I don't ask my guild mates what they're selling stuff for. I look up the lowest price, and then I knock about 10% off that. Because I can.

Then your guildmate looks at the item and relists at 10% less of your price.

See a trend there? You both could have listed at the same price and both sold for a higher value.

Instead you’ll go back and forth driving value down.

When in town I check with guild traders. If I see blue and purple motifs at the right price I buy.

Finding them at 100g and then selling 500-1000g depending. I see people buy mine then list higher. Am I bothered? No, I sold at what seemed reasonable for me and I made money.

I sell some recipes real cheap, like 19g cheap because they are items of little value but I get more than at vendor.

Bigger ticket items need people to drop buy our guild trader to see. So the Aetherial dust sits on the shelf for a long time. I probably have sold far more of the smaller stuff to have earns the same amount as selling that.

People selling them much cheaper than you? Buy them! Then sell at your price.

Thaaaaaat's not my problem! I get rid of items I don't want/need and make a profit, because they are making me 0 gold in my bank. Literally anything is profit. I reinvest that profit into items with less volatile price ranges. Profit. Reinvest. Climb the ladder.

    Welcome to capitalism.

Since anything is profit...I offer you one gold for each Tempering Alloy. They make zero gold sitting in the bank after all.

    Deal? Capitalism, right?

You forgot part of the process. People out there are willing and able to offer two gold doubling his profit with no more effort nor time. A capitalist is going to take the two gold.

Are you talking of the ESO economy or attempting to bring in real life economics?

Supply and demand or whatever elementary economic argument you bring doesn’t have anything to do with knowingly being a jerkbag to your own guildmates.

There's not a big difference, it all follows similar principals.

Why would I sell you something for 1 gold when it vendors for more? Why would I sell it to you for 1 gold when I could post it for 5k and have it bought instantly? Why would I sell it for 1 gold when I could sit on that investment and sell it the next time the meta shifts and the price of gold tempers skyrockets for a limited window?

If you're just asking me to care about someone else's profits, I don't.

Obviously, he’s not going to vend Tempering Alloy or sell at one gold.

You and frankly many others get hyperactive with selling. It has to sell immediately for some odd reason.

At the end of the day, I honestly don’t care. I only sell items that are hard for clowns to undercut (because they don’t have them).

You should still care about your own profits, though. If there is a cycle of undercutting in the guild, which I see on PS4 NA, then everyone is selling that item for less - including you, who now has to undercut your own previously-undercut price.

If you could actually wait a day or two, you could sell the item for the same price as everyone else in your store. What is gained by, in effect, lowering the price you and your guild get for an item going forward? You are taking money out of your own pocket, too. Unless you'll maintain that your undercut price is the only way that item would sell at all.

Note: I see this on PS4. It's possible this isn't a thing that happens on PC because of the add-on tools that exist.

The solution to botting is for ZOS to take it seriously. Like memory hacking, ZOS does not do everything it can to mitigate cheating via bots.
