FPS Question?

Ian_Stormbringer
What would be a decent FPS if playing graphic on high?

I am playing on a somewhat dated gaming laptop. Set on High I am at 60 FPS, is that viable?

Viable for what, exactly? If it's playable in a city, then it's playable almost everywhere, but the fps you get in an unspecified location isn't a good indicator of what you might get in more performance taxing environments like trials.

So if I am just collecting and doing my own thing I should be fine. If I am about to get after it I should lower settings correct?

Do you have the FPS monitor always going at the bottom left of your screen? If not, you can enable this under Settings, I believe it's found under Esc > Settings > Interface > Frames or something like that, right next to Latency. Enable that, and just monitor how many frames you get when you do get after it in the more taxing areas.

Personally, I think 60 FPS is wonderful! I have the higher graphics settings, and the lowest I get in the most taxing areas is 20 and above, and I think that is perfectly playable. If I'm playing a lot in one day, I've noticed that my FPS drops a bit, and all I need to fix that is to do a quick restart (I believe my GPU memory is getting a bit clogged at that point).

I am a rare case though, as I haven't been able to play any recent games with current-gen graphics until the beginning of this summer when I got my gaming PC. I think 30 FPS is perfect, 60 is even nicer.
    Best,

For a 60Hz monitor, 60 FPS is enough. You won't notice a difference going higher.

I recently purchased a 144hz monitor and raised the cap to 144 fps. I tend to be around this cap on ultra in most areas except when its snowing/raining.. then it drops to 50-70 fps. Yay.
