Option to remove vampire OR make disguises visible on the character selection screen

I know this has been requested 25916061 times before, and I'll make it a 25916062nd time. On a game that emphasizes so much on 'medieval barbie dress up', it's absurd that this is still a thing we have to trouble ourselves with.

Easiest option is to add an option in the settings, much like the horse and head appearance options.

If that's too hard for you, at least make it so that our disguises can be seen in the character selection screen. And please for gods sake make it possible for us to use custom crown store hair while wearing disguises, it makes no sense that we have to use the hair everyone knows us by WHEN WE ARE UNDER DISGUISE.

Pale skin and red eyes is the price you pay for the power of the damned. If you can't pay the price then return to the realm of mortals.

Or you can use a quest disguise, et voila, magically no price to pay anymore.

Edit: In-game at least, not char selection screen as per OP.

Disguises are in a different section of the database and are intended to be used to blend into a certain group of NPCs. Some of them completely change a characters appearance.

It is for the same reason crown hair styles do not show with a disguise that it also hides vamp.

I'd say let's not muck up disguises. It's a small price to pay (to stay with the paying theme) vs not having the disguise option outside the quest all over sudden because things break when you touch them.

Being what some see as ugly is not one of the downsides of choosing to become a vampire. More vulnerability towards fire and lower health regenration is.

It's not a matter of price to pay. I don't give a damn about the price, the undeath passive is simply broken and anyone not running it in PvP is gimping themselves. I'd rather not shoot myself in the leg.

And for the 25916062nd time it's a curse... It always has been and always will be part of the elder scrolles lore. If you don't like it simply cure yourself. Or would you prefer all the townspeople run in fear and guards attack you at stage 4? Because they could have just made it like that instead.

Or make it so during the day your health slowly depletes, but the developers were kind enough to spare you from that burden.

In fact compared to other Elder Scroll games having a pale skin and a weakness to Fire as the only drawbacks is a pretty good deal. But some people always have that give me, give me, I'm entitled attitude.

Personally I have not seen the request in this form yet. We are not talking about getting rid of the "skin" inside the game, OP has solved that already by using a disguise - however using the disguise does not change your characters look on your selection screen.

what happens in tamriel when half of the population has pale skin and red eyes? it's getting a little ridiculous.

pretty tired of everyone looking the same tbh.

Why do you care so much about what other people want to do with their characters? Every time this comes up we have someone whining that a lot of people won't look like vampires anymore, and honestly, what does it matter to you? How does it in any way impact your in-game experience?

The selfishness and sense of entitlement here is quite clear, but it isn't coming from the people you claim it is.

Sure, would be nice to hide this disgusting look.

We play for fun, and it's no harm to hide vampirism.

It hurts nothing in the game. It is lore friendly whatever some people say (at least as lore friendly as destro ult or endless hail anyway) so yeah would be nice

I've played a vamp for a very long time and I'd welcome the option to hide the appearance just for something different. In SWTOR they have the option to hid the dark side corruption that makes your toon look fugly and IMO this is no different. For those against it simply don't use it, but there's no reason to deny others who would like the option to utilize it.

In the Rivenspire quest-line, the vampire Count Verandis looks like this the first time you see him.

    36398522484_76bef3059f_c.jpg

No sign of vampirism at all. Later, his appearance changes to the red eyes/deathly white skin/veins look. If Verandis can hide his vampirism, players should be able to.

Zos could make it like WW, which is also more like the single player TES games. Essentially, we would be in human form and have none of the benefits unless we used an ultimate to transform into the vampire. Then we would have access only to the vampire line skills (have to add 3 more and take away the current ultimate) for the duration the vampire ultimate keeps us in form.

That would solve two things. One, we would have far less vampires and two, vampires would look just like they did before being turned so players would not have to worry about their appearance.

If you don't like the look you can wear a costum from a quest. I have one which hides the vamp look complete in-game.

    Those are barely downsides.

Health regen is the most useless stat in the game and a little extra damage from a single elemental type is negligible.

I agree. I have been a vampire since forever and I really want a skin/option to hide vampirism. I don't see why ZOS hasn't allowed it yet.

I think people AND players should run in fear when they see a stage 4 vamp. Should have an auto fear (you can CC break and then get immunity, just the one fear!!) on stage 4. Vampiric Gaze. And Guards attack on sight and I am mainly a Vamp in stage 4 all the time.

    I mean HELLO it's a frickin VAMPIRE!

    1) It's lore friendly

    2) Doesn't impact/subtract from others' gameplay

    3) Easy way for ZOS to make money (I'd pay 400 crowns for this)

    4) This is an MMO, not a single player game.

    5) Bear with me here, but how to say....PvP things influence PvP. Fashion wars does not =, insofar as I'm aware, PvP (or PvE, whatever). I fail to see the reasoning in counting 'looks ugly as heck' as a valid downside for bonuses in PvP (let's go with PvP for now). As if the developers thought "We coooould give the players 5% MORE increased damage from fire...but naaaah, let's make this weird/bad/pasty looking skin for vampires instead. THAT will surely bring about PvP balance."

    6) Using an in game costume is, while nice that it works, defeats the point. I want away from the ugly looking vamp skin I'm required to use if I want to take vamp for PvP reasons. Being shoved into a costume that likely isn't appealing/whatever issues someone may have with it defeats the entire point of this.

    Personally, I want this so I can RP a character who I also PvP and PvE with, but who isn't a vampire. I also find the vamp skin just godawful ugly. It turned my pure black Argonian PEARL WHITE ;o;

Can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. This is an RPG, and if it starts to pander to this sort of stuff it will not improve, the playerbase will not improve either. People who can put up with the choices they make, who can work around them (wear a full face helmet for goodness' sake), and who can appreciate not having perfect or bootiful characters are the better people to play with and have a community with tbqh fam.

What these guys don't realize is that most of us already bypass the skin by using disguises. I do, however, want to use some of the costumes I PAYED FOR instead of the ugly servant's robe but I can't, because no toggle option and I will not gimp myself by not being a vampire.
