When will we see an expansion of the main quest line?

After having played the game for 3 years, I hoping that ZOS will eventualy add to the story line of the main chars.
It would be intreresting to see the results of choices we made near the end of the main quests.
After their part in the main story, I find it hard to believe they would just disappear.

That would be nice. I wanna see the surviving members of that group show up somewhere else for some more quest lines. Maybe get some decent end of quest rewards this time

I was thinking that it might be interesting for the empires to expand into other currently unavailable portions of the map and whatever troubles come with it.

I would like to see contact with the five companions after the main quest is over. Depending on who survived I would like scenarios like Lyris and Sai marrying, have a couple kids, live on a farm, etc; Tharn mellow and actually advise his daughter Clivia; Varen rejoin with his wife (Clivia) as the power behind the throne, etc

Just being able to visit them and have a half dozen or so conversations with them, conversations that update as the length of time between visits occurs.

It would not take much script writing and, IMO, would add some nice flavor.

Main quest is pretty closed you killed Molarg and got your soul back.
One issue is also who you sacrificed at the end, if you sacrificed Lyris you can not run into her later.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

The 5 Companions are done. Abnur fled to Cyrodiil, Lyris and Sai have left and Varen is no more. Its now squarely the Vestige's story. Which happens to be this coming Daedric war Varen alluded us to, where Azura has basically recruited us onto her side. Morrowind, and now Clockwork City is a part of it.

If they do have one of the Five Companions show up again for any future DLC then it would have to be Mannimarco or Abnur Tharn. Frankly, I don't see the latter happening unless they use all that Crown Crate money to rehire Alfred Molina (Abnur's VO).

Morrowind is an expansion of the main story (even though ZOS says otherwise so they can sell it as a starter zone). It's a direct continuation of what happens at the end of Orsinium. CWC will be a further continuation of that same story line.

I thought his voice actor was SOLID definitely worth bringing back imo if they ever decide to include Abnur in more content.

As the content is expanding, we should have a chance to run into them again.

Even possibly running into them again doing whatever would be interesting. It gives more depth to the story if you feel like the chars have a life outside of the main line.
Seeing Varen again at the end of the Wrothgar quest was nice.

My guess: Not until they release a new base game. Orsinium and Vvardenfell are not additions to the main story, just relatives to the main story.

Interesting how you worded that. Relatives of the main story. Considering how ZOS decided to handle dlc's and "expansions" where there is no requirement as to what content you need to have completed before beginning them, they really can't do something like this unless they break the formula they've been using all this time. It's confusing enough for new players who joined up with Morrowind since you're thrown into a new tutorial that has nothing to do with the base games main story. Unless they decide to do something more ambitious and actually have content completion requirements for future dlc and expansions.

But oh imagine the uproar there'll be about that.... Damned of they do, damned if they don't. That was sort of what turned me off FFXIV. All that tedious story and dungeon grinding before you could do their expansion stuff. It wouldn't bother me as much if ESO did something like that as I've been here since the beginning but I can see how having so much content to slog through to be caught up with OG players would be a turn off.

When it is time, they will break the formula and do whatever they need to do.

My guess is that one of two things are going to happen in the future, should they decide to continue expanding ESO. The first possibilty is that they come out with a "super Chapter" that extends the main story. This will be like Morrowind, but be a true expansion pack. I don't think they are going to do this.

If they keep going with the quarterly DLC and Chapters, they have a problem with there being a large bar for new players. New players will see the game, but they will also see a boatload of DLC and Chapters that they also need to buy. This is going to be confusing and intimidating to new players. To solve this, all they need to do is release a new Elder Scrolls MMO game that is based on ESO. For the price of a new game, or an expensive upgrade, all of the Chapters and DLC are rolled up into the base game, and they can extend the main quest, along with anything else they want to toss in. This also provides an event to attract attention to the game, which they are going to need if they want to keep people talking about the game.

Meanwhile, they are free to toss in "teasers" when they roll out DLC and Chapters.

Just to clarify, you never kill Molag Bal, you defeated him and left him with injuries that will take a long time to recover from, but he was never 'killed'. Listen to Meridia, she explains it all in her realm after you defeat Molag Bal.

Even though by technicality, Molag Bal should be dead. You 'killed' him in his realm. To my working knowledge, destroying daedra in their plane finishes them for good.

I do kinda wish there was a conclusion/closure quest for each Alliance zone
Either for clearing the alliance's questline and/or beating God of Schemes where you get your extended pat on the back from all your friends through each of the storylines..
but I should probably consider myself lucky that ZoS remembers the Alliance Leaders for some of the holiday events.
("HIS MEATINESS" Jester King Jorunn > Jorunn the Skald-King)

The next big main story is slowly brewing amidst the non-Thieves Guild and Dungeon Pack DLCs
I.C was just an extension of Molag Bal's unfinished business
and I for one am looking forward to where that next big story is heading.
Especially if you are gonna get involved with all the Princes and their little conflict regarding one dorky Dark Elf's deal.

When will we see an expansion of the main quest line?
    ...never.
    That one is done.
The planemeld is stopped, Molag Bal is chastised, and his schemes frustrated. He'll go sulk for a while now...
Life goes on in Tamriel of course, and while that one is stepping back, others are coming forward to seek their own opportunities... and the next great story is brewing, as they have hinted at in the final scenes of Orsinium, and the odd prophecy questings... and in the meantime, other things happen somewhere, like the war in cyrodil, thieves guild troubles, orc politics, astrological issues, or the grim business of assassinations...

As for the people, well... of those who survive, some retire, some go on with their lives, and some are somewhere in limbo and hoping for rescue. Some we may see again, in various DLC missions (best so far - the sweetroll killer!) others... perhaps not. Especially the companions I would not count on encountering again, with the possibly exception of Abner Tharn - he might show up again someday, when we get a Nibenay DLC, perhaps...

Maybe, I could see that after the shivering isles DLC in morrowind. There is precedence for daedric princes being able to survive killing blows in their domain, even if only once.

    Maybe spoiler
If I remember correctly, The events of Morrowind and Clockwork City were lightly teased at the end of the main storyline of Orsinium. Further I think somewhere either in Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood DLC Clockwork City is also mentioned quickly.

Wasn’t Darien Gaultier (spelling?) the DC character knight a major part of Clockwork City? He was supposed to be trapped there? Anyways I I haven’t heard of him connected to Clockwork City since the teasers way back when. Did ZOS change their plans for the story over time? Without too large a spoiler, is Darien in Clockwork City in some form or fashion?
