I like how ZOS is so casual about LGBT

I think it is central to ESO's well-being to critique the developers when they change the game (or fail to change something).
But the negativity can be exhausting, so I vow to post 50/50 negativity and appreciation.

Me as well, really refreshing :) Finally it is seen as normal, also, that i can crossdress in the Game. I loved it in Skyrim, there i could marry the Male wizard Companion in Riften

Have lot of respect for Zos for adding so many LGBT couples in the different quests. Doing Cadwells you'll find there's a lot but my favourite has to be the promiscuous Bi argonian :D

I respect ZOS for the simple fact that it is not treated as the End All and Be All of an NPC's personality. It's just not that big a deal in Tamriel. There are times when talking to NPCs or Quest persons when I finish up with them and get a few steps away and stop and think: Did she say her wife? When you don't make a big deal about the personal life of an NPC or even a Player Character it makes them a little more believable in my eyes.

As someone that has an In Character committed relationship, I also like how when me and the boyfriend go out to the Tavern it is not seem as a shock that two males are together. Honestly, I get more grief from the fact that I am Breton and he is Dunmer. That whole Racial Purity thing, you know....

I agree. I can't tell you what a breath of fresh air it was when I found all types of relationships among NPCs handled as simply part of the landscape. Simply accepted. How it should be.

Well none of the Tamerial gods or religions are against it. Mara doesn't seem to make a distiction between sexes when it comes to love. So I'd expect it to just to be normal in this fanatsy world. I am pretty sure Diabela doesn't make a distinction when it comes to sex either.

It's refreshing to see representation that isn't "GAY! GAY! LOOK AT ME! I AM HOMOSEXUAL!" and instead way more realistic/low-key.

It would be nice to see the removal of male/female binary choices during character creation. That would be a cool next step.

I can agree with this statement. Of course not everyone would want a character that breaks the binary but it only makes sense to have the option given how both intersex and nonbinary characters are already in existence in TES lore (see Lord Vivec.) Of course there's some lore out there too about Argonians being able to change their sex via licking the Hist.

But think of the RP possibilities too if you're into that. In a Mephalan cult, one's rising above gender could be seen as veneration of the deity most common to shift their gender (who is also referred to sometimes as Androgyne).

Here's a link that has some cool examples of LGBT+ representation in TES games. My personal favorite character so far in Little Leaf cuz she is so adorable and her affection for Cassipia is so wholesome and gives me warm fuzzy feelings <3

TLDR - more options is always great.

You can make a scrawny man wearing a dress and lipstick or a tall muscular lady in this game, or you can make them look pretty androgynous, which could be nonbinary if you wanted, but removing the sex of the characters doesn't make any sense unless they were robots or daedra, and even daedra take on a faux-gender.

Any chance we can get back on topic about how ZOS has very casually worked LGBT characters into ESO?

Persoanlly, I thought that the Khajiit Lady crushing on the Dunmer Enchanter in the Hollow City was adorable. The poor Dunmer had no idea, and I always wanted to know what happens after you get to tell the Khajiit to just go ahead and tell her she likes her.

Rescuing Captain Linwen's wife was fun too: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Captain_Linwen

And Jakarn's male admirer Majoll is adorable: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/76166/jakarn-and-majoll-npc-side-stories-so-easy-to-miss "I'm looking forward to seeing Jakarn in action. I hear he's an incredible sailor. Lots of ... stamina."

It was going to be a problem the second anyone mentioned it. [snip]

But I agree, the writing is fantastic, and the grace with which ZOS handles these characters is admirable. They shouldn't be anything out of the ordinary for the world, and they are not. They're simply people, and I'm glad they're treated like that.

inclusion of LGBT characters should be a given in any game that doesn't suck, but nonetheless it is always nice when a game does bother to include us.

    Greetings all,

To cut to the point, after removing 80+ posts, we must remind everyone that threads are to stay on the initial topic. This thread is NOT about the debate of genders and who is wrong or right. This thread is about the relationships that are had throughout Tamriel. If you are not one who likes how ZOS is rather casual about the LGBT NPCs, then there is absolutely no need to post in this specific thread. Doing so is consider Bashing, Baiting, Flaming, and is all around Off Topic. All of which are violations of the Community Rules, and can result in action being taken against ones own account because they felt a need to stir the pot.

    Thank you for your understanding!

In Skyrim there was a guy in a ship near Solitude who stated that he isn't interested in women, instead he's happy with having a good book to read and a calm sea. I was like "cool, a potentially asexual character, nice one Bethesda".

Haven't see that en ESO yet, besides an orc stating that all he needs in life is to have a story to tell and a bottle of mead, or maybe I didn't pay enough attention.

He also has the guy who gets fried by the Ash Titan, to be fair. He sings with him. Kind of. If you count pained groaning as singing.

I like how ZOS also included bisexuals who aren't just playersexual, like the quest in Rivenspire where you help the lady choose between her ... was it her arranged-marriage fiance? definitely a dude, and the female Orc servant.
