With the MASSIVE announcement from Blizzcon this weekend, the next ESO chapter needs to be enormous if they want to maintain any kind of a player base. I'm getting tired of this 'new content' that's always the same thing; new zone, motifs, quests, dungeons, maybe a trial, etc. They need to add some content that lasts more than a couple weeks. I am definitely going back to WoW, hope to return to ESO if they ever give me a reason to

They aren't doing a classic server because they think the game is worse off now, they are doing so because WoW has always had problems with private servers and this is a way to shut the people up who play them as well as other players who cry when a new expansion comes out that changes something the love. With a classic server all the kids who claim to play private servers because it was a better game will have no excuse to not play legit wow. Then of course they will get sick of it in a year and go back to their private server(if its not shut down) and beg the gms for free items.lordrichter wrote: »With the MASSIVE announcement from Blizzcon this weekend, the next ESO chapter needs to be enormous if they want to maintain any kind of a player base. Meh. Nothing was said at Blizzcon this year that would drive me in the World of Warcraft direction. Sorry.
However, they did reveal something interesting, even if it was not the main message. By releasing a "Classic" version of the game on a "Classic" server, they are admitting that their direction has strayed away from what is a better game. Even as they talk about new island zones for Battle for Azeroth, they are conceding that the orignal game was, in some manner, better than what they have today. Yes, this is being done to monetize the brand, but if it were not true, it would not be a good way to raise money.
Heck if your worried about players maybe worry about Eso because of the way trading is designed I have 2 guilds I'm in that have had hundreds of players not log in for the last 2 months including the leaders and stuff so I can't sell goods in them unless they come back, or I spend thousands in new guilds fees. This is on xbox btw so hopefully some come back in the new update.

Wow hasn't reached its stabilization point like all mmos eventually do. It started with more subs than anyone and no mmo has been able to repeat its success.

In a game that is moving forward and becoming better, no one really cares about the old versions of the game. To start a nostalgia server takes more than a few old people pining for the days of the original game. No matter who runs it. It really shines a light on how Blizzard has developed WoW in a direction and has not carried their players with it.

They looked on how well one tamriel worked out, and one issue in wow is that the leveling zones is dead, back then I played server was well populated but I could play for a day in some of the leveling zones and not seeing other players.By extending level scaling in WoW across the entire game, it sounds to me like Blizzard are more scared of ZOS than the other way round! It also sounds like the removal of PvP realms is a clear indication of huge realm mergers to come and those are always indicative of a major under-population problem. WoW might still have the best figures among Western MMOs, but we know that its population trend is moving in the opposite direction to ESO's and that must be a genuine concern for Blizzard - they're certainly taking some pretty decisive, and some would say desperate, measures to address it, with pretty lukewarm responses on the forums.
ESO is doing just fine, sure some players will switch to this or that game for a while as they always do, myself included (WoW being among them) but that doesn't mean they'll stop playing ESO or even suspend a subscription to it.
There's nothing in the Blizzcon announcement to make me more or less likely to dip in and out of WoW in the future, but this is my main MMO home right here and that will stay the case for a very long time.

lol, the people that play ESO and seriously enjoy the game, aren't going to be leaving to go play WoW, only the people that are finicky will leave, ESO has been told time and time again that the game will die, but each time, it doesnt
