration" I just assumed healer won't benefit from spell penetration, am I right?

Also as a healer do you guys use all the passives in the destructionstaff tree? Or just a few? Or none?

Healers mostly only use blockade of storms that would benefit some from the passives, but is it worth the points?

There are so many skill points in the game that there is no point in not having these passives. Get them, in dungeons helping with DPS is a thing and so you should get any DPS passive that you can get.

Sharp resto staff is useless if you are not making any damage attacks from it. Nirn or precised.

If you cast lightning blockade and then sit on resto staff - you can use charged resto as it will proc concussion like it is going out of fashion.

This, and it depend on content and group, has 3 setups, normal, vet dungeon and trials.
Normal is mostly dd with healing staff back bar, trials is pure heal only have wall of lighting as offensive.
vet is between with dungeon stuff like ward ally and mutagen.
Now darkshade 2 final boss require the vet setup, vet fungal1, coa1 and wayrest is normal with an non horrible group even on final boss.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I would say that it depends on your build.

Me personally... I find that critical rating helps my heals more than anything else. So I tend to stack it on my healer. Considering that, I may as well pick up spell penetration where I can get it so I can do a little more damage on the side. Healers who land a lot of critical hits with their spells can still do significant damage.

As far as destruction staffs go - I no longer use those on my healer. I like very fast damage over time attacks when I play healer. It makes it easier to still do damage that way while not risking the lives of your allies in the process. People tend to die extremely fast on this game when they take damage spikes my healing over time spells can't adequately counter. So if I were to ever use a destruction staff again it would probably just be for utility spells like Elemental Drain. So I would not prioritize the destruction staff passives if I were you.

Spell penetration is helpful for any dps you do but it is all a balancing act. My healplar gives higher priority to regen so she can cast nonstop. Next priority for her is spell damage (I prefer to call it spell power) since it boosts both healing and damage. Next priority for her is the size of her magic pool. Only when satisfied with all that does she consider crit and penetration. I prefer reliably solid heals to variable crit ones. And penetration does not help heals.

Destro staff passives - I take them all. But I'm also sitting on +50 unused spell points and can easily afford to. Lightning staff is an area weapon. So is sweeps and shards. That is, most of her damage. One of the destro perks boosts all AoE damage if you're using a lightning staff. That is good. I also usually have EleDrain slotted and sometimes Blockade. And sometimes even the destro ultimate.

This is the correct answer. For man content, once you get comfortable with the healing aspect, might as well do some dps. It is especially helpful when the DPS are not doing strong DPS.

You might as well put the skill points in since you should have more than enough, but at the same time, no. Penetration does not help a healer at all.

Blockade ticking for more damage? I do not see anything wrong with that, at all. Besides, unless your doing a vet trial or dsa, healers are pretty much damage dealers with a resto backbar'd.

An offensive/defensive set up is a much more entertaining way to play. So yes penetration, if you use a staff a lot, points there etc. Some guild won't let you have that freedom but personally you become bored stuffless fully specd heals and thats all you do.
