Transmutation is meant for the raise in the Armor/Weapons cap coming, in my opinion, before the end of the year.

Well they never promised an easy way... Its just more reliable.
When farming a weapon, you have to pass multiple rng rolls: item type first, then the set, then the trait. So it was really difficult to get a specific item if you're unlucky.
With the transmutation system you can just continue playing as usual, and you'll be accumulating those crystals (they drop from all endgame activities such as pvp, dungeons, arenas, bgs). And if you cant get certain weapon normally, you can just use those crystals instead of banging your head against the rng wall 400 times.
You're probably not supposed to transmute every piece of armor you get: after all, ZOS still wants us to continue playing dungeons and it looks like they dont want to crush the market of set items. This new system just offers an extra option, and it doesnt have to be a "to-go" option, really.

Well, my point is that you'll be accumulating them anyway, while playing the game normally. And you'll still be able to farm your gear in the old-fashioned way. Having 2 ways of getting weapons is still better than one.
Majority of population are solo questers and they'll probably never care about weapons with perfect traits anyway. Not to mention that those weapons are only nessesary for endgame builds... And you know what? If you're questing, perfect setups only ruin immersion, when a supposedly dangerous bad guy cant even survive your full rotation.
Cash shop theory is just a theory at this point, many people were suspecting crown versions of vMA weapons, but (thankfully!) that didnt happen.

Start selling that extra cp 160 gear now while you still get $$$ for it. If you wait until they announce a Gear Cap increase, all that stuff will be worthless except for deconning or vendor trash.

VET dungeons. I don't run Vet dungeons normally. whatever dungeon gear i have is from normal versions. I don't pvp if I can help it. unless you are going to tell me that crystals can be acquired by completing pledges, period? absolutely not all activities not even all group activities.

Because nobody wants the lower CP gear when there is higher CP gear. You don't see voidsteel items being sold for a lot right now, if at all. I certainly don't search for gear at guild stores lower than cp160.
