Will They Add Transmutation Crystals To Crown Store? I Think They Will.

So since they are adding this great transmutation feature to the game, and you need to already have the trait researched to change to the trait you want, doesn't that kinda make the Crown Instant Research Scrolls pay2win? Not saying pay2win like being able to buy a gear piece that you need, but still in that same direction.

If this is true, even in the smallest form, do you think this is ZOS's way of introducing another money grab in the crown store? I have a pretty good feeling that we will be seeing transmutation crystals available to purchase from the crown store in the future.

I still think they messed up big time and pissed off a lot of the Master Crafters by making it so that you can only change pieces for yourself. I think they were dead wrong for doing this. Master Crafters should be able to make these items for other people and the only reason I feel they didn't allow it is because someday you will be able to purchase the transmutation crystals from the crown store.

Your thoughts?

I certainly hope not, because that would literally be a pay to win feature.

not directly P2W though, youd still have to run content to get the item to retrait. overland BOE items would be silly to argue, because you could just buy it off vendor.

Yes, and this is the reason why I think they made it the way they did. Also why they would be ok with doing it.

not really, you could get an overland set off of the guild store for 250 gold and retrait it. boom, instant advantage. This is the kind of thing that has no place in the crown store.

Very unlikely. Endgame players that actually have a use for transmutation aren't a large enough market to warrant the number of people they'd *** off, and they're not nearly as willing to shell out real cash as the casual/rp/cosmetic buyers that currently bankroll the game. The very act of placing these items for sale would hemmorage the target market itself. Transmog will be on the store without a doubt, but not transmutation.

I don't expect they will. It would be pay-to-win. Transmutation is aimed at the sort of high-end gear used by competitive players. Buying the best traits for armour and weapons would help people get a better place on the leader boards.

Very doubtful Zos would. Looking at the fact Zos has not added anything to the crown store that affects gear in any way functional way there is nothing to support the oppinion these new crystals will be added to the crown store.

A player than isn't already fully researched can research all relevant traits in a few days, completely afk. They'll research them naturally faster than they can even grind the necessary crystals.

But purchasing the scroll from the crown store is still making it faster. In my opinion they should have never added anything to the game that speeds up research times. It just takes more away from the players who actually took the time to do it the hard way. Takes away the feeling of accomplishment. Now that having traits researched is an important part of the transmutation system, it makes it even more wrong for the research scrolls to be in the game.

If anything should have been aimed squarely at master crafters this should have been it, but nothing, not even as a really expensive voucher reward from the master writs. They really wombled this one :D

This would be the literal first instance of pay to win if they do. They better not. Every single P2W boy who cried wolf peeps should definitely scream if they even think about putting these on the crown store.

Researching traits is the farthest thing from an accomplishment. It's basically just deconning an item. It doesn't actually take ingame time. I finished mine a month ago and couldn't care less if some impatient sap pays zos stupid amounts of cash to make a clock tick faster. Anyone can roll an a craft alt and have sharp/infused daggers, sharp/infused bows/staves, and divines helm/shoulders researched in a matter of minutes.

True, but then it's also true of any Quality of Life improvement in the Crown Store such as riding lessons and xp boosts, they all appear to belittle the efforts of those who've done it the hard way. However, I personally still feel an enormous sense of achievement from doing things the hard way rather than buying the shortcuts to those things.

Maybe we should stop with all the speculation? They have outlined where they will drop and there was no mention of the CS. Believe it or not, the devs are smart enough to know that this would be crossing the P2W line. I dont see them taking that step.

I disagree with you. Maybe it is no longer an accomplishment today with the changes they've made, but when you take the time to learn all those traits... It takes months to do. Might not be an accomplishment for you, but for many master crafters it was a huge one... until they gave us nothing for being master crafters (just like they are doing with the transmutation system).

You're imagining that people will shell out cash to skip 6 hour research times for the small handful of items that are worth transmuting.

If you really don't want it to happen, you're better off making a hard stance (i.e. "I'll quit the game if they do") than pushing this chicken little talk. More respectable, and more practical.

Yes, but they have said the crown store isn't P2W..adding something that allows you to up the quality of in game items is the definition of P2W.

Once they stop supporting this game and are releasing ESO 2 then maybe at that point. I would be amazed though if they do it before that point.

You still have to know the trait to change the item to. The crystals will probably be BoP so you may not even be able to trade them to have other people make the gear. So you will need at least one character on your account that has learned all 9 traits

No, you only need the important ones, like Sharpened, Precise, Infused, and Nirnhoned (for weapons anyway). You need to be able to transmute your own gear, yeah, but you're probably only ever going to want a few traits out of the pool so you can just research those.

They've said they're not releasing them on the CS any time soon, give them just a smidge of credit.

Making those kind of posts does nothing other than bring the trolls out. Not sure how threatening to quit the game is more respectable than bringing up a conversation. I'm not threatening to quit anything. I just wanted people to consider what I brought up so that the devs can be aware that it is being talked about.

No plans, but a definite desire to bring them to the Crown Store. They will probably wait for a while as people get more and more frustrated and the calls for crystal drops to be buffed break out on the forums... then it will be "we weren't planning on doing this, but we're going to alleviate the crystal problem by putting them for sale in the Crown Store".

And it won't be P2W because they will tell you it's "for your convenience" and that you won't be able to get anything that isn't already available in game.

We've seen experience scrolls, we know how this works...
