Most likely competition with CWC. However, keep in mind that some previous special events have been extended by a week if there was a bug that prevented getting event-related achievements or had similar broken functionality. It is also a delicate balancing decision for ZoS, as special events like this significantly affect the normal in-game economy (and priority of which activities people want to participate in). Many players have already completed most of the achievements in last year's events, so might be less interested in an extra week.

Wasn't there a problem last year and they extended the event to compensate?Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

✭I was seriously hoping the delay from them starting on the 13th meant they were making significant changes and we'd get a slightly different event. It's true they have added two new masks, and furniture things (which is great, don't get me wrong), but I was sort of hoping for more then this for people (like me), who did all the achievements last year. I'm almost tempted to sub for a month and go trick or treating at that "other mmo".. how tragic is that?
I'm just feeling...

Deheart✭✭✭You know, I can't find a thing about the witches festival for this year from official ZOS sources until everyone started talking about it supposably coming on the 13th. Considering how belated the announcement of the festival is and the fact that clockwork comes days after the festival starts I feel that they were not planning on doing the festival this year and changed their minds about it when everyone started looking forward to it and talking about it.
Although I guess I am just glad its coming, since I wasted all my amber with Doug's lazy writ crafter after misconfiguring it.As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.0 -

I didn't get to play it last year so that's fine with me but it really stinks for everyone who has played it. It's really not hard to come up with a new quest or even a rank II achievement that shows you've done it 2 years running if they're really lazy. Halloween/Witches Festival is the one holiday they shouldn't be skimping on.1 -
