Last Second Trade Scammers....

Rainphase
Rainphase
@ZOS_GinaBruno , Suport Ticket Number 170904-002719. Since I cannot name people in the forums I would like to request that something is done about this. Scamming is against the EULA and destroys game experience.

Please note I take everything i said in my report very seriously, and intend to do what i stated if this is not resolved.

Side note, Anyone else been a victim of last second removal of item from scamming? Post it here lets get this fixed and these people removed from the game.

Last Scammer I ran into got mail inbox full of filleted fish...

All I say is take it slow when trading player to player. Most people that get scam are rushing to get items or gold and the scammers know this.

Other thing I tell people if it a big item that high value to do it through COD mail, and again take it slow to see if it real.

I hope you will succeed, they should care about scamming and the solution would be easy as it's been suggested in a multitude of threads by now, adding a final confirmation that locks for good the transaction, if one of the parts do not confirms the deal is off, window closed.
It's ridiculous this is not there already.

I hope something is done about this. A second confirmation should be in game to secure items so this doesn't happen. The fact that this isn't in game already is ridiculous to be honest. I've had a few friends this has happened to in game and the excuse of "oh you should watch what your doing better" is completely stupid. People even use third party programs that pull the item from the trade within a second. Nice to see nothing has been done about it...

I do hope you get a response from them and a favorable one at that.

I was thinking about this, since the only other way to really trade with other players is either directly or joining a Trade Guild to sell through Guild Stores. Since, from what I read, ZoS is sticking with the Guild Store system; why not let Guild Stores function as a defacto Auction House and allow players to sell their items through the Guild Store. Trade Guilds that own the store would be allowed to set a tariff on the goods sold through their store that are not members of the guild and possibly have the ability to revoke items from non guild members if they are undercutting their prices. Obviously, Guild Stores in cities would have the ability to charge a higher tariff than more reclusive Guild Stores and it would help cover the astronomical cost.

    Just an idea.

How does this happen to people?

If someone tries to put the wrong item then you can look at their exact item and check the level/trait/etc. If they try to take an item out of the trade window or change the Gold amount offered then it cancels confirmation of the trade on both sides. I just don't get how this is happening to people. You have to be careful when you trade, that's all. There is no internal bug in the system that allows people to scam you besides you yourself not being watchful during a trade....

Anyway, sorry this happened to you OP. Hopefully things get resolved.

I got trade scammed out of a psijic ambrosia recipe a few days back. Scammer used a third party controller to remove gold and accept in less than a second. Reported him. Now I refuse to do anything but CoD, but the postage is a pain. Why do we need to pay just so we can trade without being scammed? How is that reasonable?

And to the OP it sucks that something like that happened to you. I was recently scammed and it is a disheartening experience.

If it happens you can't stop/see it, it goes like:
    - Both players have gold and items in window
    - Gold scammer hits submit
    - Victim hits submit
    - Trade complete
    - Scammer now has both item and gold

No you don't see them remove gold, its a glitch.

This is a serious weakness in the system, @ZOS_GinaBruno , this is not the first scam and it's not going to be the last, unless the trade system is made scam proof.

If there is silence on this from ZOS, then I would take it that scamming is an intended mechanic in the game.

What I feel about your experience OP is that this was done with more than just the regular interface, scripts anyone? And this is the reason why we can't have good things kids, if any action is taken then be ready for a more restricted API update.

    Just my 2 cents.

Correct that one has to be smart and pay good attention, however, Zos has taken action with repeat scammers. Probably needs to be someone who repeats the actions to show it was not an accident or something.

If someone has found a way around the trade protection then make sure you act first. If they change something then back out of the trade, walk away.

This, both submit their offer, this locks the trade screen, you can still inspect the items but not change.
You need to press modify offer button to change.
This would drop submit offer lock on the other side.
Once both has submitted you get an finalize trade button.
This is another key than submit offer on controllers.

Yeah as I posted in another thread someone got scammed out a cipher by someone offering 1.5m for it but in trade the buyer somehow changed the 1.5m to 15k in a split millisecond just as soon as the seller hit accept. I heard he got reimbursed for it though since its an expensive item so that's good just don't see why ZoS allows programs to manipulate the trade like this.

Why is so hard to use mail? It's more safer than trading... You can request gold. If you don't want pay price, you can always send it back to seller. You can too check it's item right. Always when I sell my items, I mail them.

other than the exhorbitant cost of shipping expensive items?

i guess the only thing that would concern me is a low level character selling high level items. it wouldnt take long for a scammer to get a bad reputation and its like what, 4hrs of botting to get a new toon to lvl 50?

I've seen this happen as well. They just let the mail sit their so you'll be at a loss, when you finally get the item back.

@ZOS this stuff can very easy be avoided.

    - Just add a final confirmation dialogue on top of the actual UI. So right after both players put their items / money for trade and confirmed then both of them are sent to a secondary screen where they can confirm the trade or not. At this point players can either accept or cancel the trade so they can't modify it anymore.
