Especially when its not a real $ transaction mostly, even though yes crowns are only bought with real $ but if the reward is just crowns and a mount I would say it should be available to anyone since your not making any real $ off it.

    This.

If you cannot transform crowns into $ - there is no real profit for the player apart of an in-game one. If you follow the restrictions literally - you cannot get any quest reward as it is also a form of an in-game profit. Considering the gambling aspect of vMA/or any boss drop - I do not see it any different from the event lottery.

Maybe people need to start reading the rules before the enter a giveaway :)

You should better look at what TS wrote. He explicitly mentioned (and provided a link!) that "not one word about the country or other restrictions for participants". Then you will see that TS actually *read* the rules before entering a giveaway.

I still find a distinction between "eligible" and "non-eligible" players wrong, but in this case the "eligibility criteria" was not even mentioned!

As far as I can tell, there's no mention of any restrictions in the news article... Was there any info (or a link to that info) on the page where you could enter the giveaway? If that's not the case either, then they may be legally obliged to give you your prize anyway.

I remember our local supermarket making a similar mistake once. Laundry detergent was on sale but they forgot to mention which size of packaging in all their ads, so they ended up having to apply the discount price (was a hard number, not a percentage) on all packagings - including the large, expensive ones. Did a lot of cheap laundry that year.

Every contest and giveaway we run has its own official Terms and Conditions which are written for each individual contest, so they may differ slightly from contest to contest, and each territory has their own local laws when it comes to contests. In this case, the eligible territories included (i) one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia (excluding the territories, military installations and commonwealths), (ii) Canada, (iii) the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Finland, Norway, or the Netherlands, (iv) Australia (excluding New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory) or New Zealand. In order to be eligible to win this contest, each winner had to be a legal resident of one of the listed countries. When entries for this giveaway were submitted through our contest entry form, each entrant checked a box that they agreed to the official rules which were linked.

All that said, we understand it can be really disappointing to find out you’ve been randomly chosen, only to hear your entry ended up being ineligible. We’re going to close this thread as it’s dealing with personal matters, but @ThorinWolfgang - we’ll reach out to you privately to discuss this further.
