In the Tales of Tamriel volumes (a.k.a. IRL lorebooks) there's several concept drawings of naked female argonians, and nope, none of them have ***.

I suspect that when the Hist created the Argonians their physical appearance was made to look similar to the other humanoid races, but that similarity is entirely superficial.

This is generally the accepted answer. I do not know if there is anything official but many fans, including myself, accept it as the real reason. It makes sense lore wise since the Hist seems to be more or less a deity of some sort.

Saxhleel hatch from egs, but it seems they do have mammal features. That would suggest their babies eat mother's milk. So what. It's a fantasy game, and Saxhleel are a species created by sentient trees. Trees like boobs, any halfwit could tell you that.

Well, Argonians are pretty unique in that regard. B)

My own take on it is that argonian "female-looking" forms don't serve a biological purpose, but a mytho-aesthetic one. Essentially, masculine and feminine shapes are of divine origin and all that biology stuff gets slapped on later when the gods felt like getting creative. We can see this with how the gods and daedra themselves are portrayed, having various iconic features associated with particular human sexes, despite probably not actually needing them at all.

The classifications known to earth is not relevant in nirn. Which is a different universe. Have y'all ever seen breastfeeding in a TES game? Those might not be milk glands on any race. Or argonians breast feed after out of body gestation

Yes by all appearances Argonians are Mammal-like Reptiles, even if those two things contradict each other. The Males have larger muscle mass (not sure that point matters though) and the Females have Mammalian Breasts (that point matters), however Argonians are Egg Layers, and how exactly those Eggs are fertilized no one really knows.

Also in the earlier games you only had one female body model and few to non morphs so you had to give the female Argonians a female body also for female gear, an male body would be even stupider.
This problem is still in ESO but less however that Argonians has breasts is almost lore now and lots would scream if they was removed.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Seriously?
You're all discussing real life anatomy to try to apply it to this game where they gave cat-people that still have litters like real life cats humanoid breasts and not multiple mammary glands to better feed the litter of cubs?

This game has it so wrong that you're better off just not caring.

My opinion is that thier form comes from the Hist. We know that the gods have mammalian (elvish?) features perhaps the hist was shape shifting and got trapped as a tree by Yiffre... perhaps it is more sinister than that could even be daedric entity that was tricked by the others to become trapped as a Tree. Argonian's are connected to Sithis who is the father of the daedra.

Litter is just a cultural word for Children, I don't believe they have ACTUAL Litters at once.

Litter is plural. They do have a word for a singular child. I believe it is often referred to as "ja-khaijiit"? And anyway, they're speaking english, even if they gave it a fancy in game name. English definitions of words apply or they would have made up a new word like "khaijiit" and "altmer" and all other examples.

Yeah? And Children is plural. If they have more than one child they can refer to them all as the Litter, but think about it, these Khajiit are practically Humans with tails, it's physically impossible for their bodies to normally give birth to the numbers a feral cat can.

But we're getting distracted from talking about OPs Argonian naughty bits.

There's a theory they produce Hist sap instead of milk, because they can choose to have live birth when they are away from their Hist trees, and baby Argonians lap up lots of sap after they hatch from their eggs.
