Is this a bug or a stupid change? Wailing prison after you've said skip wailing prison...

Goodness, I have characters at CP197 and am already at crafting level 17 enchanting and I finally went to speak to the benefactor and was clocked over the head and thrown into the wailing prison. Don't it once, don't need to do it again so if this is ZOS' decision, it was a terrible one.

That should have said done it once.

You need to do it to start the main questline now i think.

    yeah it's a stupid change.

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

Yeah but I'm level 7. What the hell happened to just meeting him in a cave. ZOS, this was an awful change. We who have tons of characters don't want to go through this again. PUT IT BACK! Anyone ever tell you that if it isn't broken, don't fix it????

Edit: It actually sent me back to Bleakrock. I'm doing Bleakrock at level 7. Crazy.

Sorry, but Wailing Prison takes all of about 10 minutes or less to complete... if you don't have time for that, then you most likely don't have time to get involved in a long-term MMO.

Did they add this because of the skyshard that you get in there? I vaguely recall people complaining about missing a skyshard but not sure if this was it.

    Not the point though.

Wailing prison is no longer the tutorial if you have Morrowind. You can skip the Morrowind tutorial now if you've done it before but the Benefactor step is now just another step in the Molag Bal main quest

Are you kidding me? Really???? I have several characters. I am CP level 197. Done it once, don't need to do it again and again and again and again.

I have Morrowind. It just forced me to go back after I've already gotten all the way to Stonefalls. My other newish characters went to the benefactor and went to the cave, done. My poor Argonian had to put up with Coldharbour and Lyra's mouth again. I love Jen Hale but I hate that character. It has to be something weird.

Agree with what others have said, I have started one character since Morrowind and although it started in Vvardenfell, I was forced to do the wailing prison to start the main quest line.

Pretty stupid I think, but being kitted out and having skills set means it doesn't take long.

Just think of the wailing prison as the prequal to the main story now.

When you skipped the tutorial you skipped the tutorial. You did not skip The Wailing Prison, because that's not the tutorial if you own Morrowind. What you skipped was getting captured by slavers, and then escaping with help from Naryu. You can skip that if you want.

The wailing prison is not a tutorial anymore. It's a main story quest now.

The new tutorial takes place in Vvardenfell (that's what you skipped).

Seems intended. On the bright side, there's less tutorial to it now. It feels like a super easy story quest instead and it doesn't take any more time than most of the other vestige quests.

It shouldn't be. It's truly really bad and I guess I'll never do the main quest again. I honestly hated that part of the main quest and anything that had to do with Lyris (sorry Jen Hale, but that was pathetic writing in my opinion.)

You complain about the tutorial, but I'm still waiting for a way to skip the second quest, The Harborage. The Prophet just walks so damn slowly.

Why is this an issue? If you dont want to do it, just dont do it. Nobody is forcing you to do the tutorial.

I started a new character and skipped the slaver ship tutorial. At around level 6 I met the benefactor and got thrown into the Wailing Prison after a very enjoyable cut scene. That said, the prison was a cakewalk at level 6, I was out in under 10 minutes. And I took the time to look for better armor and weapons.

The 1st time I went through the Wailing Prison I had no idea what I was doing, took maybe 30 minutes to escape. I couldn't even pick the lock on that door, I ended up forcing it since I broke my only lockpick*. Yes, I had no idea I could find more!! I ended up on Bleakrock with nothing but the first sword you pickup from the first guard.

*I was under the impression that you had to push all the pins down to the bottom and get them to stay.

Hey, I remember thinking that was what you needed to do in Oblivion's minigame. :p

It makes perfect sense to me. As others have said, Wailing Prison is no longer a tutorial. It is now the first quest in the main quest. If you are going to do the main quest you shouldn't be allowed to skip the first quest in the quest line.

Phahahaha, my story is even more fun :)

Created new Nightblade - wanted to play for magNB for a while, I just love magicka chars. Skipped Morrowind Tutorial, of course. Got to Mornhold and went straight ahead to Dye Station, because looks are important, you know. Put Dro-M'Athra skin on my girl, it suits Nightblade nicely. Dyed my costume. And went to Benefactor.

And here I was. In Wailing Prison. Wearing vMoL skin :D

I really LOLed, that was just... hilarious :D:D:D

Well, it sure was, while hilarious, very dull. But you know what?

New cutscene. Dat hella cool cutscene. Worth it <3
