Since When Are Nightblades Super Tanks?

I’ve been seeing this more and more in both Cyrodiil and duels alike with Nightblades taking little to no damage yet floating sometimes around as low as 17k health (max). This is both magicka and stamina builds doing this. And it’s starting to trip me out.

I understand that I’m using a MagDK, and that particular class variant isn’t the best at burst. I understand that I’m still somewhat new to a lot of the trending builds people are all flocking to. Yes. I understand that. But, since when are MagBlades and StamBlades more tanky than both MagPlars and MagSorcs?

I can lay 3 or 4 DOT’s on a Nightblade, spam Flame Slash (in 5pcs. Silks of the Sun), and be doing passive damage from my Grothdarr proc — yet it’ll seem as though I’m barely scratching them at all. WTF is going on? Was a new set introduced that provided this ridiculous amount of tankiness, or a new type of potion or something? It’s insane.

It’s literally getting to the point that I don’t even want to bother using my MagDK anymore, as it is beginning to feel like I’m wasting my time. And that I’m just better off holding down block, and spamming crowd control effects.

Everyone is in Heavy armour now because medium armour is frankly crap on comparison. Will even out a bit more when HA wrath is nerfed upcoming.

I don't even want to talk more on this subject because inevitably NB's will get more nerfed down and they don't deserve it.

I like running s/b for heroic strike plus cloak plus dodge roll plus block cost reduction CP means I can mitigate lots of damage. Throw heavy armor into the mix and well ya know..

I mean given that this was a thing a while back
It should be surprising that Magblades can still be tanky.

Hell any class can be a super tank with the right build

Nightblade tanks are actually really nice and pretty under appreciated in both duels and small scale PvP. It’s really nifty that they have a bursty spammable ultimate that also inflicts major defile, and that their gap closer is also an armor debuff... lotta nice little synergies if you play the class like a stamplar or a Stam DK.

The problem is that in PvP, just like Stam DK, there isn’t much a tanky Stamblade can do that a Stam warden can’t do better.

NBs can be strong. But don’t let anyone fool you, “pro” player or not. NBs for a while now can’t really stack up to the other classes and those builds when spec’d properly.

Stam NB in particular is much better at open world PvP than it is in a duel.

Okay, I checked it out ... and nope ... I'm still squishy, still die pretty easy. :'(

After doing some digging around, I came to the discovery that Nightblades have been using TrollKing and vitality pots a lot. As well as dawning heavy armor. Unless of course they’re ganking, and rely on Selene and all that jazz. But, those are the Nightblades who are asking for duels and are so openly confrontational on the battlefield. As the typical Nightblade prefers the standard “hit n’ run” tactic. Trying to quickly burst down a target, and then escape. These new Nightblades sport a more tanky build, and are aimed at sustained fights.

I like a more bruiser type of playstyle for my NB ... I like 'the dance of the fight' ... and this means medium armor. I hate heavy armor, it ruins my play style. I also don't like proc sets, and ganking ... ganking is for sissys ... it's so hit and run' ... it's what scared little girls do ... not exactly my cup of tea.
Proc sets ... I will admit that I did wear engine guardian for a while when I first got it. I also liked the Defiler set. Tried it out during Morrowind beta and found it to be so amusing that I got a set when Morrowind went live. Only used it in pve ... it was so hilarious to see that big hulking, skinny-legged creature, jaunt away from me to 'try' and get within 'hurl distance' of nearby enemies ... will he make it? LOL ...my protector ... too funny.

Sadly, some person whom shall not be named here, had to go and spoil my fun by telling ZOS that the set was bugged, insisting that the defiler should proc at the target's location rather than the player's location. Why would this person do such a horrible thing? Just to be able to get the set to work with a ranged weapon. Pfffft. Such a kill-joy.

Anyway, Alcast has a new build (video) out that looks like a good counter to many of these heavy armor users.

The thing about nightblades... outside of a 1 or 2 shot build (I mean 22k snipe, not 4 skills in 2 seconds +execute). They take A LOT of skill and learning. Well, learning, if not skill. And skilled or learned nightblade can do a lot of crazy things

There has always been nightblade supertanks they were just more like unicorns in the past that people wanted to find and defeat. I ran into a number of the “I want kill the unicorn.” types.

I essentially suck at competitive PvP and have not been able to "LTP", but on my night blade crafting main with heavy armor I actually usually outlast and sometimes defeat other players when I am doing Master writs in Imperial City.

To me, Nightblades are easy mode. I try going to Imperial City solo on any other of my toons and I find it a frustrating and grinding experience.
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

They’re very much so easy mode. Otherwise, why would they attract so many beginners? Let alone be literally the easiest class to play in either a PvE or PvP environment? My first Flawless Conqueror when I played on PC-NA was a Nightblade. Lol. Was my second Flawless Conqueror on PS4-NA. Not to mention that Nightblades were always the class I’d use if I’m trying to quickly gather AP. Even though my main for PvP’ing is a MagDK. So why would I use a Nightblade for quick AP gathering? Because of how cheesy and forgiving the class is. When I am often out and about in general (in either PvE or PvP), the most common class I see recommendations for is the Nightblade. Lol. Yet I’m supposed to believe they are this very difficult class to master, and some hard class to build correctly. Lmao. Riiiiight.

But anyway, my gripes with EasyBlades as a class aside — I’ve gotten the answers that I sought for. And I appreciate those filling me in on things. I thank you for that.

Well with the next patch they will be the only class that can get major evasion in heavy armor so there's that.

Thank goodness that I’m taking the time to level up my 2 warden characters during this event. Because from the look of things, I’ll definitely be returning my focus to strictly PvE once again. And completely disregarding PvP. Just like before I had taken my break. I absolutely refuse to deal with Nightblade bs for months on end. As is Nightblades are the most popular class to encounter in Cyrodiil, followed by Templars and then Sorcerers. Wardens and Dragonknights being somewhere in the mix.

Alliance zone questing and working towards warden flawless conquerors, here I come.

They aren't going to be able to survive an opener with 17k health if it's just troll kings. They also are in for a rude awakening when you reverb bash them and moreso if you spec into siphon.

Once I am done leveling my magicka warden (currently at level 42 or 43), I plan on leveling my stamina warden (currently level 3 lol). And to be honest, I truly can’t wait to level my stamina warden. Finally a stamina variant of a class that doesn’t require I go and get Vigor to self heal efficiently (excluding Sorcerers of course).

Damn shame, isn’t it? Even worse is that ESO isn’t even that competitive of a game. Not even close to ever being in the realms of an e-sport either. Just a relatively casual MMO. Yet people behave this way. Shameful.
