ZOS, please add an option to respec skill points one-by-one!!!!!!!!

ZOS, could you please (similar to champion points respec) add an option to respec the skill points one-by one?

It really is really really bad when I have 165 skill points and when I just slightly want to change my build - just change few morphs or skills, that I "have to" reset it all and then 20 minutes click those 165 skill points back on.

I really do not care if it would cost a flat costs of 5000 gold or if it would be for example 1000 gold for one skill point, just PLEASE add this feature ASAP!!!!!

I bet everyone will appreciate this feature!!!!

Thank you in advance!!!!!

Agreed, this needs to happen. It wastes alot of time. Most the time when I respec its only 1 or 2 skills, but I have to do every one of them and waste time that I could be doing other things....

If you just want to change a morph, you don't need to reset all skill points, you can reset the morphs separately.

Of course an option to change one morph specifically would be better, but at least it shouldn't take 20 minutes to reapply the morphs. For me it usually takes maybe 2 minutes. ;)

ZOS stated about 2 years ago they were working on a way to respec a single skill line (which would be the best solution really).

However, here we are 2 years later and the best we have are our Morphs.

For one, I would like to be able to respec the Crafting so I can recover points in say, Research Passives that I no longer need to be invested in.

Here is my Christmas List for how skill respecs should be offered:

    1. All Skills (what we have now)
    2. All Morphs (what we have now)
    3. One Skill or Class Line (which would include Guild lines)
    4. All Actives (so we leave our passives in place)

The last one is something that may not be needed if we could just get #3.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I'm not usually one to necro old threads, but this is the most recent one to discuss a QoL problem that has been around since release and I have yet to see an admin weigh in and state whether or not (if it's impossible just say so!) they plan on making this tedious task any easier.

Other threads on the same basic topic:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/299006/zos-why-can-we-not-respec-skill-points-one-by-one-the-same-way-as-champion-points/p1

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/313212/skill-points-respec

My proposal is simple and to the point:
    - Don't change the cost. Respeccing will still cost (x)gold per skill point you've earned. This allows the system coding to remain as it is and reduces the programming changes needed. I'm not asking to be billed only for the skill points I want to move - this is a QoL improvement for those who don't want to spend half an hour trying to remember where all their points were: not an attempt to be cheap.

    - Treat it the same way Champion Points are done. Respeccing just opens up a "skill point editor" that allows you to remove/add skill points from any active or passive skill. note* This would not automatically remove skill points from skills that you don't have any need to edit. Skills that are morphed would revert to the unmorphed version with one skill point removed, and would have both morphs available to put a skill point back into.

    - Finalize your actions when you're done and the skill points are now locked in.

There may be add-ons on PC that create a skill point template to help you remember where your points were and maybe even expedite the allocation process, but on console (where I play) there is nothing convenient about this process. I would gladly pay the same amount of gold that a full respec costs just to change a few passives or active skills that I don't use anymore, so again I want to stress I'm not looking for a "per-point" respec cost.... Just the ability to respec one skill point at a time.

    Sincerely

PS @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom if you ladies could at least offer some response on whether this is something that was/is/will be looked at and if there's even a remote possibility of it becoming a reality that would be great. Silence is worse than bad news...

My main characters currently have 330-340 SP spent so it really burns the pocket when I have to respec, especially with the constant skill changes. Would like a single skill line respec since I don't want to redo 30+ morphs in totally unrelated skill lines just to change Reflective light -> Vampire's Bane

What about adding a shrine where one can 'reclaim' already spent skill points for a cost?

Once 'reclaimed' they may be allocated elsewhere.

I do not know how the pricing would work.

One possible suggestion for pricing could be:
    • 1 skill 'reclaimed' for X gold.
    • 5 skills 'reclaimed' at a discount of 5 single skills.
    • 10 skills 'reclaimed' at an even greater discount to 2 x 5 skills.

I think most people want some sort of way to move individual skill points around. It could be set up to increase in cost based on the number of skills you actually move. So you want to change one morph, or you want to stop using Dual Wield and use Two handed instead, or you only put points into a skill line to level level it because you wanted the very last skill only (and now want those points back to put elsewhere).

It is a huge hassle to only be able to do all or nothing.

I have something like 300 skill points, so yeah, it's horribly inconvenient if I ever have any need to change some skill points around.

Fallen Earth had a great feature where you used an injector and all your skills/stats became fluid and you could adjust them point by point for a limited time after consumption. There was a minus sign on one side of the stat/skill and a plus sign on the other. You just clicked the sign and it subtracted/incremented by a single point.

A variation of that would be helpful. That way your points stay put until you move however many you wanted and then accept a permanent change, unlike having every point upchucked at you where you need to reapply everything. Not to mention you can get kicked from the game for inactivity if you take too long reapplying all your points if you're not quick enough! And Z keeps changing skills so you have to take time reading them over before you decide to commit, lol

Best moment I had was when I respecced around 290 skill points, spaced out in the middle of putting them back in, and ended up with the exact skill point allocation I had.... 3 times!
And I just wanted to take out 2 skill points from the mages guild passives... :-/

When you get so used to how your build looks like, that it backfires during the tedious, yet also mind-numbingly boring, process of re-applying a couple
    Hundred skillpoints.

I suspect that this, or something like this - e.g. changing one skill line at a time - is already on the developers' to-do list.

    However.

First, to-do lists for projects of ESO's scale and complexity tend to be rather large, and do not, as a rule, diminish over time. Between patching or refactoring old code, implementing new content or features, and changing some of the existing elements...you literally never run out of things to do.

Second, due to the foregoing developer work has to be prioritized, especially as, typically, budgets and manhours are a limited quantity. Which means if you're the manager, you allocate your developer time first to the most critical projects, and then down in order of priority. In ESO's case, it is pretty obvious that things like new content and playability patching would likely be at the top of the list, while a - admittedly very welcome and useful, but still relatively minor from the "can players live without it for a few more months" - feature such as changing points one skill line at a time, well...I am sure they mean to get to it, and they might even actually get to it at some point before most of the player base dies of old age. One hopes. Possibly.

@Jarryzzt I fully agree with everything you just said. That’s why in my post resurrecting this thread I added the request for a forum moderator to simply state one of three things:

    1. We’ve looked into it in the past and deemed it not possible, not worth the time investment for a simple QoL fix, or just not something we feel fits into our master plan.

    2. We’ve identified it as a potential project and are currently working on it, or have plans to work on it at some point in the foreseeable future.

    3. We’ve never bothered to look into it, and have no plans at this time to pursue it.

These forums are full of salty posts, random “Honey, where are my pants?”, and even misplaced threads that warrant a response from a ZoS forum personality. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for well thought out, and civilly discussed topics to at least warrant a single passing line from ZoS.

Lack of communication from the people in the know is probably one of the biggest turn offs of any game, this one being no exception.
