Taunting Issues

Running my secondary tank, I just finished with a vCoH and on that run, I had ALOT of difficulty keeping aggro. I taunt once each rotation, so I know I wasn't losing taunt plus when I did lose it and ran over and hit my taunt, nothing happened.

I've tanked quite a bit and this is the first time this has happened to me. Is there some bug I should know about?

    and no there is no untauntable enemy in that dungeon or any bug.

    Not sure what you mean by that. I DO know that if more than one player taunts too often, they become immune to taunt for a certain period of time, but I saw no other sword and board players and I didn't see the synergy for Inner Fire show up.

    Not sure what you mean by that. I DO know that if more than one player taunts too often, they become immune to taunt for a certain period of time, but I saw no other sword and board players and I didn't see the synergy for Inner Fire show up.

    A fully charged heavy attack with a frost staff will also taunt.

    Not sure about vCoH specifically, but anecdotally I'm hearing similar things from other tanks.

    What I do know about Dranos and Velidreth specifically, however, is that they will switch targets almost instantly if taunt runs out, and both will wait to finish certain attacks before they actually aggro to you.

    Dranos on PS4 NA is so glitched that the dps can roll away from Fangs of Mephala, and if they're aggroed it will still hit them from across the arena.

    Are you talking about the Bone Colossus Boss? You can't really Taunt him when he decides to move around. All the other bosses are Tauntable for the most part. I think one other boss will up and move around, but you can reengage aggro like the Bone Colossus if you follow them around.

    I had this problem last weekend in vFGII, where the spawn kept going after a sorc dps (and not in a "random non taunt attack" kind of way). They're a good player, no ice staff or clannfear.

    Does anyone know if that passive applies to all ice-based attacks, like set procs or enchants?

    That's something else entirely. I have spammed taunt skills and not.lost aggro. If the amount of damage the DPS is doing is enough it will.draw aggro, especially using an Ice Staff.

    It was almost every boss. And once we moved to the player, I couldn't get him off for a bit.

    There also funny dps who keep a frost staff on their backbar only to reveal it mid dungeon and cause havoc.

    Ya, taunts you apply yourself won't make the boss immune to taunts, but taunts from different people will make the boss untauntable. I've seen this recently (in the past week) when DPS have used taunts.

    Also, are you saying it's possible for a DPS to out-aggro a taunt? Or do you mean Ice Staff attacks that aren't heavy attacks generate aggro?

    Was the DPS a DK or charging? If it's not the usual suspects (Ice Staff heavy attack, Inner Fire, Sorc pets, Pierce Armor, mobs that can't be taunted) the only other things I can think of is the Tormentor set and Unrelenting Grip.

    ya, i'm not the only one with that problem.

    Sometimes i use taunt (SnB or undaunted) and bossaggro doesn't refresh. I can only speak for vHoF, but only bc that's the only dungeon i'm tanking atm.
    I'll try to get some video-footage ready, i recorded yesterday...maybe someone can see/identify the bug or even a mistake on my side. Really frustrating when your second tank dies, bc ESO decided to not apply taunt on 4th boss bossswap :|

    You'll see me taunting the boss 4 times, yet only 2 of them work. The other 2 did not refresh the taunt-timer (watch srendar and untaunted). Note it's not an UI/Addon-Error...sometimes the boss even ran away from me, when i didn't double-check my addons :disappointed:

    As a healer I get aggro a lot when I cast purifying light on a boss. Fun stuff.

    A Sorc pet can never grab agro from a tank that is using an actual taunt.
