Whoever thought it would be a good idea to have the cancel dungeon invitation and leave dungeon menu buttons to be the same..you should probably give him a medal...genius idea

This happens to me ALL the time! Especially when the queue pops immediately and I'm just trying to get back to the screen. I must have accidentally cancelled dozens of dungeon invites this way!

    I couldn't agree more.
    It's not a good setup.

I used to wonder why so often players were not accepting invitations for grouping.
One day I found out exactly why it happens perhaps more than necessarily intended.
    It's a flawed execution is all...and sadly.
How many times have I accidentally declined placement after selecting Activity Finder>Queue? Entirely too many.
I find it's best to either remain in that menu until you successfully enter a queue (however long that could take) OR just smash the back button (O on PS4 or B on XOne) as quickly as you can three or four times until you've cleared the menu and hope a placement doesn't pop up while doing so.

It could use a rethink/overhaul. Perhaps a different button to cancel the queue while still allowing the use of our back button to exit out of menu's while we wait in queue's.
It's one of the more mechanically frustrating aspects of the game I've experienced.
    Completely inconvenient.

I just noticed a similar thread down below with a fix though:

If u r on PS4, don't press circle to back out, press start on PS4 controller, it take u out of all menus, faster and doesn't accidentally reject anything.

So I guess I'll need to be utilizing this button instead of the back button. Problem solved.
And so concludes Chapter II of things you never think about...

One trick to try and avoid accidental cancellation.

When the queue is about to pop, the screen freezes for a second. So before you click the cancel button, make sure that something is moving in the background. Like the floating globes of armor or something else. If you see it freeze for a moment, that means you're going to get a pop notification!

This is why you hire or consult usability experts when designing a GUI. For ZOS, that means long before it goes live, when usabiliy issues can be fixed in the same decade as the feature is released.

At least on XB... I always use the menu button (the 3 horizontal strips) to get out of menu mode... this helps sometimes... but I do occasionally decline when I'm mindlessly going through menu...

exactly - it drives me nuts...especially when it leads to sometimes being on a lockout timer for a little while

Happens to me about 10 times a day easily. Last night I had just the opposite happen though. I had 1 objective to activate in a public dungeon to complete it and was looting some dead bodies when it popped (after about an hour in queue). Needless to say I accepted as I was looting. Group formed and pulled me in. Had to run all the way back through the public dungeon just to hit X once. It was such a nuisance. Definitely poor design in both cases. On console they should make it like deleting a character where you have to hold multiple buttons to confirm/deny.

At this point no one should be surprised by Zenimax's ignorant design decisions
I'm a PVE roleplayer concerned about my vampires stage 4 skin tone and keep getting load screens so I came here to distract people from major issues with a rant thread about my characters cosmetic appearance.

If only PS4 controllers had a "Start" button.
