What you're experiencing is not working as intended - it's a bug. If you are in Cyrodiil or Imperial City and you crash, disconnect, or naturally log out, you should log back in to Cyrodiil/Imperial City. The only instance where this will not be the case is if your campaign is full (which does not sound to be the case here.) We're currently investigating, and thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Use sigil...?
spending gold on Sigil would be kind of expensive unless you are making a lot of stones. For me it is not worth the 20k stones I might have on me before I go back to the base.
I normally don't have a problem traveling back to camp because i am a mag NB. However, with this bug I can just log off and log back in and take a few extra steps to get to the base camp.
For anyone complaining about having to travel to I.C. from your closest Keep? Ya all need to realize it's a PvP area. I.C. is essentially a PvP area. You want the prize, be ready to fight!
I'll agree there should be a direct portal to I.C., I'll agree the server pop count should have always been separate from Cyro proper. But until that changes, what I won't agree with is PvE'ers complaining about getting ganked or attacked on the way to I.C. It's part of the game, and if your mount is in order (meaning full speed and stam etc.) It's really not a long distance from the closest Keep-to-sewer entrance. If your faction doesn't have that? Well hey, how about doin' something useful, and helping flip that Keep for your faction. Who knows lol, you might even like it!!!!
So go ahead, let the arguments begin on PvP vs. PvE. Ya all know what's involved from the get go. Why QQ about it.

Hi, I was in the IC today and my internet failed briefly. While I did lose 13k stone (>_<), it did relog me back into the city. OP probably got kicked from full server.

Unwanted change, just wasting time while travelling to IC.
With this change, ZOS should give direct teleport option to IC.

think of it this way. If you have a ton of tel var.you can simply log out and have them be safe.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom, can you reconfirm that ZOS view this as a bug? Is it on your to do list? I hoped you'll fix it by Clockwork City for sure, but alas, no.

Because there's no financial incentive.
