Warden VS DK werewolf?

Shir0kami
Shir0kami
First of all, I'd like to state I am still fresh in ESO. Still, I like the idea of playing a werewolf... now, of course, I don't want to be utterly useless when in human form, and ATM, those two classes attract me the most - so I am looking for some insight. Which class gives more to the werewolf, which is more useful when not werewolf (both damage wise and capable of standing it's own ground/surviving). Any input is highly appreciated! :)

I don't think it matters THAT much, however DK gets resources back when you transform. It's down to personal preference I think. There are class passives from both that are useful.

Warden is currently the worst class in the game. I would stay away unless you absolutely love the play style. They are not viable for endgame content.

Still, even if it's only lower levels, I feel DK is squishier with dps template than warden (meaning, all stats into stamina, focus on class skills to level them up, medium armor) - if not for any other reason, then for warden's ult heal and another stam scalling heal, heal from summoning pets and armor buff.

I read multiple times DK outperforms warden, but right now I don't feel that's the case - then again I am only leveling.

The DK passives are just nuts. They make the best DPS and Tank.

    Ignore statements like this.

Stamina Warden is performing reasonably well in PVE and especially PVP. Magicka Warden DPS needs a buff, but other than that the class is fun and has lots of passive self heals even as stamina which sets it apart in terms of survival.

Most of the DK tankiness comes from actually building for it, meaning heavy armor or specific abilities slotted. Warden lets you do passive self healing while you dps, with an "oh crap" button ultimate (Healing Thicket) with a VERY low ult cost.

Arguably one of the best PvP Classes though. And they are not OMG LOOK HOW BAD THEY ARE, level. They are rated very high in both healing and tanking in PvE. The only place where they are lacking is PvE DPS.

Looking over their passives and what they can do outside of Werewolf I would pick Warden, they are great all rounders that can survive really well on their own and still deal OK damage. The DKs passives don't really help in Werewolf form since they are all about their own abilities but a Warden can still get their Minor toughness and the snare reduction, which is at least something.

That being said, Wardens and Dragonknights are probably the 2 worst options for Werewolf, the other classes have far more passives that carry over into the werewolf form.

Not helpful one bit, I know that much, and I am clearly asking about stamward and stamDK.

@paulsimonps - I already have stamsorc and stamplar at max lvl - and while I just can't get into playing stamplar, stamsorc is vamp and in all honesty, I don't feel like changing her, since she is also RP character. Hence why I am now weighing between DK and warden. Thanks for the input though!

if you're talking about PvP, then go with stamplar or stamsorc (in that order) for sure!

DK has great defensive and healing passives, but the vast majority of those passives require you to use or slot a DK skill.. which you can't do in werewolf form.

Werewolves get huge boosts to their weapon damage. If you want a true werewolf, stack wep dmg and watch it sore to ridiculous numbers... stamplar for sure.

Stam sorc is also nice, but thats mostly because implosion is a ridiculous passive that needs to get deleted immediately.

Yea, Sorcerers are probably THE best class for Werewolfs. They get 5% stronger physical damage, their Implosion execute still works as far as I know, they 15% less cost on ultimate and 5% lower cost on stamina and magicka abilities

Templars gets 4% lower cost of stamina, magicka and ultimate, all lower than the sorc, and they also get 6% more weapon damage which is not the same as the sorcs 5% physical damage, the sorcs win on both fronts when it comes to passives in Werewolf form.

The stam sorcs are of course also really tanky in humanoid form and perform very well even both solo and end game PvE and PvP. So maybe another sorc for your werewolf build if you don't want to redo your vampire sorc?

And since I've listed some of the other things the classes gets in werewolf form, Nightblades get 15% regen into health, stamina and magicka, they do get the stealth attack bonus the nightblades have but I have never seen a Werewolf sneak.

Not sure if you're going to be using WW as an emergency button, but surge-WW is an amazing 30s for damage and survivability

If your choices are DK or Warden, I'd go DK

Dk is what I play. It's amazing for tanky solo content with good dps and awesome heals. I run Salvation, Shackle Breaker and Chudan. Here is a link to a post where you can see it in action in vMA. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/371298/the-flawless-big-bad-wolf/p1

Dont bother with DK or Warden , Stamblade khajit if you go for recovery build , and Orc stamsorc if you go for OP beast with Huge damage .

    ^This

Here's the thing.. Sustain is a HUGE issue with werewolf and our mobility was cut when they added speed caps. Now we're not even the fastest thing in the field anymore. Our base damage is decent enough on its own so even a tank char can get kills once he transforms. Generally you either build for your weakness(sustain) or easily up your damage to ridiculous heights. Stamblade and StamSorc are the best at these, respectively. Stamplar, in a lot of ways, is just a weaker Sorc WW. Weaker cost reductions, no magicka recovery(important!), no auto execute, and weaker physical damage(the bulk of your damage). Dragonknight is only good for Battle Roar and the spell resist passive. Battle Roar is nice, but it's a one shot deal that's only really meaningful in select situations. Warden will give you 10% hp and 15% snare effect reduction. The latter of which is nice in a snare heavy game, but nothing game changing. The two classes you're looking at just don't make a big enough difference to say one over the other. So I'd say it's more about which of the two you like to play the most while in human form. Personally, I like Warden over DK. There are a bunch of class skills that you can decide from and you're constantly self healing. DK have some useful class skills, however as stam build their magicka costs are way too high. You'll be leaning more towards skills that are not class restricted.

Right, thanks everyone that answered and bothered explaining instead of "roll X 'cause awesome" - your posts are all appreciated, and I suppose I will try and make second stamsorc for werewolf build alone.

    Thanks everyone! :)
