if youre gonna play a magic toon and pick a redguard race, youre screwing yourself over and vice versa, some races are more optimized for certain playstyles whether it be magic, stam, healing, or tanking.
Nord isnt a horrible choice for stam dk dps, but not nearly good either. redguard for sustain, khajiit for crit, orc for melee damage, even a wood elf isnt so bad. but i recommend a redguard, khajiit or orc.
yea, i never buy guide books when theres plenty of good resources on the forums and youtube. you just need to experiment and see a commin trend on what gear, skills, and set ups are good.
but OP isnt currently interested in end game content they want to be able to play overland content
you DO NOT need to min max to complete overland content, so OP does not need to re roll or change class, what they need is someone (i have voulenteered) to help guide them through a few basics and help play how they want whether that be a stam, a mag a hybrid or a support DD
I tried to find you online today but couldn't I sent a "group" request and got a message that you don't exist. LOL. I must have done something wrong.
if you message me on actual xbox it would be better. alternativley reply here with your gamertag and i will messge you
I play as FixedBlade123 but also go by Klubb.
No offense but there are plenty of players who offer advice for free.
With that, most builds are PvP or raid centric and for solo one can do with only a few of the skills used in raids.
Anyhow, for raid builds I suggest http://tamrielfoundry.com/forums/ and scroll down to the class of interest. You might even find builds for solo and regardless, they are free. Ok, they cost some time to look at.

There's a guide that people sell for real money?
FixedBlade123 wrote: »A few months ago I decided to buy the ESO Mastery Guide for about $35.00. I had searched in the forum, Youtube, and other sites for information on a good DPS build for me DK but I was getting LOTS of mixed messages and nobody seemed to help me with a good build that could be used in regular PVE, Cyrodiil, and group dungeons. So I bought the guide. Well ... there went a tank of gas and a waste of an hour-and-a-half of hard-earned wages. Although I had all the Guide's information and advice I just made the switch a couple of days ago.
I'm a Nord DK but hated tanking so I decided to try my hand at DPS. I did a lot of tweaking and got my Nord to the point that he could do some fair DPS but I had great health longevity. The red bar hardly moved in battle (most of the time). However, when I took the advice of the Guide I switched all of my armor from heavy to medium (Hunding's Rage & Ashen Grip). I also bumped up my stamina and critical hit abilities and Mundus stone (Warrior). The result? I have great DPS abilities but a Nix Hound can look cross-eyed at me and I die on the spot.
What good is having lots of DPS if you're lying on the ground with a big, white Plus Sign attached to your forehead? The "Masters" who put this guide together are "Masters" at taking your money and giving you nothing truly useful in return. Save your bucks.
Now I get to figure out what the hell to do. I'm afraid of dark anchors and dungeons are out of the question. I guess I can go back to my old build (which is unsatisfactory) or I can just spend the rest of my ESO life provisioning.

Sounds you like punched yourself in the face.

OP came to the forums to warn other people not to make the same mistake as them in buying this guide
I offered to be a mentor on page 1 why is this thread now 3 pages of people criticising the OP? please let it drop you are not actually helping the OP
i do not think they are a troll i think they are a lone wolf who is trying to ENJOY A GAME, they turned to forums in search of help and got mixed responses, so they turned to a printed guide and were duped.
HatchetHaro wrote: »Wait, people are actually dumb enough to purchase those guides?po
I'm just... flabbergasted. I mean, seriously. They advertise 30k dps in a group setting as an "amazing result". That's, like, absolute crap. It's a scam, through and through.
Here's an actual good resource on builds for every single class in every single role in every single setting: http://tamrielfoundry.com/forum/classes/
What's in there?
In-depth guides for everything you need to be good at the game. For damage-dealing, 40k dps and higher to burn even the most resilient of enemies. For tanking, gear and playstyles that let you take on the hardest-hitting enemies while spurring your teammates onward. For healing, enough power and utility to keep your team alive even through the most grueling of trials.
How much does it cost?
$0. Zip. Zilch. Nada. None.
Stop spending money on worthless crap. Seriously, I can accept people being stupid enough not to know the difference between damage-dealing builds and tanking builds at cp600+, but when that stupidity gets to the point where the first destination for help is a blatant scam of a guide instead of fellow players in-game or plenty of other better resources when you Google "ESO guides", I can't help but lose faith in humanity.

Thanks Puffy. I have thick skin. The overwhelming negativity I receive from this site is a matter of routine and totally expected. I wouldn't know how to act if I ran across a bunch of good folks like you. LOL. I always look for that diamond in the rough (those one or two individuals with a brain and a sense of humanity). I especially want to thank you for your time and effort and willingness to help a fellow player. I've put many of your suggestions into practice and am enjoying the direction I'm going.
Have a great weekend. Talk to you soon!
