Leapin' Clannfears

Not a fan. They weren't nuisancy enough, they needed a sometimes-unbreakable hard CC you can't see coming unless it's just you and a single one of them?

Are they nightblades now?

Are you talking about the World Boss in Auridon?

WB's usually have some unique mechanic their smaller cousins don't have.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

No, although I really don't like that clannfear either.

They changed the run-of-the-mill clannfears to leap instead of charging. And break free is not reliable with their leap-and-landiness.

    I'm annoyed.

I’m kind of neutral about it. On one hand, they can be really annoying when you’re just trying to get by and they pounce on you. On the other, that derpy charge they were doing before was pretty pathetic.

    From the patch notes:

Clannfear: Clannfears no longer charge, but will now leap upon opponents to devour them.

Crap. That is a mean change.

Well, here is how to counter them. Once they leap, immediately dodge roll. They can't change direction mid flight so will land where you were when they leaped. So, be somewhere else.

I'd be less annoyed if break free was working reliably. I'm having the same problem I get sometimes with hysteria. Full stamina (or close enough) but still can't break free.

Blocking also works, but only if you see it coming. :)

Are you on PC? I bound Breakfree/Bash to a key rather than the mouse as it was more reliable that way. I use the Q key as I remapped Quickslots to the 7 key. I kept using up potions moving around....Anyway, you can keep the mouse binding if you want, but add a key for a secondary.

But, my dodge roll technique works, see above.

What is more annoying is the distance that they can now leap. This is now also their initial attack as well, so they leap at you from 20M or more, which is clearly unrealistic. @ZOS_GinaBruno Their leaping distance really needs to be toned down... it's one thing for them to leap on you from 10M, but leaping 20M+ is not good. Even their charge had a distance limit, their jumping definitely needs a distance adjustment.

I think the worst part is when you have a couple of Clannfear together, one leaps at you, you block and release, but then the other comes in right behind it and knocks you down and both 'devour' you. NOT FUN!

I always wanted if Sorcerer clannfear pet was also able do such velociraptor move instead of ridiculous healing from nothing, in Lore clanfear are hunters not healers, if they were able do physical damage and support scaling from stamina CP they at least will become viable stamina sorcerer pet.
Press a button and they jump and takedown your enemy.

Hmmm. Battling away at a dolmen yesterday. Watched a clannfear fly from the back of the dolmen, out past the front edge and flatten a player. Was one of the oddest & funniest things I've seen in this game. Now I know why.

Haven't tried it with these yet but timing Toppling Charge just right against a Nix-ox is funny. Reminds me of a bad kung-fu movie with combatants leaping in the air and fighting on the way by each other.

This is lazy game mechanics. I'm sure this was done to homogenize the clanafer type monsters. They made the mechanical ones in Halls of Fabrication leap so to make to easy on them, they made the rest of them leap. This is want they do. Every time you see a patch and they talk about improved performance it usually means they have taken something out of the game or merged several thing together to save on space and memory. It;s what they do with skills, classes, npcs and now monsters. There will be no investment in infrastructure or man power. Instead they will continue to do this kind of stuff to made room for the next “chapter” (that will be sixty dollars thank you.)
