Green Halo? - turns out it's caused by Healthy Offering

One of my template characters has started to see green halos around NPC's and non-hostile animals. He is in Grahtwood outside Eldenroot. Almost every NPC that is not pickpocketable has a green halo.

Some examples - the stablemaster and one of his horses, Belkarth wagon quest giver and his horse:

This one horse has no green halo for some reason.

I've checked the settings and turned off all the custom colourisation options, but it makes no difference.

Not sure if this is just a glitch or if it's meant to signify something. It's very obtrusive whatever the case.

My other template character is not seeing these green halos.

    I checked the settings...

    4UkJ8zw.jpg

They are set at the default, same as all my other toons.

I tried turning friendly NPC highlighting on and then off again, but it had no effect. This one character is still seeing these ugly green halos.

Never mind. It's only one PTS template character. I can live with it for a few days.

The thing that hurts the most though is that bay dun horse doesn't consider me it's friend :'(

What class and what skills are on your bar?

In other words, you are probably a Nightblade with Healthy Offering. Interesting that you can use your life to heal an NPC horse though.

No, the Warden halo is blue, not green, and besides the OP stated he had a Templar.

That's it. He's a Magblade and I've been playing around with Healthy Offering, trying to see if he can kill himself with it (he can't).

So, that means if you slot Healthy Offering you're stuck with that obtrusive green halo around friendlies. There doesn't seem to be any way to turn it off. It doesn't obey the settings. Yuck.

Yes, he can heal NPC horses that have the halo, but not the one without it.

I also notice that you can fire off the spell without having a valid target which might be a bit of a problem in a fast moving PvP melee.

That's because you can cast it on yourself :P

don't worry...it's a crap skill and no one is ever going to use it :)

(you can even fire it at your Target Skeleton...not exactly what I would call a friendly NPC or Ally)

I played around trying to use it a self-heal, as a hot on a stage 4 vamp to compensate for low health regen. I took on a world boss. It works fine until the moment when you really need it, but then you can't cast it because your health is too low. I died, a lot. It needs recasting too often as well.

On reflection I don't think this skill is worth a slot. Whatever you're going to do with it, heal or self-heal, there are better things available already.

I also don't really use the tarzan thing, so I thought the halo was green... my bad

The halo is green because that's the color associated with friendly NPCs while blue is associated with friendly players.

They really need to adjust their targeting code so you can't target these NPCs since they can't take damage in the first place...
