What is your least favorite quest?

For me, I completely despised the series of quests involving that annoying lizard Sun-In-Shadow in the Tel Aruhn area of Vvardenfell. I can no longer remember the name, or more accurately, have subconsciously erased it from my mind.

Why, did I dislike them so, you may ask? Simply put, there nothing about the entire quest series to like. The main character is totally unsympathetic. The voice actor sounds like she’s been smoking cigars for forty-five years. The over-long series of quests are annoying, and the entirety takes far too much time to finish.

(Minor Spoilers Ahead) So we start off with a quest to free Sun-In-Shadow from slavery. Okay, that’s a worthy task for our hero to embark upon. So while doing this step, I finished the other quests in the area. Then when she is freed, that lizard want more from me. I have to help her gain recognition as a mage, and this is done through theft and murder. Just what kind of cold-blooded lizard did I free? So now I’m traveling over half of the map doing chores and side-quest from other NPCs to help her become a mage and steal a place on the council. By now, I’ve finished with all the other quests in that part of the zone, and am stuck doing this stuff. Worse than that, is the constant requests of go to the other side of her little town and asking another NPC some trivial piece of information, picking up forms, or making deliveries like a servant. The town is ‘C’ shaped, so it’s a hamster wheel of running up one end and down the other, with one loading screen after another. Fine, I do that for her, and when her never-ending ambitions eventually land her in prison, I have to get her out through a set of side-quests from her jailor/superior. Then at last, when all my hard work promoting her to a position she does not rightly deserve (one she would have never attained without my dastardly deeds) I think it is finally over…but wait, now she has personal issue I must resolve for her! Seems like the scaly lady and her cold-blooded lizard boyfriend have grown apart, and who better to fix there situation than me. In the end we’re left with some morality play that by the time it came around, I could care less.

Over all, it was a long and uninspired series of far too many kill-and-fetch, or sneak-and-fetch quests all loosely tied together in one story. I really liked the rest of the Morrowind expansion. Most of the questlines were a lot of fun. I’m something of a completionist in games. I like to make sure I do all the quest on my characters, but by the time this questline concluded, I was angry, disappointed, and had to stop playing for a few days. The Sun-In-Shadow questline felt like a horrible chore. Yesterday I was considering making Dark Elf and running them trough Morrowind, kind of for RP purposes, but remembered this questline and concluded that I cannot bear to run another character through this zone again.

Not only were the lame adventures of Sun-In-Shadow my least favorite quests in Morrowind, but so far its my least favorite in all of TESO, and possibly of any game I’ve played.

One that irritates me is the Shad Astula questline in Deshaan. Nothing wrong with the quest itself, its the ending that gets to me. When they're on the dock and you're saying goodbye and they act like its this big emotional scene. Guys, we barely know each other, you're coming off a bit clingy. And then the dark elf apologises for giving you a hard time? Dude, we've barely said two words to each other and you've been less rude than most dunmer. Really like the Ebonheart Pact quests in general so this one just stuck out as bad.

That and the trial where you have to fight while poisoned. Annoys me that I build around self healing and then lose the primary characteristic of that character.

Well I liked Sun-in-Shadow's questline.... ohh well

The Quest I hate the most is the first quest you get when you arrive in Orsinium. I LOVE Orsinium (in my book the best Questline in the Game (and even better then the whole of skyrim imo)), but this first quest is pretty boring and hinders me to see my favorite orc (Kurog duh). It's just lacking in comparison to the rest of orsinium and ALLWAYS going through that quest just to replay Orsinium is boring.

I have not yet found a Vvardenfell quest that I did like.....don't know that I have started the Sun-in-Shadows one yet.

I particularly dislike the fighters guild quest line - they are a guild full of fighters, why do they need me?

Yep, stupid and pointless - at least if you were fighting enemies while doing so it might be more fun...

The Rivenspire Undaunted Daily? Yeah, that's pretty miserable.

Honestly, the first one that comes to mind is Sun-In-Shadow. I find the Grahtwood main quest oddly tedious as well. Couldn't tell you why, though.

That one Green Pact quest in Grahtwood, involving the terminally ill high elven woman. Yeah, the Green can be harsh. But to someone with chronic illness who's faced life-threatening infections a few times, that entire story feels like a slap in the face. The message that someone "should accept death even though there's a way to live because there's a high cost to surviving" is cruel when it's just a flower, and arbitrary enforcement by supernatural forces isn't helpful. They could have at least provided an option to end it differently. It's not like we haven't had the chance to bargain with or intimidate ancient spirits and ehlnofey before.

Most of Craglorn. I thought the story of incarnate birthsigns was pretty ridiculous, and the voice actors for the thief/mage seem to have thought that too. I found it really painful.

I can't remember the name of it, but it's in a delve in Shadowfen where you are trying to get the Mnemic Egg. I've spent more time in that delve making wrong turns and getting lost than I care to remember!!!! And it's full of those creepy lamias!

I haven't done much in Vvardenfell to know if I like the quest with the Argonian or not. It's been too crowded!!! I can't stand trying to get to a merchant or a crafting station with people who all have their warden and sorc pets out. Makes me crazy!

Dark Brotherhood in ESO was complete trash compared to other TES games. So predictable and the ending was just typical. Could see it 10000 miles away.

The story was so poor it was so disappointing. I've played it twice, once being recently as I forgot how bad it was the first time.

Not sure who wrote the story for it but their job should be considered on the line imo lol

Sun-in-Shadow's quest is the one I hate the most, too. Which is a good thing - it means that there are hundreds of better quests for my characters to take.

Other quests which annoyed me (and others, it seems) are the Coldharbor quest with the Bosmer and the lights, the Coldharbor quest where it takes ages to turn the crystal, and whole of Craglorn (the plot is just... meh).

I actually like Shadowfen a lot, even as an Aldmeri Dominion player. I just pretend the bad guys are under the influence of the Veiled Queen.
