How about an option to make other players invisible, silent, and have no hitboxes so you can walk through them like they're a ghost
They did something amazing to performance on pts. I had way better performance than on live EU. And i usually dont have problems with it. The loadscreens were supershort and fps skyhigh.

Good to hear. I hope you are correct and their patch notes about it really are amazing. We shall see.
I agree to this to some extent (or rather I understand why someone would want this), but at the same time I don't think rendering someone's armour generates significantly less load than rendering a costume. At most, you could maybe have an option to turn off the special effects that come with summoning certain mounts / costumes?
In the end, the game has minimal system requirements. Trying to work your way around those will not only hurt your gameplay, but also your perception of an otherwise pretty successful product. I don't think ZOS would want to compromise on that product so some people will be able to enjoy most of what if offers..
Is that some kind of geek language that you know because you're a geek?

You must be a irl badass, that is why you spend 20h per day here with us geeks.

Do I though? Or do I hit and run and generally avoid hanging out with clowns.

The problem is that every new motif or costume uses a new unique texture and all those texture have to be loaded into memory. NPCs are loaded last, so it can take some time to get what you want done in a city because every player has to be loaded first. If the game only had to load one or two textures per race for armor it would go much faster. Already the players appear as black fígures for a time when they are not loaded in yet, this would be no different, only permanent. I also would be content if NPCs would load first and I could do what I want instead of waiting for other players to load. When I am in Rawl'kha shopping I'm not there to admire fancy costumes, I want the guild traders to load and get on with business.

I created a char, didnt take care what alliance i chose, clicked create and a Mourhold loading screen showed up.
As im in EU, i always had not that great connection when loading into PTS, but before i could finish the thought "Oh f, mournhold, that will take a while" i was in.
Next surprise was: it loaded me right into the bank, where a crowd of ~50 other template toons was standing around.
None! of them a black figure.
Than i activated the fps/latency-thingy and saw 95 fps. Usually i get 65 in an "empty"zone and 25 to 40 within populated areas. Latency was ~250, has been worse on pts. Isnt an issue on live tho. While qting around loading screens didnt last longer than 10~ 15 secs and fps didnt drop below 90.
I was really impressed.
