You only have 1 staff active at anytime, so you only have 4 pc Julianos. You traded the 5th pc bonus of Julianos for 2nd pc bonus of Slimecrawl. That is a heap of Spell Damage lost.

You know, I have heard and read so many differing opinions on armor sets for sorcs that it has become more daunting than helpful. And, I hear all of this mostly from Veteran players. With my playstyle, I am seeing higher damage done more now than before I changed to the SlimCrawl monster set. But, you don't have to rake my word for it. Together with my shields, I am beginning to stay alive more, as well.

It is totally unfair how you....ZOS....continue to morph the SORCs, because of a few crybabies who cannot compete with them in PvP: Because they don't want to put the time and effort into building their Toon in order to compete like the SORCs have.

I wasn't satisfied with my Breton Magicka SORC despite the fact that she was at CP260 and dressed in 5 pieces of Julianos; 5 pieces of Necropotence and the SlimeClaw Monster Helm/ Shoulder. I wasn't satisfied because she was still too damn squishy and her health and DPS was terrible.

As a result, I created another Toon, a High Elf Magicka SORC this time. Low and behold she had better health, stamina, and DPS. So, while I brought her up through the low levels her health after consuming food was up around 18,000 t0 20,000. And now, having reached CP260 my High Elf Magicka SORC's health has fallen to 17,000 even after coming food. What is the heck up with that ZOS? (I also replaced her crappy armor and staffs with those from my Breton--- the 5 pieces of Julianos; 5 pieces of Necropotence and the SlimeClaw Monster Helm/ Shoulder.)

"Oh, that's right! It's the player's fault. I keep forgetting. Sorry!?!"

Okay, so now let's hear it? Thank you.

There is a lot to talk about in regards to Sorcerer survival, which is what I assume you are struggling with and I'm sure that you got a lot of good advice, but the trick is to combine the right recipe of gear and skills that work for you.

First you need to decide how much you need to depend on your own skills for survival. If you are going to run with a group how good is your healer? If you are going to run solo then what are you doing for self healing?

For solo and situations where I don't know how good the tank and healer are I run with Hardened/Empowered Ward on my front bar, and Power Surge on my back bar. I keep Power Surge up 100% of the time (recast every ~30 seconds). I recommend using a buff tracker if you are on PC and have troubles seeing the visual effect on your character. You can also use Twilight Matriarch, but that is more of an active heal where Power Surge heals you passively while you are doing damage.

Speaking of doing damage, Power Surge applies a heal only when you do Critical Damage which means you need some Spell Critical for it to be effective. If your Spell Critical is above 50%, then you have enough, but if you are much less than that then you might want to run sets that increase it. Necropotance is a good set and is highly recommended for pet builds, but you will notice that all of the stats from it are towards Max Magicka. So if you run Necropotance then you also need to run something (precise weapon) that gives Spell Critical if you are depending on Power Surge for heals.

Slimecraw is a good solo set if your class doesn't have access to Minor Berserk (e.g. classes that are not Nightblade and Warden), but in a group with a good healer you should be getting Minor Berserk from Combat Prayer which makes the buff from Slimecraw redundant, so I would run something else typically in group content. I like Iceheart for extra survival, Illambris for more AoE damage focus, and Maw of the Infernal for more single target damage focus. Valkyn Skoria is also a good choice if you are proficient about keeping your DoT (Damage Over Time) abilities up.

Mismatching armor is another way you can add a little more resistance and stats to your character. I usually run 1 heavy, 1 medium, and 5 light on my magicka builds. Its not a huge amount of resistance, but it will also boost your stats when you level undaunted. You can also add in all the heavy and medium armor passives that don't require 5 pieces of armor for a little extra stats.

As for armor sets there are a lot of ways you can go. If you don't have trials sets (Moondancer/Master Architect) then good old-fasion Willpower jewelry works fine. It gives a lot of Max Magicka and Spell Damage and only requires 3 pieces. Julianos + Willpower + Monster Set is a great set to start out with and you should be able to achieve good DPS with it. You can use any random (correctly traited) staff until you get an Asylum or VMA staff to replace it with should you start doing higher level content.

Most people will say that DPSs should run with 17k health and put everything into Max Magicka, but I would say if you are having troubles with surviving then I would start with 19k health and then remove health as you feel more comfortable and can go whole dungeons without dying. The more times you run dungeons the more you will get used to the patterns of attacks and you will know when to block, move, and shield to protect yourself.

    Thanks.

Thank you. I thought that you alone would appreciate that. Otherwise, why did you bother to respond?

Foremost, let it be known that I despise playing PvP. Much to the dismay of ZOS, I am sure. (Since they feel that PvP players are where the money is.)

Secondly, most of it is all about the money, the materials and the expertise needed to craft the armor and staffs yourself. For what I really want would cost me nearly a million in gold---with everything legendary; along with glyphs of prismatic defense. And, why do I want that? Because I can and because I do. Just that simple. But not simple or cheap to make.
