Sounds more like you're burned on the genre itself more than any particular game. A lot of people can't admit that they are burned out on MMORPG's in general, not just any particular game.

I am firmly of the opinion that most people play this game way too damn much, which admittedly is easy to do. But, its really important to play a few hours and then take a break or just come back the next day. Look, if you're having fun great. But the minute it starts feeling like a grind just sign off and come back later. We're all guilty of this, but I think most of the salty posts concerning this game just come from the fact that people are playing constantly and OD on it. It's not a bad game, it's not failing or dying or anything else. It has its bugs for sure, but take a break once in a while and limit your play time. Not only will it save your sanity, it will extend the life of the game for you.

Seriously, its about learning how to play MMO's. Most people won't (and don't) get this - but moder game developers simply can not produce enough content to keep the playerbase busy without adding a significant amount of 'grind' - but what do I mean by Grind?

Well, I'm talking about some kind of incentive to repeat the same content over and over to beat RNG/accumulate more gold/XP/AP/skillpoints, whatever.. I mean how many people log in and the first thing they do is all their crafting writs? That is most definitely NOT fun.

Games HAVE to be fun - and once you start playing in a way that is no longer fun, then you need to find a different way of playing, ie. You have to LEARN TO PLAY in a way that you get enjoyment out of playing - and not get sucked into this whole MMO idea of dangling a carrot to convince people that they have to do a bunch of dull, repetitive tasks to get a bite.

Ignore the carrot and just do what you enjoy.

I had a lucid dream where I was my char and I was playing PvP. instead of keyboard and mouse I was attacking with my mind. was doing pretty well from what I remember (this actually happened)

The Wall. You're hitting what i call "The wall". People start feeling it after the 6 hour mark. You just need to push through it, totally immerse yourself and let go of all your problems of the earth. Forget about work, school, friends, family and any responsibility that might be holding you back. It will be hard, but once you push through that wall... You will become One with Tamriel! I did it, i'm not even human anymore. I"m an Altmer, High elf for the layman.

This. You HAVE to do this with an MMO that you enjoy. Breaks from time to time are necessary.

All games with endgame repetative content is like unpaid work. Endgame was always pointless, reasonless. Unless it's PvP ofcuz, cuz PvP is pure unpredictable unscripted gameplay without story.

Take a break and play something else. Destiny 2 or that new Elex or whatever...

6 hours. 6 hours sitting at a desk probably grinding I am assuming. That is not fun. Get used to the world doesn't make things happen when we want it to. Cut your game time down a bit. Go for a walk, lift some weights, call a girl. Gaming is a hobby and should never feel like a job. When it does YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG. If your trying to keep up with the eso clone army of meta unoriginals this will bum you out. Stop wanting it all now, adapt and ply they WAY YOU WANT not what some website or some streamer plays insisting it is the only way to go.

Why would you ever play something you don't enjoy? This isn't supposed to feel like work. The key is moderation. If you play 6 hours a day you will get burned out, fast. Playing something else for a while, or at least try to spend some time on something else to get your brain off of ESO.

games - all games these days make money off mindless progression- i.e. grinding.

i saw my nephew playing warframe, mindlessly going around in circles for four hours killing the same thing- and thought- *** games when i was yougn were not like that at all. but then again- eso is EXACTLY like that. the thing that killed it is free to play- pay to win and pay to progress microtransactions. ever since this model came in- and became popuilar - initially with mobile phones, all games have been built around it- which is- to create a sense of progress, satisfyingly so- then suddenly impede that prgoress or make it inconvenient (e.g craft bag, player slots, etc) so that ur hooked and have to play it like its a rat race. i say step outside it- play as u want, do the content u want to, and dont feel obliged to 'progress', most of all

    - if ur checking ur watch that u have to do ur writs- or putting of having breakfast to feed ur virtual horse, its time to take a couple days break u ll enjoy the game much more after u do.

Agree with you. But it's what mass-consumerism and extreme dilution (ultra-high competition, people having attention span of a gnat etc.) in the gaming market do. Sadly.

Hey..my family used to be very compulsive about playing softball - and believe me gnats have a plenty long attention span. they never seem to get bored with trying to fly into the players and fans ears/eyes and so on.

I only log on in the evenings for guildies and such. As a game? Since Morrowind, I dont wanna play anymore.

Stop logging on. It took me a very long time to be able to stop logging on into FFXIV due to all the social commitments that I've made. Eventually I was able to go into joint guild running and eventually pass it on to other people, inform them that I am going on a very long break (A year, maybe more) and stop logging on. I did not ever feel any freer. Now I'm trying to avoid making any social commitments, so that I can jump off massively multiplayer games whenever I need to.

If you feel like it's a job, the biggest gift you can give yourself is stopping logging on.

Yes, if you are feeling like the game isn't fun, but you still play for hours, maybe you like the game but are stuck in a cycle.

When this happens to me, I make a new toon and ( at level 10) enter PVP in the below 50 campaign. I join a group and run around Cyrodiil doing Cyrodiil things.

There're other options.. playing a different game for a while, not playing a game at all, or just doing something completely different in ESO.

OP, I hear you. I have really gotten sick of the UNREWARDING grind so I've been taking time off to play something else. I finally started playing Witcher 3 which has been sitting on my shelf since it was released. It is a far superior game, except for combat which is a bit limiting. Where Witcher 3 gets it right is in the story telling. Every quest, contract etc., no matter how big or small has the absolute best story behind it. Oh, and the environments blows ESO out of the water! I'll come back to ESO when I'm done, but I think I'll still be disappointed with it.
