Just spit balling here, I have played this game steady since launch on console, I took a few week break and played destiny 2. After experiencing the ability to save the raid groups progress through their end game raid, I feel like that particular tool would benefit a vast majority of players, new and long standing. Being able to pick apart a raid a little piece at a time gives a bit more Confidence to newer players they will eventually get through it, rather than grinding it out for many hours only to lose your progress. Also allowing an experienced raid lead the ability to halt progress knowing they can come back to it another time. many of the trials guilds that I have been in set a limit of two hours on any given raid that the group is progressing through. after that two hour mark people tend to lose focus get frustrated etc. being able to escape that environment and come back another day fresh and focused one may pick up on a mistake they were making a little easier. this mechanic already exists with maelstrom saving your progress after each stage, making it far more conceivable to complete.

I guess this was sort of a nice thing in older MMOs like WoW. Since the raids reset weekly. Sure the trash respawned, but if you were working on clearing bosses trash mobs were more of just an annoyance and chance for additional mats to drop. You didn't have to sit and just go through ti all at once. Which was really nice back when the first people were goint into Molten Core. After 3-4 hours people would start get burnt out. Being able t come back in the next day or something was nice.

Remember that Destiny has a raid size half that of a Trial in ESO.

Finding a time when all 12 people are ready to go again really isn't easy. Really the only time that sort of thing would see use is in guilds, and if my own experience is anything to go byeven with 3-4 new players, it doesn't take that long tto actually get through a Vet Trial provided you have the DPS.

I play a character called "Gives Me Wood Elf" because I am a mature and sensible person.

I agree with you that outside of the trials guild this mechanic wouldn't be as beneficial. I would expect that trials guilds will use this tool more. I understand that many raid guilds right now struggle to fill the roster mainly because the older players don't want to take the time to teach the mechanics to the newer players. One of the guilds I'm in is a perfect example we can get through the twins no problem, usually, But we are losing focus by the time we get to rahkat, and the raid ends up not being completed. This mechanic likely wouldn't be used by your top-tier players as much but would be used by up-and-coming new players in collaboration with a few that know what they're doing.
