Morrowind - Betnikh before Coldharbor !!!

When you board the boat in Vvardenfell to go to Stros M'Kai it does not start the main questline, however once in Betnikh in order to defeat Vardan you must have lost your soul, but since you have not yet been sacrificed by Mannimarco yet ....

Should Betnikh be moved further along the storyline in order to be done properly ... or could we meet the hooded figure in Stros M'Kai ?
During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

I'm pretty sure they just lazily threw it together without thinking if any of the story would still make sense. I doubt they'll change anything now. However, little things like this can prove really annoying to people who care about story and immersion, not that I'm one of those people, but I can see how it would annoy those who do care.

I don't think new players even know that they ever do get sacrificed to Mannimarco because they replaced the initial "beginning" cinematic of you being sacrificed with a nonsensical mish mash of trailer scenes that doesn't mean anything.

To further the problem, once you complete "On to Glenumbra" and do "Could Shriven in Coldharbour" you wake up AGAIN in the starter island...

so you take the boat to go to your Alliance territory you arrive on your starter island... do the starter island(s) start the mainline quest only to wake up on the starter island again ...

You're not supposed to go to Betnikh/Stros M'kai after the Vvardenfell tutorial. You need to go to Daggerfall and talk to the hooded figure. She will take you to Coldharbour. After you beat Coldharbour, you'll be teleported to Stros M'kai.

At this point(really ever since One Tamriel), its up to you to do questlines in the proper order. If you jump around, you can't expect everything to be linear.

Aulthough they still need to make it so Morrowind owners can choose to do either tutorial instead of being forced into the Vvarednfell one.

The game doesn't explain anything to new players. You literally have to read the forums or Reddit to know what the proper order of the story is.

It would probably make more sense if that boat in Seyda Neen took you to the first alliance city rather than the starter islands.

Another reason why the new tutorial sucks >:| It's vastly inferior to the old one in literally every way and I wish they'd at least let people choose -- even better some setting to make sure you always get the old one so I'm never reminded the travesty that is the new one exists.

Just did a small test. Going to Vivec city you can board an unmanned boat to go to your capital city. Taros Evosa in Seyda Neen only goes to your starter islands.

Naturally once on your starter island you can board a boat to your first alliance city but that is a unnecessary step.

Yeah, if they changed Taros Evosa to take you to Daggerfall/Davon's Watch/Vulkhel Guard, it would flow a bit better.

Well, you do land on the small island(s) after Coldharbour, in all 3 factions... so going directly to major cities would be another issue.

I'm very pleased about the hooded figure plot twist and the beautiful cinematic played when you do check them out.

But aside from Betnikh quest, is there any other one that conflicts with your "soulless" character?

They really should have just added the hooded figure to Vvardenfell so you could start the main quest there, where upon completing it you'd wake up on your alliance starter area. Seems that would have been the easiest way. Make the hooded figure appear right outside the building the governor of Seyda Neen is.

Starting the hooded figure quest actually makes more story sense than the original tutorial. There's a cinematic that shows manimarco sacrificing you.

Yeah, putting her anywhere on Vvardenfell would be a better hook. Ideally she should appear in any major city, just like the Prophet does. My suggestion during the beta, assuming that you would complete Vvardenfell first, was to have her appear in Vivec City after the last Vivec story quest.

That cinematic actually was there originally, prior to the Tamriel Unlimited relaunch. You can watch the full thing here (the original is longer than what we now have in-game):

I'm really a bit torn on the One Tamriel aspect of this. While I enjoy I can pick just the quest lines I like now the sense of progression through the story and the building up momentum is completely lost. It feels more generic now than it did. I don't know what to think of it. Mixed feelings.

Well, said Hooded Figure started stalking my Warden in Hew's Bane since the update. That's not something I like, my Warden would really prefer if the Worm Cult leave her alone, there are already enough Vestiges in Tamriel ...

To be fair, it is the Main Quest, and the story does kinda depend on it...

To be fair, a lot of quests assume you're soulless, which gets kinda amusing when you hit them after intentionally avoiding The Wailing Prison.
