Yep, Pickpocket 2 time, then blade of woe. Although I think blade of woe has a bigger detection range. I seem to get caught more times assassinating than I do pick pocketing.
Too bad we can't do that with guards. We have to get 3 successful pick pockets on them to have a chance of getting a wanted poster housing item.

Actually, no. I pick guards left and right whenever I am in the right mood. Picked lots of them. I have about ten to fifteen wanted posters, different ones mind you, and not all of them were stolen on the third try. I got some on the first and some on the second try as well.
This myth about only getting the good stuff on the third pull or kill is just this, a myth. And there is also a chance to pull one on first or second and another one after that. I honestly never got that with a guard, but I had it with the wood elf throne plan. Got one via pick on the second try and then right after that one with the kill via blade of woe. Same with the vampire npc for the coffin and lid plans. Got the coffin plan on second pick and the lid plan on the kill. So don't let others tell you bs!
Well, @PlagueSD , if that was what you meant. If you only meant you can't kill guards to respawn them and thus HAVE to try your hand at picking them successfully, then just ignore my rant above.

Which is why, pick, pick, stab is the best choice big picture.LadyNalcarya wrote: »ValkyriesWolf wrote: »Too bad we can't do that with guards. We have to get 3 successful pick pockets on them to have a chance of getting a wanted poster housing item.

That myth is based on the fact that you usually get special drops on 3rd try. And if you kill an npc after 2 pickpockets, you get the 3rd drop. Pickpocketing 3 times also works, but npcs inventory respawns slower than npcs themselves so its better to make them respawn.

O rly? Because most npcs I've looted to empty before I started pick pick stab, were empty after stab after 3rd pick. Like it says empty after 3rd pick...yes? Then stab...still empty.
Are you saying that you pick to empty then stab then the corpse is again lootable?
If so, *flips the table*
