I will say the Grim Harlequin has become one of my favorite motifs. Shame it's Crown Store only, but well worth it for the aesthetic.

WOW! Thanks, you just saved me 2,200 crowns! While I understand that the Crown Store is here to stay, and am willing to buy a few select things for crowns (like limited time cosmetic items...don't judge me! :) ) There is no way I am going to buy a item that then requires me to buy more items to support it. My willingness to spend some of my spare cash only goes so far!

Actually, the Harlequin motiff is a very good deal, as you receive 54 (if I remember correctly) Mimic Stones in the package, unlike the rest of Crown-Store-only motiffs. Plenty of stuff to play with ;)

Well, you can also decon pieces that were crafted in the style to obtain the style mat: Grinstones. You can find them on guild traders too.

And as others have said, you get a bunch of Mimic Stones from the book as well

Its my favorite motif. I love the crazy faces and the chest window thingy. And it is for sure worth the cost, since like others have said, it comes with a much higher number of mimic stones than other crown store only ones have. I actually decided to not buy that one frost whatever one because it came with only 5 mimic stones. Kind of a rip off after getting 54 with this one.

You can also find style materials for the crown store only motifs at guild traders, if you prefer to pay in gold rather than crowns. Some people "buy" gold by getting the crown only motif, mimic stones, then making low level items and deconstructing them so they can sell the style materials.

They're not cheap, but if you would rather earn in-game gold than spend actual money on mimic stones:

    Grinstones for Grim Harlqeuin

    Stalhrim Shard for Frostcaster

Links will show you where you (might) buy them

As I recall, the Grim Harlequin motif is actually the cheapest source of Mimic Stones in the store. If you just want stones, it's a better deal to buy the GH motif packs, and pocket the stones. The same is not true of Frostcaller.

Now, that was how it worked last year, I haven't checked to make sure the new pack is the same.

I missed my chances for all crown store exclusive motifs almost certain they would be put in the game. Then I recently realized that the only specials on the crown store that get put in the game for collection are things that are non-cosmetic.

So any cosmetic item specials are get it now or get it maybe never. I plan to not miss out on the next few motifs this time.
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

This and if you deconstruct you have an decent chance of getting the style stone back.

Yeah, probably worth remembering that you can buy Grindstones and Stalhrim Shards from other players if they've deconned Mimic Stone created items. But, if you're not into that, then mimic stones are the only method of crafting these.

If you don't manage to accumulate the style mat during the event, and everyone else who gets the mat during the event sells out completely, then you can use mimic stones.

The Crown Store only motifs are not part of Master Writs... for now. I can see ZOS adding them into absolutly make sure crafters have to P2W.

You keep posting about crafting being p2w....please explain? If I can get the bis vet level trial gear and get to be emperor because I have a maxed out crafter with [almost] all of the motifs, I would like to know how to do it. If there is some other meaning to "win" in ESO, I'd like to know about that, too.

So far I make gear for new players for free, make gear for guildies for free [sometimes they tip] and spend playing time farming for mats. I don't really see the "pay to win" aspects of crafting at all....

Those are for the Hollowjack motif, which is also earned in-game during the event. The OP is asking about the Grim Harlequin motif, which is only available in the Crown Store and comes with mimic stones to be able to craft it. If you decon a Grim Harlequin style piece of gear, then you can get back a grinstone, which is the style mat. Those can be sold at traders.

EDIT: Regarding P2W for crafting, I guess they mean that in order to be a "complete" crafter, i.e. knowing all motifs, you have to spend real money. And, if they were to require knowing crown-only styles for the master writs, then in order to complete them, you'd have to pay real money for the motif. But, you can always just sell those MWs for gold and buy ones you can complete, so that's not really P2W, since it doesn't really matter how you get the writ vouchers and there are plenty of other Master Writs that one could complete. I dunno, I get that in order to be "complete" and be able to craft anything, it requires spending real money, but it doesn't strike me as P2W since motifs are just cosmetic.
